Giants WR Rueben Randle Could Run Wild
I’ll Have the Rueben
Dorian “The Trashman” Colbert, Rosterwatch.com
As the very respectable NFL career of quarterback-turned-receiver Antwaan Randle El comes to a quiet close, another Randle is hoping to make a name for himself in the league. Rueben Randle, no relation, is the “new guy” in the Giants wide receiving corps but he already has a leg up on the competition for the No.3 job in New York. Pegged as “NFL ready” by the Giants staff, Randle shouldn’t have too much of a learning curve to overcome as he already runs a full compliment of routes. It should be noted that OC Kevin Gilbride has implied that Randle is having at least some difficulty learning the offense. We’ll monitor the situation closely, but I’m not terribly concerned.
Described as a cross between A.J. Green and Julio Jones (and even mentioned in the same sentence as the two by Janoris Jenkins who guarded all three in college,) Randle is 6’3″ and 210 pounds. An impressive athlete who would be the go-to guy on most NFL teams from opening day on. The Giants are not most NFL teams though, and Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz are at the top of the totem pole in Gotham, for now. So while I don’t necessarily see Randle having a huge rookie season, it is possible for three receivers to thrive with Eli Manning at the helm and a suspect running game in tow. Also, Randle could easily become a popular end zone target considering his height. Dynasty leaguers should already have this guy on their radars, but this talented rookie is definitely worth a flier in redraft leagues too.
