Dynasty Rookie Spotlight: Daniel Braverman, WR Western Michigan
Daniel Braverman, WR Western Michigan
Height: 5′ 10”
Weight: 177 lbs
40 yard dash: 4.47 (pro-day)
NFL Comparison: Cole Beasley, Harry Douglas, Andrew Hawkins
Scouting Notes: Braverman played exclusively out of the slot, and he dominated in that position. He was the only slot WR to best Sterling Shepard in yards per reception 3.27, and he came in second in the nation in total receptions in 2015 with 109. His huge 2015 season led Braverman to make a decision to forego his senior campaign and Western Michigan and declare early for the NFL draft. Braverman excels in all the technical aspects of the game — great hands, polished route running, and multiple speeds on field. He also exhibits a toughness and lack of fear that a productive inside man has to have, especially one of his size. Braverman has surprising speed, but he’s even quicker than he is fast on the field. That quickness helps him make decisive first cuts that evade defenders like a jitterbug and boosts his YAC. It will be interesting to see how he fares against the NFL’s larger corners. His quickness will only go so far. He’s going to have to put on some weight to be of any consistent use.
Fantasy Outlook: Braverman’s lack of size is going to keep him out of the first 3 rounds of the NFL draft, but anything’s possible after that. He has cogent football intelligence, and he would fit right into virtually any offense. If his production in college is any indication, Braverman has the goods to be a PPR star in fantasy. He’s a welcome speculative add in any dynasty league that gives points per reception. He’ll be a late-round flier until we know the situation he falls to, but if it’s a good one, there are few sneakier options in this draft to thikn of as a lottery ticket. Our NFL draft expert Mike Loyko recently said on the RosterWatch radio program that Braverman was one of five prospects in the entire draft he is most intrigued by. He’ll certainly be one to keep an eye on.
