Free Agency Impact on the Washington Football Team By Ani Sridhar (Follow @anisri23 on Twitter)

During the RosterWatch Podcast (#336), Alex Dunlap is joined by Aaron Lesher from HogsHaven.com to break down the fantasy football impact of the offseason moves made by the Washington Football Team.  What does Ryan Fitzpatrick bring to the table? Who are they targeting in the NFL Draft? Where will they finish in the division in 2021? The guys answer these questions and more.

With the addition of Ryan Fitzpatrick in the nation’s capital, Aaron believes this is an upgrade for WR Terry McLaurin.  He finally has a quarterback that will throw the ball down the field and this will increase his fantasy football value for 2021.  On the flip side, Aaron downgrades running back J.D. McKissic because he doesn’t see Fitzpatrick checking the ball down to the RB as often as Alex Smith did in 2020.  Without the PPR aspect, J.D. McKissic does not offer much to fantasy football owners.  Aaron sees no change in Logan Thomas for Fantasy and likes him to repeat as a Top 12 Fantasy TE in 2021 with Fitzpatrick under center.

Moving on to the RB position, Washington brought back veteran rusher Lamar Miller on a one-year deal.  Aaron Lesher is not worried at all about RosterWatch’s golden son Antonio Gibson‘s fantasy value after this signing and is actually expecting his price to go up as we near Fantasy Football draft season and will still be buying in on the 2nd-year back for the 2021 season.

With the NFL Draft around the corner, Aaron and Alex talked about the Football Team’s biggest needs to address in the draft.  Even thought they signed Fitzpatrick, Aaron believes he is still a bridge QB and if one of the top QB’s falls to them at #19 they will pull the trigger on a rookie passer.  Besides QB, the team’s two biggest needs are at left tackle and linebacker.

Unfortunately for Washington fans, Aaron does not see them repeating as division champs and gives the edge to the Cowboys. However, with now seven teams making the playoffs from each conference, he sees them sneaking in as a wildcard team.
