PRO: RosterWatch Week 11 Matchup Tool

alex bylineWelcome back. This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested, most popular tool, the instructions couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Chiefs RB Charcandrick West, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look at the Chiefs’ matchup for the week, and see what the number is inside the “vs. RBs” cell for the Chiefs’ OPPONENT.

(West is an RB and you would like to know his opponent’s rank vs. that position.)

As you will see, the Chiefs are playing the Chargers, who have a big, blue ‘No. 1’ in their “vs. RBs” cell. This is a great indicator for West in Week 11.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and sit in season-long leagues and which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

“1″ is the best matchup, “32″ is the worst.

COLOR-CODES
(you like blue matchups best)

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics from 2015, but also weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive unit scouting grades for members of the 2015 unit that will be defending, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question.

  1. Should I try to make a trade or stay put? Trade deadline is approaching. 10-team league, team started 5-1…now 6-4. Have put up good weekly totals, but have been up against weekly rosters with the highest scorer (i.e. Brees, Tannenhill, ODB, Brown, etc.). My team is 3rd in scoring, last in points allowed (next highest team has had 200 less points scored against them).

    Roster:
    Palmer
    Lat Murray, Forsett, Ellington, Sims
    Julio, Dez, Fitz, Landry, LaFell
    Gates, Gillmore

    Questions
    1. Should I stay put and trust that Dez and Julio will continue to put up enough points to offset weak RBs?
    2. Or, do you recommend putting Julio (2 games vs. CAR) or Dez (concern about Romo’s return and Dez’s attitude) on the trading block to strengthen RBs?
    3. If you recommend trying to pull off a trade, which WR and what kind of player(s) should I go for? For example, would Julio/Forsett for AP/Jordan Matthews make sense? Or, are there other players I should shoot for?

Thanks for your help. I am

    1. i think you might be able to get decent rb help without trading either. i think you could couple landry or fitz with gates or forsett to achieve the same end. i know he sounds lame but jonathan stewart or lesean mccoy could be gotten for as much. or someone might even take a landry or fitz straight up for a woodhead or deangelo williams.

      1. DC thanks! Never considered offering up either Fitz or Landry for better RBs before your reply. Was able to get Ivory/Nate Washington for Fitz and still have Julio and Dez for WRs. Thanks again.

        1. Wow, thanks to your reply, my RBs have gone from Lat Murray and Forsett to Ivory and Char. West. Gave up Fitz and Landry, but still have Julio, Dez, Stevie Johnson, Lat Murray and Lafell. Stoked.

  2. 1/2 PPR league. I have Frank Gore (starting) and the following RB’s:

    Antonio Andrews
    Alfred Morris
    David Cobb
    Eddie Lacy
    Joique Bell
    Shaun Draughn

Who do i start for my second RB out of the group above?

    1. aye, i think it’d have to be andrews. cobb should start to mix in though.

  3. My boss needs a QB. I need the G’s at rosterwatch to make me look like a genius. 5pt pass and rush TD.

    Mariota – currently rostered
    Tannehill
    Cutler
    Flacco
    Fitzpatrick
    Cousins
    Taylor

  4. For us, this comes down to Mariota vs Taylor vs Fitzpatrick. Flacco, Cousins, Cutler tough matchups we aren’t investing in. We aren’t going to recommend a QB coming off hand surgery on the road against a Texans defense that is heating up. This leaves Tyrod as the other option. We are going to default to a pretty big difference on the matchup tool here- and roll with Mariota. Good luck!

    -Byron

    1. Thanks, Byron. The matchup tool is why Mariota is rostered already.

  5. I’m somewhat hurting at TE, 12 team 1/2 pt PPR. Would you start Clay or Thomas at TE this week/tonight?
(Ertz, Gilmore, Cameron available on waivers).

    1. i see clay getting more targets

      1. Thank you Dorian, appreciate the response. One more quick one – between Forsett and Gore this week, who are you starting? They’re pretty close in every category right now, including the matchup tool for this week.

        1. np, i’m going with gore

  6. I’m in a 1/2 PPR and have two lineup questions…

Tannehill or Tyrod Taylor (6 point TD)
I’m starting Lamar Miller and need an RB2 – Ellington or Shaun Draughn

    Thanks!

  7. Thanks DC
