Garbage Grab: Week 8
Garbage Grab: Week 8
Dorian “The Trashman” Colbert, Rosterwatch.com
If you’ve been getting hurt by the past several bye weeks, than you haven’t been paying attention. Here’s another installment of my waiver wire winners for the upcoming slate of games.
Ryan Broyles WR, Lions: Broyles had somewhat of a coming out party last week with 51 yards and a touchdown against the Bears, and is now locked in as the third receiver in Detroit with Nate Burleson out for the season with a broken leg. He’ll see a ton of single coverage with Megatron taking most of the attention in the passing game, leaving many opportunities for the rookie to make an impact. Look for his arrow to continue its upward trend against the Seahawks this week.
Brandon Stokely WR, Broncos: Manning’s safety blanket has three touchdowns over the past four games, and will continue to see a good amount of action against New Orleans in what stands to be a real shootout. I can’t think of any better plug and play receiver this week.
Matt Hasselbeck QB, Titans: Don’t look now, but Matt Hasselbeck could be staking his claim for the permanent starter in Tennessee with two straight wins. Seriously, this is Jake Locker’s team, but the coaching staff feels comfortable knowing they don’t have to rush his healing. Hasselbeck will start this week against the Colts, and will have a compliment of healthy receivers to work with. Now that the running game is alive and well for the Titans, the passing game will benefit considerably. Feel good about starting him this week.
Shane Vereen RB, Patriots: Coming off of a productive game last week, Vereen will be the direct backup to Steven Ridley versus St. Louis in London. The absence of Brandon Bolden helps his chances, as does the fact that coach Belichick said that his carries will increase regardless of Bolden’s availability from here on out.
Phillip Tanner RB, Cowboys: Felix Jones is the hot commodity in Dallas right now, but Tanner could be the back that really matters right now. He got two more snaps than Jones last week, and worked with the first team a good amount this week. More importantly, of the two backs, he’s the one that should be available on your waiver wire right now. Go get him.
Jamie Harper RB, Titans: Three weeks, two touchdowns. Harper appears to be the full time goal line back for the Titans, and though he won’t get a ton of carries, he will make the ones he gets count.
Devery Henderson WR, Saints: See Brandon Stokley’s tidbit and apply it to Henderson. If there’s a week to play him this is it.
Leonard Hankerson WR, Redskins: As long as Garcon is out, Hankerson stands to benefit as the number one option for the league’s most exciting quarterback. That’s worth a start in most fantasy leagues.
Logan Paulsen TE, Redskins: Nice knowing you Fred Davis. Chris Cooley was added to the roster this week, but the Shanahan’s have stated that Paulsen is their guy right now. He’s worth a spot start for at least this week.
