Cody Carpentier’s 4-Round 2024 NFL Mock Draft 4.0

The NFL Season has come to an end with the Kansas City Chiefs claiming their second consecutive Super Bowl. It’s now officially draft season, despite it starting in late January down at the Senior Bowl, I am here to bring you the fourth iteration of my 2024 NFL Mock Draft Series. As in prior years, the Mock Draft Series will add one round per iteration with Mock 8.0 coming the night before the 2024 NFL Draft, Live from Detroit. This mock is built on research done across media in an attempt to hit on the 32 players that are expected to be drafted in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Picks will change, and teams will trade between now and April, but if you were here for My 2023 Mock 1.0, I hit on four team matches and the No. 1 overall pick, Bryce Young in Mock 1.0 on December 1st, 2022. In this iteration, I will cover 4-rounds while utilizing some creativity with Free Agency and the NFL Combine on the horizon, plenty will change, so let’s do this thing.

Round 1 – (Pick 1-32)

No. 1 – Chicago Bears – Caleb Williams, QB – USC

Williams has been the wire-to-wire projected number 1 pick, and I don’t see it changing over the next two months.

No. 2 – Chicago Bears via WAS (Projected Draft Day Trade) – Marvin Harrison Jr., WR – Ohio State

Similar to what the Houston Texans did in 2023, I am projecting the Bears to move up from no.9 overall to pair Marvin Harrison Jr. with Caleb Williams.

No. 3 – New England Patriots – Jayden Daniels, QB – LSU

With great depth at the two other major positional needs, Jerod Mayo ties his name to the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner and future of the franchise.

No. 4 – Arizona Cardinals – Malik Nabers, WR – LSU

Two wide receivers in the top-4 should let you know all you need to know about Nabers, he is special, while overshadowed by Harrison Jr.

No. 5 – Los Angeles Chargers – Taliese Fuaga, OT – Oregon State

The Jim Harbaugh experiment starts strong with a blue-chip bookend tackle to protect Justin Herbert and advance the running game. Fuaga was the highest-graded run-blocker in 2023, according to PFF.

No. 6 – Atlanta Falcons via NYG (Projected Draft Day Trade) – Drake Maye, QB – North Carolina

Like Williams, Maye failed to take a step forward in 2023. Showing inconsistencies on occasion and regressing across the board in the statistical category.

No. 7 – Tennessee Titans – Joe Alt, OT – Notre Dame

In 2023 the Titans drafted Peter Skoronski in the 1st round. This year they’ll double-down on the offensive line with all-world OL coach Bill Callahan in town.

No. 8 –  New York Giants via ATL (Projected Draft Day Trade) – Rome Odunze, WR – Washington

After moving down with Atlanta, the Giants top not offensive lineman falls to them. Odunze gives the Giants an immediate impact Alpha on the outside.

No. 9 – Washington Commanders via CHI (Projected Draft Day Trade) – Dallas Turner, EDGE – Alabama

Overlooked for whatever reason, Turner is 10 lbs heavier than his college teammate Will Andereson Jr. with a 0.8% lower pass rush win rate and more QB hits, Turner is the Top EDGE rusher in the 2024 draft.

No. 10 – New York Jets – Olu Fashanu, OT – Penn State

Once considered a Top-3 overall lock, Fashanu has yet to allow a sack in college but fell victim to almost twice the QB hurries in 2023 than in 2022.

No. 11 – Minnesota Vikings – Jared Verse, EDGE – Florida State

The Vikings have held the 11th overall pick just three times. The first time was in 1995 when they drafted EDGE rusher Derrick Alexander out of Florida State. Entering 2024 Free Agency, the Vikings have two edge rushers under contract and six entering free agency.

No. 12 – Denver Broncos – Terrion Arnold, CB – Alabama

After a 5 interception season opposite of Kool-Aid McKinstry, Arnold had become a hot commodity in the draft streets. Also, what’s better than one Alabama All-Pro Cornerback in Denver?

No. 13 – Las Vegas Raiders – J.C. Latham, OT – Alabama

The Raiders have needed new pieces on the Offensive Line since 2021 when they parted ways with Rodney Hudson, Gabe Jackson, and Trent Brown.

No. 14 – Cincinnati Bengals via NO (Projected Draft Day Trade) – Brock Bowers, TE – Georgia

Another “generational” tight end, haven’t we heard this before with Kyle Pitts and Dalton Kincaid? I like Bowers a lot, but that word needs to exit stage left. Bowers in Cincinnati with Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, sign me up.

No. 15 – Indianapolis Colts – Quinyon Mitchell, CB – Toledo

No. 16 – Seattle Seahawks – Laiatu Latu, EDGE – UCLA

Latu is rumored to have potential injury flags arise at the NFL Combine, however, I am not privy to this information, so I’ll stay in the pocket on this flashy edge rusher from UCLA. Latu lit up Senior Bowl practices last month and the value here for Seattle would be special.

No. 17 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Graham Barton, OL – Duke

The Luke Fortner and Ezra Cleveland haven’t been as fruitful as previously hoped, Barton brings versatility after playing tackle throughout his time at Duke and dabbling at Center.

No. 18 – New Orleans Saints via CIN (Projected Draft Day Trade) –Byron Murphy II, DL – Texas

Murphy and his college teammate T’Vondre Sweat combined for a 34.9% Win Rate and 76 pressures, numbers that compare to the 2018 Clemson Interior duo of Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence (29.7% Win Rate and 67 pressures)

No. 19 – Los Angeles Rams – Jackson Powers-Johnson, IOL – Oregon

The most dominant center in the draft, Powers-Johnson participated in two days of senior bowl practices before departing early due to an injury, the only thing that could pull him down in April’s draft.

