Cut Bait or Just Wait? Who To Drop, Who To Keep in Fantasy for Week 6
Each of us has that player on our team that has a big name – or a stellar performance just under the surface – that is keeping them on our rosters. Things change quickly in fantasy though, and the key is to know when to disregard the pedigree and move on to new blood or stick with it for one more week. Here’s my take on what to do with some of the guys who are giving owners fits in fantasy going into week 6.
Khiry Robinson RB, Saints: Khiry had a nice run for a few weeks, but all indications point to Mark Ingram coming back in week 7 and taking the reigns of the backfield once again. Pierre Thomas will retain his role as the primary pass catching back in New Orleans, leaving Robinson to spell Ingram. If there’s a Storm Johnson or equally appetizing pickup on your waiver wire, Robinson can be dropped. Cut Bait
Niles Paul TE, Redskins: Paul, outside of his concussion, has done very nicely in Jordan Reed’s stead, but Reed is slated to come back from his hammy injury this weekend. Hamstring issues can linger though, so I would hang onto Paul until we see that Reed is out of the woods health wise. Just Wait
Lorenzo Taliaferro RB, Ravens: Taliaferro looks like the least effective of the Ravens backs, and he has the least experience so that counts against him too. Now that Bernard Pierce looks fully healthy again, I expect Taliaferro to be bumped down to the third option in a lackluster running back corps. Cut Bait
Jordan Matthews WR, Eagles: Matthews has done little since his two TD week 3. He’s arguably the team’s best athlete at the receiver position, but he’s not being utilized in any worthwhile way. Still, he’s seeing around seven targets a game, so I think it’s just a matter of time before he breaks out again. Just Wait.
Brandon LaFell WR, Patriots: Another week, another Patriots receiver fades into obscurity. Just one week removed from a Monday night monster, LaFell put up a one catch, 20 yd stinker in a Patriots win no less. He will have better games, but he might have worse ones too and you don’t want to have him in your lineup when that happens. Cut Bait.
Isaiah Crowell RB, Browns: Sigh, it’s frustrating to see Cleveland’s best back relegated to a miniscule role, but that’s a reality I’ve come to live with this season. I still have the feeling that Crowell will rise to the top in spite of his situation. Tate has never stayed healthy for long, and Crowell is worth the roster spot. Just Wait.
Donald Brown RB, Chargers: Brown has been startingly uneffective in the games he’s started in Ryan Mathews’ stead, and Branden Oliver has been anything but. Mathews hasn’t even begun practicing again though, so there may yet be use for Brown in deeper leagues. He’s a hold. Just Wait.
Toby Gerhart RB, Jaguars: Gerhart is a no go this week, and even if he was, he’s somehow become the least appealing of any Jaguar back. If you didn’t get the message last week, Toby Gerhart is disposable in all leagues. His experiment has been a failure of Blaine Gabbert like proportions. Cut Bait

Better stash on my bench in a standard league. Mike Evans or Odell Beckham Jr? Thanks!
Is it time to cut bait on K. Allen? Is it time to just admit he isn’t the 2nd round guy we all thought?
What are the chances Davis outperforms Kaepernick tonight and has a better fantasy day?
