Friday Fantasy Football Links, Notes, Stats and Images

We’ve always told RosterWatch Nation that Ben Tate stinks, and while he’s out, it looks like Browns HC Mike Pettine has big plans in mind for both rookie runners (who we like MUCH better) in Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell. It would not surprise us to see Tate rendered virtually useless upon return should these two get things going as a 1-2 punch.

Following Thursday night’s dominating win over division rival Pittsburgh, here are how the year-to-date targets are shaping up for the Ravens receiving corps:

1. Steve Smith Sr. – 25 targets (two-week target monster to start)
2. Dennis Pitta – 18 targets (a measly 3 on Thursday Night)
3. Owen Daniels – 11 targets (and two Pitta TD-snipes Week 2)
4. Torrey Smith – 10 targets (ouch, do people still consider him elite?)
5. Justin Forsett – 10 targets (and the “1b” in the rush offense)
6. Jacoby Jones – 8 targets (and very little done with them)

If fantasy points were calculated by NFL teams, you would not want to own the Giants per one poster on the r/fantasyfootball subreddit. How ’bout those Falcons, though?

…..

Colts QB Andrew Luck is tickled that you remembered his birthday. On September 12, the NFL’s top young gun at the quarterback position turned 25 years old. If you didn’t feel old already, Luck was born in 1989.

…..

A fine citizen on the r/minnesotavikings subreddit broke down all of Cordarrelle Patterson and Percy Harvin’s Week 1 rushing attempts for their respective squads and analyzes why they work as well as how to stop them. Hint – they’re not easy to stop.

…..

There’s never not a good time to share a Smokin’ Jay Cutler image. To be honest, he looked like he needed a beer and a cigarette at times on the sidelines versus Buffalo in Week 1.

…..

Per DenverBroncos.com, WR Demaryius Thomas‘ “per-game averages in the last four games that followed sub-50-yard tallies are 6.25 receptions for 123 yards and a touchdown. Given that Thomas has averaged 107.8 yards in his last four games against Kansas City — including three games of more than 100 yards — it would be no surprise if he has a similar rebound performance Sunday.” (Editor’s Note: It’d be no surprise to us either given what the Matchup Tool spit out this week.)

…..

Hilarious YouTube video of Jets HC Rex Ryan mic’ed up and crying about referees giving the Oakland Raiders preferential treatment in the calling of penalties during Week 1.

…..

Our buddies at NFLDraftDiamonds.com are hearing that the Giants are sniffing around former Clemson star QB Tajh Boyd with the huge lack of bodies and talent the organization has at the position. (Editor’s note: Remember when Ryan Nassib was going No. 8 to the Buffalo Bills?)

According to the new ELO rankings at Nate Silver’s 538 blog, here are the early favorites coming into Week 2 for the NFL’s eight respective division titles:

NFC West: Seahawks 45% chance
AFC West: Broncos 65% chance

NFC South: Panthers 53% chance (only 25% for the Saints)
AFC South: Titans 45% chance

NFC North: Vikings?!?!?! 40% chance (only 17% for the Packers!)
AFC North: Bengals 49% chance

NFC East: Eagles 50% chance
AFC East: Patriots 35% chance

  1. I have a question regarding starting a tight end in my full point ppr 6 point per TD league for week 2. I have Jordan Reed slotted in my IR position as he is out this week and who knows for how long. I have both Travis Kelce and Dwayne Allen. They both have similar matchups according to the matchup tool. Who would you start?

    1. I would go with Allen. I see him as more of a red zone threat than Kelce right now.

  2. Loved my draft getting ap at 6. Funny how quickly things change. Stacy needs a big week for me. Waiver wire is garbage right now. Should I consider taking a flyer on Hester. 1/2 ppr. Could throw Fred Jackson(currently flex) in rb and leave Stacy on bench. Caldwell floating out there as well. Any other deep names people may miss. In division matchup. Grrr

    1. Hester could be worth a shot, but I like some other guys as well. I’d keep Stacy in though. He’s still the goal line half of that rbbc. Pick up Matt Asiata if you can. I also like Carolina backs not named Williams and Murray in Oakland.

      1. Worried about Marshall starting as well

We’re all worried. It’s a Sunday night game. If he is a game-time decision it will be tricky- because if he’s a scratch you’re looking at Santonio Holmes off your waiver wire maybe a steve johnson- or somebody sorry in the MNF game like Avant or Whalen- maybe Nicks. Our gut says he plays, he finished the game last week. Good luck and play it out as long as you can Sun morning before making decisions.

  3. 2 questions, I play in a 12 team PPR league should I start R. Mathews or B Rainey or B Cunniningham as my RB2?
Also who should I start in my two flex spots out of E. Decker, M. Evans or J. Hunter?

    Thank you in advance.

    1. Mathews, Hunter, Evans GL

  4. as my WR3, would you start kelvin benjamin in ppr or mike floyd? And rank this guys in PPR order for this week…gerhart, doug martin, mike floyd, terrance west.
