Combine On-Field Receiver Performance Scores – Every Rep in Indy
Here we present our exclusive on-field testing scores for every WR who took part in the 2015 NFL combine.
Every year, RosterWatch brings you exclusive notes on WR on-field drills from live inside Lucas Oil, where only a very limited group of 20-30 media members have access – thanks the NFL and the Pro Football Writers of America. Rest assured, we are the only outlet to chronicle each rep with such detail. We take notes on every route and receiving drill run by all participants in Indy.
Since 2012, this painstaking and maniacal practice has helped us identify under-the-radar prospects who have the movement skills, receiving abilities and general fundamental bases as pass-catchers and route-runners (such as John Brown, Albert Wilson, Martavis Bryant and numerous others) that forced us to go back to the tape and examine them more closely. It has also helped immensely in validating our initial positive thoughts on players such as Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd, Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans and Robert Woods.
This year, we’ve taken it a step further for RosterWatch Nation.
Here you can view our spreadsheet. GOOGLE SPREADSHEET LINK
It’s complete with notes (sometimes detailed, sometimes quick) on every rep by every receiver in every drill. Within the spreadsheet, we have assigned a quantitative value to each observation by the members of RosterWatch respectively. The reasoning being, that we view the on-field portion of drills for WRs as every bit as important (and frankly, usually more important) than the easily referenced measurables from standard tests such as the 40, the 3-cone, the vertical leap, etc. (Which are not included in this metrics rating system) This way, we have a numeric value assigned to the overall picture that was presented to our four eyeballs from inside the combine.
We have separated the participants into tiers based on their on-field performance scores. Some of top scorers you likely expected, and if you’re anything like us, some came out of the blue. The same goes for those at the bottom of the rankings tiers. With further ado, here are our 2015 NFL combine on-field receiver performance scores and tiers:
