Coughlin: Surgery a Possibility for Ahmad Bradshaw
Coughlin: Surgery “An Option” for Ahmad Bradshaw
Alex Dunlap, Rosterwatch.com
Giants HC Tom Coughlin, while addressing the media during open portion of Friday practice was asked if the possibility of surgery was on the table for RB Ahmad Bradshaw. He said “At this moment, it is. Yes.”
This is nothing new, as we knew that surgery has always been a possibility-but, from the reports we are getting in practice, the vibe is starting to lean more that way. His foot injury is a chronic one that he has been able to play through. How you “play through” metal screws getting beaten, bent and whacked around through your fragile dorsal skeletal structure is beyond me, but he has done it.
He is inactive for Week 10 in what was going to be a terrible matchup at San Francisco anyway- So owners are not hurt as badly in the near term. Brandon Jacobs will get the majority of carries Sunday, and likely be spelled by Danny Ware in occasional duty once the 49ers linebackers beginning teeing off on the tip-toeing Bear’s big, slow, upright target of a body. (To the reader we told to Start Denarius Moore over Jacobs yesterday- You’re Welcome.)
Surgery would likely shut down Bradshaw for at least the remainder of the fantasy season, and possibly longer- So the fact that a tight-lipped Coach like Coughlin would answer like this even with the qualifying “At this moment…” statement is a little disconcerting. We’ll have a run down of all of Friday’s injury news on our Injury Page later this afternoon, which is updated WED-SAT with reports from practice.
