PRO Byron Lambert’s Week 4 Trade Report

Our objective is to be “Consolidation Nation” for most of the fantasy trade season! That occurs when we make two-for-one and three-for-two consolidation trades in our fantasy football leagues. You may also think of it as “leveling up” by receiving the best player in the deal.

An additionally valuable yet uncelebrated byproduct of the consolidation trade is the liberation of a roster spot- that can be used to farm more waiver wire gold (via the waiver wire cheat sheet). As you rinse and repeat this process over the course of the season, you’ll watch the equity across your roster sprout like a chia pet.

However, your number one weekly priority is winning – and that means fielding a formidable starting lineup. So, if you’re off to a slow start or have a losing record or simply don’t yet have the assets for consolidation trades- you may have to build via free agency and/or through the liquidation side of the trade market until your roster further ripens to engage in higher class trade activities.

Not every week is the week for a trade. Not every sell is a must sell. Not every buy is a must buy. But, you should always be considering. We’ll make it easy for your here all season:

Roster Watch !! I am a pro member I need to pick up a WR (we start TEs as WR and don’t have TES. I currently have Oduzne, Harrison, Samuel, Bowers, Kyle Pitts and Ridley as my WRs. We start 3. 2RBs and a flex WR/RB D Hopkins, J Jennings, J Ferguson, D Goedert are all avail. I would be cutting Ty Chandler
Alternatively, should I be looking at picking up Roschon Johnson or Tajae Spears given my RB stable is a little shaky with Bijan (stable), ken Walker (injured a lot), R White (time share?), J Brooks (who knows)?

Also I can do both and cut Pitts to pick up one of the TE/WRs listed above but seems premature to cut bait on him.

Thanks and I am trying not to panic since its week 4.

    RC

  2. Seems to me you could also consider cutting Samuel. I’d pick up Ferguson for sure and then make a decision b/t Hopkins, Jennings, and Roschon. Kyle Pitts feels like he should get a few more wk but he’s certainly not untouchable

I am on the Goedert side. PPR

    Jonathon Brooks, RB (Car)
    Dallas Goedert, TE (Phi)

    Drake London, WR (Atl)
    T.J. Hockenson, TE (Min)

    1. I prefer the Brooks and Goedert side.

  4. Hey! Pro member here. Not sure how I’ve been able to pull out a 2-1 record (12-man, 0.5 PPR), but I’m still worried about the future of the squad.

    QB: Allen
RBs: CMC, Conner, Hubbard, Roschon, Javonte W
    WRs: Deebo, Godwin, Smith, Shaheed
    TEs: Goedert, Ferguson

Any moves in mind? Not sure if I need to be in the liquidation side of a trade.

  5. Your trade pieces are Hubbard, Goedert, Godwin, CMC, and perhaps Roschon

CMC is the only of the bunch you could really liquidate- and you are thinking correctly that may be your situation here w/ a spotty starting lineup at the moment – question is what can you get for him to make it worth it. B/c he’s injured I actually think you could consolidate with him and another player or two and potentially come out w/ a more formidable sorting lineup than you have at the moment without it becoming anymore incomplete.

Good way to start is to see who is even plausibly available in your league and work back from there. Trading a backup TE geodert to help improve the starting lineup another way you can actually get away with consolidating and also improving a thin starting lineup. I think your best move is Goedert + Hubbard for a better RB at this time- or Goedert + Godwin + Hubbard for a really nice buy low RB + WR combo

    1. Thanks Byron! You’re the man

  6. Consolidation time!

10-team .5 ppr. Trying to upgrade at WR.

Send my James Cook and Jauan Jennings.
    Get Nabers.

    or.

Send my Kamara and Jauan Jennings.
    Get Lamb.

I’m leaning to send Cook since Kamara gets so much volume, but I do worry about Kamara’s age.

My RBs: Gibbs, Kamara, Cook, R White, Allen, Bucky
My WRs: Wilson, Olave, Deebo, Tank, Jennings, Pearsall

His RBs: Achane, Pollard, Dobbs, Zamir White
His WRs: Lamb, Moore, Nabers, Pittman, McLaurin

I have three WR1s in CeeDee Lamb, Malik Nabers and Rashee Rice, and Romeo Doubs, Demarcus Robinson on my bench.

