Cut Bait or Just Wait?

It’s getting colder, so a little extra fat is good…everywhere but on your roster. Time to trim that bad boy.
Michael Vick QB, Eagles: An unfortunate end to an unfortunate season for Michael Vick. It looks like Ron Mexico will most likely sit for the rest of the season after being concussed against the Cowboys in week 10. This actually might be a good thing for him, as Nick Foles showed us that he’s not ready for the big stage just yet in relief of the often maligned veteran. That being said, you can drop Vick and still sleep soundly at night.
Isaac Redman RB, Steelers: Ugh, it’s musical chairs in Pittsburgh again, and Redman looks like the last man standing. Jonathan Dwyer regained his place in the starting lineup against Kansas City on Monday night, leaving Redman to pick up the scraps. He’s still worth a roster spot, but I wouldn’t dare play him.
Mario Manningham WR, 49ers: Two twenty yard outings in the last two weeks have left Manningham owners wanting more. I don’t know if it’s going to get any better for the talented receiver in an offense that is predicated on the run. He’ll have decent days, but it will be spotty. Don’t bother holding onto him.
Kevin Ogletree WR, Cowboys: Every time you think he’s busted out, he pulls himself back in. Ogletree is as frustrating a wide receiver as any, showing glimpses of greatness then returning to his underground lair for another three weeks. A 96 yard, 1 TD outing against Atlanta made way to a big goose egg against Philadelphia. Leave that kind of variability to someone else’s squad.
Taiwan Jones RB, Raiders: It’s pretty bad when your own coach doesn’t trust your decision making, and that seems to be the case for young Jones. He ended up playing third fiddle to Marcel Reece and Jeremy Stewart (who?) this past week. He has the skill set, but I doubt Jones will get to show it anytime soon. Drop him like a bad habit.
Ryan Tannehill QB, Dolphins: I wouldn’t say Tannehill has regressed, but he has. He’s ranked 29th among starting quarterbacks in the league right now, and that’s reason enough to cut him.
