It’s been reported by the NFL Network that Fournette is being cut from the Buccaneers. It’s not a surprising move, as cutting him will free up $3.5 million in cap space while also adding $5 million in dead money. Fournette is now 28 years old, ancient for an NFL RB, and though he’ll undoubtedly find a new home, it’s unlikely he’ll be the starter. We’ll be hoping for a goal line role somewhere. Current Tampa starter Rachaad White is already up in our rankings, and depending on the draft, he could keep moving up.

Carson Wentz

The Commanders cut Wentz on Monday, saving $26.2 million against the cap. It was a predictable outcome, as Wentz flopped as a starter for Washington, just as he did for the Colts the year before. With an 11 to 9 TD to INT ratio in just 8 games in 2022, Wentz won’t get many if any offers to start in 2023, but it’s possible some team that drafts a rookie QB takes him on as a stop gap until the younger QB gets up to speed. In any case, Wentz’s dynasty capital is at an all-time low.

James Cook

Bills GM Brandon Beane told RW’s Alex Dunlap at this year’s Combine that he’s “excited” about James Cook and “looking forward to what he can do … with an expanded workload and more touches.” With Devin Singletary being a free agent and somewhat redundant with Cook around, plus Nyheim Hines being floated as a cut candidate, Cook is currently in the lead to head up the Bills backfield in 2023. It seems likely that Buffalo will draft a rookie RB this year, but it looks like Cook’s job to lose come training camp.