Struggling at RB though. Isiah Pacheco on IR, Rachaad White, David Montgomery, Javonte Williams, Rico Dowdle, Braelon Allen, Roschon Johnson.

What package would you recommend to acquire a RB1, or RB2+WR2?

There is a bottom-dweller with D’Andre Swift and Deebo Samuel that I think I could get.

    1. Love going after Swift here if you can find a wr for rb swap 1:1 or 2:1 consolidation deal that works (ex 2 flex guys for Swift)

If liquidation is your only path there don’t hate liquidating a WR1 (preferably rice) for Deebo + Swift

  8. 12 team ppr
I’m looking to explore a trade.
I trade away Devontae adams, Kamara and goedert.

Looking to acquire Laporta, garret wilson, and Jonathan Taylor.

Should I do it and do you think it is a close enough trade

    1. Kind of a weird deal but I would take the La Porta side of it

thanks Byron – would you cut RIdley or Pitts for McBride (as a TE?)

I currently have Oduzne, Harrison, Samuel, Bowers, Kyle Pitts and Ridley as my WRs. We start 3. 2RBs and a flex WR/RB. TEs are used as WRs in our league and there is no TE slot

Thanks and I am trying not to panic since its week 4.

    1. Yes I would grab McBride fast!

  10. Ah just seeing this post now! Of course I don’t roster anyone on the sell list!

    12-team PPR

I’m 1-2 and just picked up Roschon Johnson, but now I need to make room for a defense. Should I consolidate two players into a trade? If so, who should I package, and any trade targets I should aim for? If I can’t trade, who’s the drop?

    QB: AR
RB: Hall, Henry (Javonte Williams, Brooks*, Dowdle, B. Allen, R. Johnson)
    WR: Evans, Waddle (Legette)
    TE: H. Henry (Hockenson*)
    Flex: JSN, Shaheed
    IR: Pacheco*

    Thanks in advance!

  11. Hey Byron! Got offered Pollard and K Allen for Hubbard, Godwin and Goedert.

My team is up here in the thread. Should I pull the trigger?

    1. I think I would @Chelo- it’s a tough offer which probably means it’s fair. I think on paper Pollard is the best player in the deal and this fits the description of what we talked about above. I also think Keenan could still have some upside- sounds like Deebo returning soon too so I think you can take the risk. I’d probably go for it man and live life a little bit!

  12. Wassup Nation,

Injury bug running rampant on me already this season, and I need to consolidate and strengthen flex and rb.

1.Would you trade away Jordan Love for Amari Cooper? (My other qb is Burrow)

    2. Would you trade away Achane, Mostert, and Juan Jennings for Saquon Barkley and Allen Lazard (maybe able to counter Kirk?
(Other rb’s-perine/pacheco, Benson (keeper eligible for 3 yrs), and Brooks (awaiting his return). (Other wr’s-amon, waddle, higggins, doubs, downs, TE-mcbride and picking up strange or kraft to fill in this week)

    Thanks!

    1. I don’t think I would- I might trade Burrow for Cooper but not Love.

Yes I would make that trade for Barkley

  13. Devonta Smith out, I need to start 2 of these 5, I need 1 RB and then a flex, Half PPR

    Braelon Allen
    Carson Steele
    Jordan Addison
    Xavier Worthy
    Zamir White

    1. I’d choose between Allen and White for RB

I’d play the matchup tool for the Flex (game total and matchup rating)

  14. Hey Byron!

I’m looking to maybe trade for Josh Jacobs or Joe Mixon per the Tradecast, but the other manager wants a WR. Any advice on a fair offer? (12tm PPR)

    My roster (1-2)

    QB: AR
    RB: Hall, Henry
    WR: Evans, Waddle
    TE: Ertz
    W/R/T: JSN, Shaheed

Bench: Javonte Williams, Brooks, Dowdle, B. Allen, Roschon Johnson, Legette (Pacheco – IR)

    Their roster (2-1)

    QB: Stroud
    RB: Jacobs, Mason
    WR: Lamb, Coleman
    TE: Kincaid
    W/R/T: K. Allen, Goedert
Bench: Mixon, Purdy, Chandler, Mike Williams, Doubs, Taysom Hill (Chubb – IR)

What’s a good 2 for 1 package I can offer to land Jacobs or Mixon if you think it’s worth it?

    1. I’d try to ship Waddle and whichever bench RB you think your trade partner values most
