Cody Carpentier’s 2024 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

The College Football regular season has come to an end, with a great Monday Night Championship to close it out, so I am here to bring you the third iteration of my 2024 NFL Mock Draft Series. As in prior years, the Mock Draft Series will add one round per iteration with Mock 8.0 coming the night before the 2024 NFL Draft, Live from Detroit. This mock is built on research done across media in an attempt to hit on the 32 players that are expected to be drafted in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Picks will change, Some players may return to school over the next two weeks, and teams will trade between now and April, but if you were here for My 2023 Mock 1.0, I hit on four team matches and the No. 1 overall pick, Bryce Young in Mock 1.0 on December 1st, 2022.

Round 1 – (Pick 1-32)

No. 1 – Chicago Bears – Caleb Williams, QB – USC

No. 2 – Washington Commanders – Drake Maye, QB – North Carolina

No. 3 – New England Patriots – Jayden Daniels, QB – LSU

The newly crowned Heisman trophy winner has garnered a ton of conversation over the past 30 days, amounting to a likely jump into the Top 10 in April. Bill Belichick is yet to depart New England, and current inclinations might be that he is safe for one more season. If Bill is safe, expect this offseason to be a mindful one, starting first and foremost with the athletic quarterback he always dreamed of having. *cough* Lamar Jackson.

No. 4 – Arizona Cardinals – Marvin Harrison Jr., WR – Ohio State

No. 5 – Los Angeles Chargers – Brock Bowers, TE – Georgia

No. 6 – New York Giants – Malik Nabers, WR – LSU

No. 7 – Tennessee Titans – Olu Fashanu, OT – Penn State

No. 8 –  Atlanta Falcons –Michael Penix, QB – Washington

One of the few spots inside the Top 10 that Penix can excel on Day 1. For the fourth consecutive season, Atlanta is picking inside the Top 10, and third consecutive season at pick no. 8. Penix would join a new coaching staff in Atlanta, along with a treasure trove of young talent like Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts.

No. 9 – Chicago Bears – Rome Odunze, WR – Washington

No. 10 – New York Jets – Joe Alt, OT – Notre Dame

No. 11 – Minnesota Vikings – Dallas Turner, EDGE – Alabama

No. 12 – Denver Broncos – Taliese Fuaga, OT – Oregon State

No. 13 – Las Vegas Raiders – Jer’Zhan Newton, DL – Illinois

No. 14 – New Orleans Saints – Jared Verse, EDGE – Florida State

No. 15 – Indianapolis Colts – Terrion Arnold, CB – Alabama

No. 16 – Seattle Seahawks – Laiatu Latu, EDGE – UCLA

No. 17 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Nate Wiggins, CB – Clemson

No. 18 – Cincinnati Bengals – Byron Murphy, DL – Texas

Thinking of a comparable player for Byron Murphy can be nauseating, his build mirrors that of Aaron Donald, while his play isn’t far behind a Grady Jarrett or Geno Atkins. Three names that come with very high praise, but Murphy led the Power Five in 2023, with a 19.6% Pass Rush Win Rate, along with 36 pressures, good for 4th in College Football.

No. 19 – Green Bay Packers – Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB – Alabama

No. 20 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers  – Bralen Trice, EDGE – Washington

No. 21 – Arizona Cardinals via HOU – Cooper DeJean, CB – Iowa

No. 22 – Los Angeles Rams – Bo Nix, QB – Oregon

No. 31 – San Francisco 49ers – J.C. Latham, OT – Alabama

No. 32 – Baltimore Ravens – Tyler Nubin, S – Minnesota

Round 2 – (Pick 33-64)

No. 33 – Carolina Panthers – Chris Braswell, EDGE – Alabama

No. 34 – New England Patriots –Adonai Mitchell, WR – Texas

No. 35 – Arizona Cardinals – Jordan Morgan, OT – Arizona

No. 36 – Washington Commanders – Leonard Taylor, DL – Miami (FL)

No. 37 – Los Angeles Chargers – Kamari Lassiter, CB – Georgia

No. 38 – Tennessee Titans – Xavier Worthy, WR – Texas

No. 39 – New York Giants –J.T. Tuimoloau, EDGE – Ohio State

No. 40 – Washington Commanders via CHI – Chop Robinson, EDGE – Penn State

No. 41 – Green Bay Packers via NYJ – T’Vondre Sweat, DL – Texas

No. 42 – Minnesota Vikings – J.J. McCarthy, QB – Michigan

While soon-to-be 36-year-old Kirk Cousins is recovering from an Achilles injury, the Vikings need to plan for the future. McCarthy can gain a ton from sitting for a season, but with the 2023 season unfolding for the Vikings in a fashion they didn’t want, Joshua Dobbs, Nick Mullens, and Jaren Hall just aren’t the answer. The Vikings likely extend Cousins for two years and add a rookie in the first few rounds.

