IDP Spotlight- Who Is Brandon Graham, Philadelphia Eagles?

The Philadelphia Eagles moved up in the 2010 NFL Draft to number 13 to acquire a high-motor All-American Defensive End from the University of Michigan, Brandon Graham. Graham had an exceptional career at Michigan, putting up numbers such as 138 tackles, 56 tackles for loss, 29.5 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 3 pass deflections.

He’s second in Michigan history in sacks and tackles for losses. Graham was well on his way to dominating the NFC East and other fellow NFL opponents, as he seems to always find himself in the backfield harassing the opposing QB or RB.

Then, during his rookie season in 2010, being played sparingly, he suffered a season-ending torn ACL. We all should know having an ACL injury is devastating to any player, and one doesn’t return to original form at least a year or two from it.

Brandon has taken in a lot of criticism, most are calling him a bust already, when in reality the dice just haven’t rolled his way. The Eagles are loaded with talent along the defensive line with savvy veterans Cole and Babin, Cullen Jenkins, incoming rookies Cox and Curry, now add Graham to the mix along with Philip Hunt who surprised many this preseason.

The success of fellow early defensive picks of the 2010 class in Earl Thomas and Jason Paul-Pierre has made it hard for Graham to gain any leverage. I don’t think Graham is a bust, how can you judge a player when he’s been injured?

Graham’s been impressive throughout training camp and looking like his old self again, I believe Graham will prove his doubters wrong with an impressive 2012 campaign. I’m keeping an eye out on Graham in the world of IDP this year, and you should too.

Brandon Graham has only 3 sacks in 2 seasons, going undrafted in a lot of leagues and nowhere near people’s radar. I’m here to tell you to put Graham on your radar and although he isn’t starting, when he gets his snaps he will put up numbers.

In leagues where you’re required to start 3 DL, Graham can be a nice DL3 or bye week filler for now. He’s just a Cole or Babin injury away from being a strong DL2 for your squad. If you’re willing to stash Graham or have the room to keep him on your bench than I’d do so, pick him up before word gets out as his upside is just too good.
