Garbage Grab: Week 5

Garbage Grab Week 5
Dorian “The Trashman” Colbert, Rosterwatch.com

NFL week 5 is upon us, and injuries abound. Fortunately for waiver wire scroungers like myself, this provides a wealth of opportunity to lesser known and owned players.

Devery Henderson WR, New Orleans: Henderson is always a boom or bust kind of guy, but the odds are skewed in his favor this week, as Lance Moore is not playing. In what is quickly becoming a lost season for the Saints, it behooves them to go big in what should become a shootout versus San Diego.

Ronnie Hillman RB, Broncos: Hillman is the future of the Denver running game, according to team sources, and we’ve already seen the harbinger of change in a sixty three yard effort last week. Already the passing down back, Hillman has a good chance of making an impact for the second week in a row in New England this Sunday.

Brandon Jacobs RB, 49ers: The tip-toe burglar, as he’s so affectionately referred to in the Rosterwatch circle, has a chance to start stealing touchdowns in his first game off of injury this week. San Fran didn’t acquire him to not use him, and I think they will right away. He will be largely touchdown dependent though.

Dwayne Allen TE, Colts:  He’s been less than impressive this far, but hopefully the Colts have devised some plans to get him the ball after their week 4 bye.

Rueben Randle WR, Giants: Plagued by work ethic questions, the talent filled rookie has a shot to silence the critics against a Joe Haden-less Browns team. with Victor Cruz being the only true starter going this week, this could be Randle’s week.

Justin Blackmon WR, Jaguars: Leading the way with ten targets last week, the hapless Blackmon’s stock could be on the rise. with Laurent Robinson out for the near future and maybe more, Blackmon will be a target hog from this point out. Hopefully those targets amount to catches of more then five yards a piece.

Ryan Tannehill QB, Dolphins: I guess the scouts were right. Tannehill looks like the real deal after what looked like the second coming of Dan Marino last week against the Cardinals. He’s got a thumb injury on his throwing hand this week, so temper your expectations, but the kid has heart and a decent matchup against the Bengals.
