RosterWatch Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet: Week 7

Byron BylineWinning fantasy football means being active on the weekly waiver wire. You have to be, as the season morphs before our very eyes from week to week in dramatic fashion. It’s nearly impossible to go coast to coast in any competitive league with the team you drafted. What this means is, every week you need to identify the unproductive garbage at the bottom of your roster – and exchange those players for the hottest new pickups of the week. Often times these free agent acquisitions end up being valuable commodities that can change the course of your season.

The RosterWatch Waiver Wire Cheat Sheet is a weekly tool that will help you easily navigate this process, with expert results guaranteed. Researching free agent pickups can be mind-numbing and time-consuming, so we’ve done all the work for you with this simple one-page document. Use it exactly like the Draft Cheat Sheet- start at the top and work your way to the bottom.

All players in the tool are less than 50% owned across all major fantasy sites. Many of them may even be had for free on Wednesday morning after waivers run. Please post any questions about the player rankings within this tool in the comments section below.

  1. With Cam appearing to get his running groove back, what do you think of speculatively adding jonathan stewart who should be healthy before deangelo williams

    1. It’s fine to add him. I’m not expecting anything more than mid range flex status out of him though.

  2. Looking at some advice for my waiver priorities – 12 man standard league
    QB – Matt Ryan
RB, Demarco Murray, Leveon Bell, Mark Ingram, Doug Martin
WR – Michael Floyd, Brian Quick, Kelvin Benjamin, Crabtree, Victor Cruz
    TE – Julius Thomas

Somehow Cam Newton and Vincent Jackson are available on waivers right now, and my waiver is priority 2 and I’m concerned with Matt Ryan going forward. So this is what I’m thinking

Priority 1 – Cam Newton drop Crabtree
Priority 2 – Vincent Jackson drop Victor Cruz
Priority 3 – Jerrick Mckinnon drop Doug Martin
Priority 4 – Andre Holmes drop Victor Cruz

    Thoughts?

    1. I’d switch Cruz for Crab on your first priority. In fact I’d have Cruz for the 1st and 2nd. You’re going to get one of the two, and It’s unlikely that either player will come around to you after the first round of waivers. Crabtree is worth keeping.

    2. I would switch Cruz for Crabtree as your first drop option.

  3. Need to drop a player to pick up a DEF for the week (I have the Eagles and they are currently the highest scoring D in the league). Who would you drop for NEP one week Def fill in:

    Alfred Blue (I have Foster)
    Antone Smith
    Matt Asiata
    Mohamed Sanu

    Thanks!

    1. I’d drop Asiata of that group. McKinnon is taking over that backfield.

  4. K boys is it time to give up on donnell I have the option to pick up Jordan reed..

    1. grahamhill87-

Yes, it’s time to pick up Reed. We might still hold Donnell just in case, though with the Cruz injury- just to see what happens. If you can’t have both- yes we’d drop him for Reed. Good luck.

  5. Thanks for your help first of all. 12 team .5 ppr league someone wants my TY Hilton and they are offering me Fred Jackson, M Asiata and Z Stacy. My current RB’s are Leveon Bell, Chris Ivory, D Martin and Storm Johnson. By receivers are Crabtree, Garcon Sanu and Malcom Floyd. Don’t bust a gut laughing at me. Fred is the only one worth while but I don’t it will help me enough. Thanks,

    1. robbaja-

We would keep Hilton and attempt to cultivate RBs on the waiver wire. We need somebody a little better than Fjax for TY in a PPR. We don’t care about Asiata or Stacy. Good luck.

      1. He also has Lamar miller. Would you recommend I counter for him?

  6. Post By Floridaboiterk

is this a fair trade offer? Oliver/Matthews and Watkins for J.Reed and Terrence Williams? My current TE’s are Donnell and Amaro. Or should I wait and see what Amaro offers?

    1. Floridaboiterk-

It’s a little much to give up to speculate on Reed. Although, we do like Terrance Williams. We have been very high on Amaro since the Jets drafted him, and own him in some of our personal leagues. We’d hang tight and see what you can do with Amaro while also still playing the waiver wire for other TE pickups. Good luck.

  7. Would you drop Kendall Wright for Andre Holmes, or James Jones?

    1. csb01-

Yes we would. Jones is the safe pick up- Holmes offers the upside. Depends on what you want. Derek Carr is a legitimate QB. Good luck.

  8. My receivers are killing me. I have k. Benjamin as wr1, then p.harvin and c. Patterson. Is it time to drop one or both of the latter? I have m. Evans after the bye and picked up j. Hunter. LaFell and A.Holmes are on the waiver wire. Any suggestions? Maybe drop Patterson for Holmes?

    1. serpent_89-

You need WR help so much, it scares us even more to drop CP- you might need him later in the season. Harvin is a keep. Mike Evans is for real. We’d drop Hunter for Holmes in a New York minute. Good luck.

p.s. You got screwed on a Percy Harvin monster last week, your WR may not be as bad as you think.

