Fantasy Fallout From the NFL’s Week 12 Games

The Fallout on Sunday and Monday’s Games
The Trashman, Rosterwatch.com

Much has transpired over NFL week 12. Here, I’ve aimed to make sense of things going forward:

JoshGordon– Josh Gordon will be fine even with Brandon Weeden at QB. Most of his yardage against Pittsburgh came with Weeden under center.

– I guess we spoke too soon. (Editor’s note: WE (as in RosterWatch) didn’t say anything. I guess the Trashman has some sort of filthy creature in his pocket.) Chris Ogbonnaya has not run away with the running back job in Cleveland. Fozzy Whittaker is well within the mix, making the situation one to avoid.

– A big old goose egg is just one of the perils of depending on a third receiver like Jerricho Cotchery. Consider that when heading into the playoffs.

– Mike Glennon is a fine fill-in for those dealing with QB woes. He’s got a tough schedule ahead, but he’s had some of his best games against Carolina and Seattle already.

– While Glennon will weather the storm, I’m not sure Bobby Rainey can. The Bucs’ schedule is brutal for running backs, and Rainey is not a grinder.

nateburleson– I’ve gotten some flack for my love of Nasty Nate Burleson, but games like the one he had on Sunday speak for themselves. If he’s not owned in your league, pick him up.

– If you’re in a league that gives points for return yardage, Cordarrelle Patterson needs to be on your roster. He’s going to have a big playoff run.

– Regardless of who ends up starting at QB for Green Bay on Thanksgiving, we’ve seen that both Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien can be serviceable. They play Detroit, so all three primary receivers have upside.

– Eddie Lacy is doing a knock-up job, but he’s getting knocked around doing it. It might be smart for his owners to pick up James Starks where they have the space.

– It’s been made apparent that the Chiefs are only impervious to teams outside their division. Don’t be afraid to trot out players from the AFC West against them.

– If Keenan Allen has hit a rookie wall, he’s crashing right through it. Philip Rivers loves him, and he’s going to have a great rest of the season.

danny woodhead– It seems obvious to me that Danny Woodhead is the most dynamic back that the Chargers have. I think he’ll see a rise in looks and carries as we near season’s end.

– Ladarius Green is worth a pickup in leagues where you can play tight ends.

– I would take Benny Cunningham’s 100+ yard performance on Sunday with a grain of salt. It was against the Bears after all.

– Lamar Miller owners have finally gotten what they want, a lonely backfield. Daniel Thomas’ injury has done for Miller what he couldn’t do himself.

– Steve Smith is droppable in any type of fantasy league.

deangelo williams – No Panthers RB is worth starting right now. It’s a true RBBC and a crappy one at that.

– Nick Folk has been one of fantasy’s best kickers, but he’s not worth starting with the way the Jets have been moving the ball– or haven’t been, rather.

– The same can be said for any Jets receiver.

– Ace Sanders is going to help carry smart PPR league owners to victory this season.

– Ben Tate has been slated to start next week, but Dennis Johnson has earned significant carries for the Texans.

– The shine has started to wear off of Case Keenum. If you can only manage 6 points against the Jaguars… that’s awful. The Texans should have listened to RW’s constant pleas to draft a QB in 2013..

– As long as Matt McGloin is QB in Oakland, Rod Streater is an WR3 with upside.

– Darren McFadden should be playing behind Rashad Jennings when he returns. His job has been effectively taken.

KendallWrightPainting– Kendall Wright has turned into the stud we always thought he would. Start him with confidence the rest of the way.

– Delanie Walker has a mediocre day, but he’s still getting a ton of targets. Hold onto him.

– I’m really scared about the Colts offense right now. I think they’ve lost their mojo.

– Michael Floyd has creeped into WR2 status. He’s a weekly start until further notice.

– Worried about Jordan Cameron’s season? Pick up Rob Housler.

– Looks like Dez Bryant is back on the scene. He is going to feast against Oakland on Thanksgiving.

– Miles Austin had none of the impact we thought he might on Sunday. He’s a bench hold until he shows reason not to be.

andre brown– Andre Brown keeps running with the job. He’s got a brutal schedule to finish out the playoffs though with SD, SEA, and DET up next. It might be smart to trade him, if you still can in your league.

– I really don’t know have high hopes for Stevan Ridley. The Pats can run the ball effectively with Brandon Bolden and Shane Vereen. You might have to sit Ridley, at least for this coming week.

– Kenbrell Thompkins seems to have worked himself back ahead of Aaron Dobson, again. The WR situation in New England is tenuous at best, especially with Vereen back in the fold.

– Even though C.J. Anderson got most of the carries when Knowshon came up lame on Sunday night, Montee Ball will be the back to own, if Moreno can’t go this week.

– Peyton Manning doesn’t play that well under bad weather conditions. Keep that in mind going forward.

rg31– RGIII is a QB2.

– If are still allowed trades in your league, Anquan Boldin is a nice sell high. Mario Manningham is working his way back into the mix and Michael Crabtree is returning soon. –

– With 8 carries last night, Kendall Hunter is worth a speculative add as we enter the fantasy postseason.
