As a high school prospect: 2 star; Class of 2019
Pros
– a real problem out of the slot on option routes
– crafty route-runner
– natural hands, a hands-catcher with excellent ball-framing abilities
– ability to create separation at the route stem not only to get open, but also allow for space to gain yards-after-catch
– Arizona actively targeted him in the red-zone, nose for the end zone
– very good in space, a real asset in the screen game
– 2021 First Team All Conference USA
– 2022 and 2023 All-Pac 12 Honorable Mentions
– broke out as a true freshman at UTEP
Cons
– profiles to play exclusively in the slot (70% senior year)
– somewhat slight of build
– good enough straight-line speed, but doesn’t profile as a bona-fide lid-lifter
– probably wouldn’t have the physicality to handle press coverage, but why would you use him that way?
Fantasy Outlook: Cowing is a player who we’ll be very interested to see at the Senior Bowl, and will update the profile here accordingly with our thoughts from the event, as he has a lot of similarities to Tank Dell in his ability to dominate when given a two-way go in space, and that ability alone can lead to a truly flashy week of practices in Mobile as we saw out of Dell. With a good pre-draft process and good explosive testing, Cowing will surely be on the dynasty radar for traditional 12-team one-QB rookie drafts at around the same time that players like Jayden Reed and Dell himself were going last season, profiling as a potentially excellent speculative value in the early third round or so. He’s the kind of player who can fit in on an offense from Day 1 given his advanced route running, playmaking abilities in the red zone and associated dynamite breakout age. One area of concern is his 2023 yards-per-route-run (1.75) which is fine but not exceptional.

Do you think I can trust Henry this week against Houston? The Texans shut him down two weeks ago– Option for flex – Henry, Likely or Jayden reed?
Chase playing this week — he is on my bench
thanks
Is it in PPR? If not I don’t think you can play a TE over him.

(.5 PPR) (Long Touchdown Bonuses: +3 for >40y +6 for >50y)
Garrett Wilson or Evan Engram in my Flex spot
Thanks guys, made it to back to back championships in my home league thanks to RosterWatch
Man I hate this spot for Wilson and EE is one TE who is athletic enough to actually earn those bonuses. Also, if Lawrence doesn’t play, Beathard targets the heck out of EE. I can’t believe it but I think I might go EE but I really don’t have much conviction on this one man. GW is probably the optimal play, so if you wanna be optimal go with that.
I’m favored in my matchup so I’m hoping for a floor play for my second flex. I’m gonna go with EE and hope the higher 0/U in that game and the relative success without Zay and Kirk the past few weeks holds up. GW is so nice in a vacuum but I can’t stare at a dud game in my lineup until Sunday. Always gonna ride with the RW boys. Appreciate the help the past 6 years boys! Here’s to going Back-to-Back!
PPR (6pt Passing TDs)
Made it through the ship for the 1st time in my dynasty league! Have my work cut out for me though!
I have to play matchups right! Help me pick the best starts and get a W!