No. 20 – Pittsburgh Steelers – Troy Fautanu, OL – Washington

After drafting Broderick Jones at no.14 overall in 2023, the Steelers continue to address NEED, by taking the versatile Fautanu from Washington who can slide in at guard in year one if needed.

No. 21 – Miami Dolphins – Jer’Zhan Newon, DL – Illinois

Three of 4 defensive linemen on the roster are not free agents, the Dolphins need depth and the easiest way to fill depth is with a starter.

No. 22 – Philadelphia Eagles – Brian Thomas Jr., WR – LSU

The Quez Watkins experience was fun, but after adding Julio Jones in 2023 it was apparent the need for a true deep threat and there is nobody better in the 2024 draft class to fill that need.

No. 23 – Houston Texans via CLE – T’Vondre Sweat, DT – Texas

Sweat entered Texas at 265lbs and after four years he is tipping the scales at north of 360lbs, in 2023 Sweat’s interior dominance led the Texas defense to a College Football playoff appearance alongside his counterpart Byron Murphy (See pick. 18)

No. 24 – Dallas Cowboys – Jordan Morgan, OL – Arizona

In 2023 the Cowboys’ decision came down to OL, Matthew Bergeron, and the eventual selection of DL, Mazi Smith. This year they take the offensive lineman, with Tyron Smith aging out.

No. 25 – Green Bay Packers – Nate Wiggins, CB – Clemson

The potential departure of All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander opens the door for Wiggins.

No. 26 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers  – Bralen Trice, EDGE – Washington

No. 27 – Arizona Cardinals via HOU – Tyler Guyton, OT – Oklahoma

In 2023, the Cardinals drafted Paris Johnson Jr. to be their future left tackle, after Guyton gets to Glendale, protecting Kyler Murray is no longer a worry.

No. 28 – Buffalo Bills – Cooper DeJean, CB – Iowa

My least favorite selection of Round 1, every year Buffalo feels tougher and tougher to nail what direction they will go.

No. 29 – Detroit Lions – Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB – Alabama

Once looked at as a Top-10 pick, McKinstry was “out-played” by his teammate Terrion Arnold, however, in 38 career games, McKinstry has allowed just three touchdowns. Great value here for Detroit.

No. 30 – Baltimore Ravens – Amarius Mims, OT – Georgia

This is low for Mims, his ceiling is Top 12, however with just 8 career starts at Georgia, projecting a landing spot for him to play RT on Day 1 or a team that can allow him to sit for a year is minuscule.

No. 31 – San Francisco 49ers – Darius Robinson, EDGE – Missouri

Rising as of late after putting on a show in Mobile for the Senior Bowl, Robinson slides in opposite of Nick Bosa as Chase Young’s half-season venture comes to an end.

No. 32 – Kansas City Chiefs – Ennis Rakestraw Jr., CB – Missouri

The potential departure of L’Jarius Sneed is looming, and at a position where you can never have too many good talents, the Rich get Richer.

Round 2 – (Pick 33-64)

No. 33 – Washington Commanders via CAR (Projected Draft Day 2 Trade) – Bo Nix, QB – Oregon

No. 34 – Minnesota Vikings via NE (Projected Draft Day 2 Trade) – J.J. McCarthy, QB – Michigan

No. 35 – Arizona Cardinals –Chop Robinson, EDGE – Penn State

No. 36 – Carolina Panthers via WAS (Projected Draft Day 2 Trade) – Troy Frnaklin, WR – Oregon

No. 37 – Los Angeles Chargers – Kris Jenkins, DL – Michigan

No. 38 – Tennessee Titans – Kamari Lassiter, CB – Georgia

No. 39 – New York Giants – Cooper Beebe, OL – Kansas State

No. 40 – Washington Commanders via CHI – Chris Braswell, EDGE – Alabama

No. 41 – Green Bay Packers via NYJ – Patrick Paul, OT – Houston

No. 42 –  New England Patriots via MIN (Projected Draft Day 2 Trade) – Keon Coleman, WR – Florida State

No. 43 – Atlanta Falcons – Ladd McConkey, WR – Georgia

No. 44 – Las Vegas Raiders – Zach Frazier, OL – West Virginia

No. 45 – New Orleans Saints via DEN – Michael Penix Jr., QB – Washington

No. 46 – Indianapolis Colts – Xavier Worthy, WR – Texas

Worthy is the most interesting of the wide receivers in this class, the talent screams first round while his prior injuries and frame will likely push him into the early 2nd round.

No. 47 – New York Giants via SEA – T.J. Tampa, CB – Iowa State

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmbmtARhqx4

No. 48 – Jacksonville Jaguars – Adonai Mitchell, WR – Texas

No. 63 – San Francisco 49ers – Kiran Amegadjiem, OL – Yale

No. 64 – Kansas City Chiefs – Malachi Corley, WR – Western Kentucky

Round 3 – (Pick 65-100)

No. 67 – Washington Commanders – Javon Bullard, S – Georgia

No. 68 – New England Patriots – Blake Fisher, OT – Notre Dame

No. 70 – New York Giants – Audric Estime, RB – Notre Dame

No. 71 – Arizona Cardinals via TEN – Kalen King, CB – Penn State

No. 72 – New York Jets – Roman Wilson, WR – Michigan

With Randall Cobb likely departing, Aaron Rodgers and the Jets get a younger and dynamic version of Cobb in Roman Wilson.

No. 73 – Detroit Lions via MIN – DeWayne Carter, DL – Duke

No. 74 – Atlanta Falcons – Payton Wilson, LB – NC State

No. 75 – Chicago Bears – Brandon Dorlus, DL – Oregon
