RosterWatch Week 4 Matchup Tool Now Available

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only traditional “fantasy points against” metrics (schedule-adjusted after 3 weeks of play), but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2022 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow/pace, sportsbook indicators, volume of total projected snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you roster Chargers RB Austin Ekeler, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Chargers (Ekeler’s team). You will see that the Chargers’ opponent (OPP) is the Houston Texans in Week 4, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the TEXANS’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the CHARGERS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the TEXANS). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Chargers, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means that Ekeler faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 4 (the Texans). This is a great indicator for fantasy managers of Ekeler and is a positive sign for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: Vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift, or as injuries to key defensive personnel occur.

1 is the best (easiest) matchup, 32 is the worst (toughest).

LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

      Mixon owners may not be willing to sell low bc nobody has enough RBs. You can try but tough one to execute.

    If I can’t pull off a 2-1 trade this week, I’ll need to drop one to fill a Kicker spot.

    Am I overvaluing Gabe Davis against the other WRs in my cupboard?

    London, Samuel, Davis, G Wilson, Cooks. Tyreek, Waddle and Olave are obv not in consideration.

    Drop candidates are either Davis or Cooks IMO. Cooks will probably have more positive game scripts moving forward. London, Samuel and Wilson have shown too much upside.

      Wilson has looked good but he’s also getting another qb soon and we don’t know what that connection looks like. He’s the biggest question mark of this group for that reason. I’d try to trade though

      It depends on your options. If you belive Russ is cooked ..he is a drop. If you think it is a case where it just takes a few weeks for new QB to get a hold of the offense.. he is a play.

      Yes probably so – maybe you could get one more buy low flex type asset in return to equalize value a little more- but maybe you are looking to clear a roster spot. Going after Mixon is smart- you might be making somewhat more than a fair offer though- although not totally out of bounds by any means

    Romeo Doubs is available on waivers. .5 ppr
    My WRs are Chase, Lamb, Sutton (3 weekly starters) with reserves – DK, Ayiuk, and Toney
    We can start a 4th WR in the flex. Should I try and grab Romeo? if so who should I drop? I am leaning towards toney since even when he starts to play Romeo has the better QB tossing him the rock. What do you think ?

    Also have non-starting RBs – damien harris and Melvin Gordon. (starters are cook/matteson, and the two Williams)

    Been dancing around this one in multiple posts, but I’ve got Hill and Waddle occupying 2/3 WR-eligible slots.

    Is it too risky to start Waddle?

    I can throw one of: London, Samuel, Gabe Davis, G Wilson or B Cooks in his place.