      1. Thanks. I put in the waiver request. I’m 5th in line, so we’ll see what happens. I’m also pretty bad at RB with Doug Martin, Rashad Jennings, Darren Sproles, and Shane Vereen. With 2 injuries and one bye out of those 4, I”m looking to pick up another RB off the wire just to make it through this week. I was thinking Ronnie Hillman or Jeremy Hill. What do you think?

      2. I also should have mentioned that I need “upside”. My record is 2-4 and the division leader is 6-0. It is a 12 team standard league.

  9. I currently have Donnel as my TE and am trying to work a deal to get Jordan Cameron. I currently have the following on my bench and am trying to figure what to offer up. Cousins, J. Bell, Hillman, McKinnon, Sankey, Taliafero, K. Allen and K. Benjamin. Suggestions? The Cameron owner is very thin accross the board and is looking for a flex option. Amaro and J. Reed are out there on wiavers as well? If i go that route who do you drop? Thanks

  10. Jager56-

If you can convince him to take Donnell and Hillman, you will be a genius. If that’s a no, we’d make the next offer Sankey. Good luck.

  11. I was offered Cam Newton and Rainey for my Lynch and Garcon… what should I counter with or should I hold all together as I’m 4-2 but 5th in this 12 man league? I’ll be trying to snag McKinnon, Crowell and Holmes off waivers this week btw …

    My team:
QB: Austin Davis (should I drop for A. Smith, Palmer, or Hoyer?)
    RB: Lynch, A. Williams, Jennings & T-Rich
WR: Julio, Garcon, Patterson, Gordon & Evans
    TE: J. Thomas
    FLEX: Gronk

    His team is as follows:
    QB: Cam
    RB: Murray, Rainey, Hillman, Ridley
WR: Dez, B. Marshall, Randle, M. Jones, Quick
    TE: Witten
    FLEX: T. Williams

    1. Oh also another owner is trying to snag Lynch and Gronk from me and offered up Flacco, M. Bennett and Hopkins… I need advice! Who should I offer up!?
      Here’s his team:
      QB: Brees, Flacco
RB: Morris, F. Jackson, T. West, C. Johnson
WR: Cobb, D. Jackson, Hopkins, A.J. Green
      TE: Bennett
      FLEX: D. Walker

    2. I wouldn’t do the trade. Lynch is your lynchpin.

    3. renourka-

We like Cam, but wouldn’t do this trade. You need Lynch. QB is too deep- just play the waiver wire. We think Rainey is undervalued- but we don’t consider him as much more than a throw in for you in this deal. We’d send him Garcon and TRich as the absolute maximum for Newton- and we might want Quick back in return. Good luck.

  12. Need some feedback, 14 team PPR, I’m sitting at 2-4 and need a spark. My roster:

    QB-Luck
RB- McCoy, Mathews, J Hill, McKinnon, Asiata, Knile Davis
WR- Cruz, Wallace, T. Smith, Decker, Quick
    TE- Kelce, Clay

So I have traded McCoy/Decker for Lacy/Starks/Micheal Floyd. I also plan to drop Cruz tonight once FAAB processes for C. Shorts or A.Robinson, how did I do?

    1. I think you did a nice job in that trade. I would try to consolidate at the rb position now. Maybe pair a couple of those guys for someone really dependable.

  13. Post By mscarborough89

I’m 2-4 in a standard league my running backs are Ahmad Bradshaw, Steven Jackson, Zac Stacy, Doug Martin, Jeremy Hill Branden Bolden. Trade offer came in for Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson and Reggie Bush for Stacy, Hill, and Bolden. Is that worth trading or should I sit tight and start praying? It’s unsettling for me to see the 2nd and 3rd string make Stacy look irrelevant

    1. mscarborough89-

Don’t love it. But, Ivory is solid- and Bush could pay dividends at some point. Although, we believe you could hang tight with Bradshaw and Hill (who we love). Is there anyway you can keep Hill and ship Martin instead?

A triumvirate of Bradshaw, Ivory, Martin or Hill – would be solid. Yes, Stacy does look irrelevant- it’s something we’ve been worried about since the Draft when St Louis took Mason.

  14. Hey guys, I’ve just got a couple quick questions. The first question is that with the Victor Cruz news, should I drop Roddy White, Eric Decker, Torrey Smith or Bishop Sankey to pick up Rueben Randle? I’m fairly deep at rb with McCoy, Forte, Oliver and Mathews, Ball, and Sankey, but not so much at wr with C. Johnson, Benjamin, White, Decker, Torrey Smith, and Josh Gordon. My second question is I have Matt Ryan as my qb, and he’s been pretty consistent so far. But he’s coming off a tough week, playing away from home and outdoors against a good ravens d. Do I stick with Ryan or bench him for Cousins, who has had some struggles lately too but put up solid fantasy numbers and has a good matchup this week? Thanks

    1. mfiechtner94-

We’d stick with Ryan and would drop Torrey for Randle. Good luck.

  15. Who would you start? Matt Ryan, Carson Palmer, or Alex Smith. Thanks

    1. csb01-

      Palmer. Good luck.

  16. PPR – Sankey or Crowell? Thanks.

  17. I’m looking for one wr and one flex in a .5 PPR 12 team league. Crabtree, Sanu, Andre Holmes, storm Johnson or Donnell. Thanks guys.