No. 43 – Atlanta Falcons – Maason Smith, DL – LSU

No. 44 – Las Vegas Raiders – Amarius Mims, OT – Georgia

No. 45 – New Orleans Saints via DEN – Kamren Kinchens, S – Miami (FL)

No. 51 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Troy Franklin, WR – Oregon

No. 52 – Green Bay Packers – Calen Bullock, S – USC

No. 53 – Houston Texans – Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB – Clemson

No. 54 – Los Angeles Rams – Kingsley Suamataia, OT – BYU

No. 55 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Kalen King, CB – Penn State

No. 56 – Miami Dolphins – Brandon Dorlus, DL – Oregon

No. 57 – Philadelphia Eagles – Javon Bullard, S – Georgia

No. 58 – Kansas City Chiefs – Ruke Orhorhoro, DL – Clemson

No. 59 – Cleveland Browns – Devontez Walker, WR – North Carolina

The Browns have been looking for speed for the last few drafts, Donovan Peoples-Jones in 2020 and Anthony Schwartz in 2021. Neither fully hit their stride on the Browns, so the hopes are that Devontez Walker is the perfect complement to Amari Cooper, Elijah Moore, and Cedric Tillman.

No. 60 – Detroit Lions – T.J. Tampa, CB – Iowa State

No. 61 – Buffalo Bills – Edgerrin Cooper, LB – Texas A&M

No. 62 – Dallas Cowboys – Braelon Allen, RB – Wisconsin

No. 63 – San Francisco 49ers – Tyler Guyton, OL – Oklahoma

No. 64 – Baltimore Ravens – Josh Newton, CB – TCU

Round 3 – (Pick 65-100)

No. 65 – Carolina Panthers – Cooper Beebe, OL – Kansas State

No. 66 – Arizona Cardinals – Payton Wilson, LB – North Carolina State

No. 67 – Washington Commanders – Patrick Paul, OT – Houston

No. 68 – New England Patriots – Adisa Isaac, EDGE – Penn State

No. 69 – Los Angeles Chargers – TreVeyon Henderson, RB – Ohio State

No. 70 – New York Giants – Caelen Carson, CB – Wake Forest

No. 71 – Arizona Cardinals via TEN – Tyler Davis, DL – Clemson

No. 72 – New York Jets – Ladd McConkey, WR – Georgia

No. 73 – Detroit Lions via MIN – Zak Zinter, OL – Michigan

No. 74 – Atlanta Falcons – Jalen McMillan, WR – Washington

No. 75 – Chicago Bears – Mekhi Wingo, DL – LSU

No. 76 – Denver Broncos – Brenden Rice, WR – USC

Generally, a player of Brenden Rice’s stature would not be overlooked in a draft cycle, given his family heritage. Rice brings a unique package to the position that reminds me of Zay Jones coming out of East Carolina in 2017, the ability to play bigger than you are while being silky smooth on inside breaking routes as well as understanding defensive schemes and play breakdowns. When Denver moves on from Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, Rice profiles as a No. 2 with upside in a new Broncos offense.

No. 77 –  Las Vegas Raiders – D.J. James, CB – Auburn

No. 78 – Seattle Seahawks – Zach Frazier, OL – West Virginia

No. 79 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Christian Haynes, OL – Connecticut

No. 80 – Cincinnati Bengals – Kiran Amegadjie, OT – Yale

No. 81 – Seattle Seahawks via NO – Christian Mahogany, OL – Boston College

No. 82 – Indianapolis Colts – Braden Fiske, DL – Florida State

No. 83 – Green Bay Packers – Jonathan Brooks, RB – Texas

No. 84 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Donovan Jackson, OL – Ohio State

No. 85 – Arizona Cardinals via HOU –Ricky Pearsall, WR – Florida

No. 86 – Los Angeles Rams – Tyleik Williams, DL – Ohio State

No. 87 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Sedrick Van Pran, OL – Georgia

* – Miami Dolphins – FORFEITED SELECTION

No. 88 – Houston Texans via PHI – Marshawn Kneeland, EDGE – Western Michigan

No. 89 – Kansas City Chiefs – Johnny Wilson, WR – Florida State

No. 90 – Cleveland Browns – Rod Moore, S – Michigan

No. 91 – Detroit Lions – Drake Nugent, OL – Michigan

No. 92 – Green Bay Packers via BUF – Matt Goncalves, OT – Pittsburgh

No. 93 – Dallas Cowboys – Roman Wilson, WR – Michigan

No. 94 – San Francisco 49ers – Nehemiah Pritchett, CB – Auburn

No. 95 – Baltimore Ravens – Ja’Lynn Polk, WR – Washington

No. 96 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Jonah Elliss, EDGE – Utah

No. 97 – Philadelphia Eagles – Malachi Corley, WR – Western Kentucky

The Self-proclaimed YAC King finished his career with 2,056 total yards after catch in his four-year career. The Eagles failed to utilize Quez Watkins as their slot receiver for the last three seasons, after signing Julio Jones and losing Dallas Goedert, the need for a gadget receiver has grown apparent in the Eagles offense.

No. 98 – San Francisco 49ers – Jacob Cowing, WR – Arizona

No. 99 – Buffalo Bills – Mike Sainristil, CB – Michigan

No. 100 – Washington Commanders – Jaheim Bell, TE – Florida State
