Lamar Miller and David Wilson Expect to Run Very Fast in Indy
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com
Most NFL Draft pundits have Miami RB Lamar Miller and Virginia Tech RB David Wilson ranked as 2A/2B in this year’s crop of RB draft prospects. When you watch film you can see the reasoning. They have very similar upright running styles and big play ability. Both guys remind me of Dallas RB DeMarco Murray, which turned out pretty well for the Cowboys. Miller and Wilson may actually have a touch more speed.
This RB conundrum has only gotten more complicated in Indianapolis. Wilson and Miller literally have identical expectations for the 40 yd. dash. Almost verbatim, in seperate interviews, each guy stated they are 4.3 flat guys who expect to run high 4.2 here at the combine.
So much for sorting this problem out. Maybe tomorrow’s drills will shed some more light on the situation. It will be very interesting to see how their expectations stack up to their results.
** Update 2/26 – Turns out both of these guys were a bit ambitious. Miller posted a 4.4 and Wilson posted a surprising 4.49
