Trashman’s Starts and Sits: Week 4
Fantasy Plays: Week 4
It’s been a rollercoaster of a fantasy season thus far, and I expect this week to be no different. That being said, there are several surefire plays to keep your fantasy team afloat. Here are the prime fantasy plays going into Week 4…
Quarterbacks
Start:
Jayden Daniels, Commanders @ Cardinals
Daniels is faring the best of the rookie QBs currently starting in the NFL, winning 2 of 3 games and putting up 25+ points in fantasy leagues in Weeks 1 and 3. This week he’ll get his best matchup to date, a contest in a dome against the Cardinals. Daniels is capable enough with his feet to have a productive day, even if the passing game doesn’t thrive.
Other locks:
- Kyler Murray vs Commanders
- Andy Dalton vs Bengals
- Joe Burrow vs Panthers
- Josh Allen at Ravens
Avoid:
Matthew Stafford, Rams vs Bears
Having lost his two top options in the passing game, Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, Stafford is leaning heavily on the running game, and he’s winning. Stafford will have his work cut out for him this week against a Bears team that is currently the 2nd worst matchup for opposing QBs, and he’ll likely cede most of the action to his running backs as a general rule. What’s worse is that he probably won’t run himself, as he’s had zero rushing attempts this season.
Running Backs
Start:
Devin Singletary, Giants vs Cowboys
Sure, Singletary isn’t as talented a back as Alvin Kamara or Derrick Henry, but he still shouldn’t have any problem getting the best of Dallas’ sieve-like defensive front. Kamara and Henry had 266 between the two of them the past two weeks against the Cowboys, making the ‘Boys the absolute best matchup for opposing runners in Week 4. Even if Singletary does half as much damage as either of those guys, he’s still a top play this week.
Other locks:
- Tony Pollard at Dolphins
- Derrick Henry vs Bills
- Aaron Jones at Packers
- Saquon Barkley at Buccaneers
Avoid:
Travis Etienne, Jaguars at Texans
The Jaguars offense has been severely underwhelming through 3 weeks, failing to score more than 17 points in any contest. Etienne has been salvaging his fantasy days by finding the end-zone in 2 of 3 games, but he’ll have his most difficult matchup of the season yet when Jacksonville faces Houston this week. Also, divisional matchups are often slogging, low-scoring affairs, so don’t expect fireworks from Etienne or the rest of the Jaguars offense this week.
Wide Receivers
Start:
Chris Godwin, Buccaneers vs.Eagles
The rest of the Buccaneers offense has been up and down, but Godwin has been consistent enough to set your watch by this season, garnering at least 8 targets and at least 6 balls for 50+ yards and a score in each game this season. His opponent this week, the Eagles, seem to be improving as a secondary, but they’re still at the back of the pack. Chalk Godwin for another rock solid fantasy outing.
Other locks:
- DK Metcalf at Lions
- Marvin Harrison Jr. vs Commanders
- Chris Godwin vs Eagles
- Khalil Shakir at Ravens
Avoid:
Tyreek Hill, Dolphins vs. Titans
Hill is as fast and explosive as they come, but all of that is negated if his QB can’t get him the ball efficiently. The Dolphins offense has been a trainwreck since Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2 that has sidelined him ever since, managing only 3 points as a unit in Week 3 – Hill only had 3 catches for 40 yards. The offense’s outlook doesn’t seem much better this week, as they’ll face a Titans defense that is in the top 3 in defending the pass. You probably can’t afford to sit Hill, but by most accounts you should.
Tight Ends
Cole Kmet,Bears vs Rams
Kmet(10/97/1) exploded in Week 3, with no Keenan Allen to sap targets, and he’s line for another big game in Week 4. He’ll get his best matchup yet against a Rams team that’s been a top 5 matchup for opposing tight ends. Even if Allen returns, the matchup is favorable enough for Kmet to keep him in lineups.
Other locks:
- Brock Bowers vs Browns
- Dalton Kincaid vs Ravens
- Pat Freiermuth at Colts
- Jake Ferguson at Giants
Avoid:
Sam LaPorta, Lions vs Seahawks
As much as I love LaPorta’s talent, he’s yet to score this season, and he’s only caught more than 2 balls in one game this season. Averaging only 3 targets a game, LaPorta just hasn’t been a necessary part of the Lions offense, as the running game has been thriving. What’s worse is that we’ll be watching all week to see if LaPorta can even play with the ankle sprain he suffered in Week 3. Even if he goes, LaPorta could be more of a decoy and isn’t an ideal play this week.

I’m 1-2 and just picked up Roschon Johnson, but now I need to make room for a defense. Should I consolidate two players into a trade? If so, who should I package, and any trade targets I should aim for? If I can’t trade, who’s the drop?
