Michael Bush – Bengals Stud?

While there are plenty of NFL teams that could use help at running back, free agent RB Michael Bush isn’t generating quite as much interest as expected. Maybe this says something about the league perception of Bush’s skills or maybe it’s a commentary on the value of the position. The one thing I know is Michael Bush is a darn good running back with a lot of tread on the tires.
So far he has only visited Chicago and Cincinnati who recently parted ways with Cedric Benson. There are several other teams that could use his services: GB, CLE, DET, NYG, MIA, SD, TB, WAS, DEN, IND and OAK would still like to have him back. The lack of interest surprises me. Maybe it’s because he wants to be a feature back? I believe he is capable of doing so.
Chicago doesn’t make sense. Why so he can go from being Darren McFadden’s back up to being Matt Forte’s? I’m sure he received a nice endorsement from his former head coach Hue Jackson who now coaches special teams in CIN. Maybe that is why he got the interview with the Bengals? Of all the teams that could use him, I do believe this would be the best fit.
Michael Bush is a durable bruiser with really nice agility and good hands. He does not threaten defenses though. That is why he would be terrific in an offense that passes to set up the run. This is what the Bengals do. They want to throw it and they have the talented skill players to execute it. The west coast system OC Jay Gruden runs requires a back who can catch the ball and Bush fits the bill.
This would be a great marriage in Cincinnati. Bush would be a stud and Bengals fans would love it. There would be a ton of goaline touches and touchdowns and fantasy football players would love it too.
