RosterWatch Week 1 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only traditional “fantasy points against” metrics (schedule-adjusted after 3 weeks of play), but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2022 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow/pace, sportsbook indicators, volume of total projected snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you roster Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Seahawks (Lockett’s team). You will see that the Seahawks’ opponent (OPP) is the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the RAMS’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the SEAHAWKS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the THE RAMS). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Seahawks, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means that Lockett faces our best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 1 (the Rams). This is a great indicator for fantasy managers of Lockett – as well as DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba (if he is active). It is also a positive one for those thinking of rostering them in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: Vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift, or as injuries to key defensive personnel occur.

1 is the best (easiest) matchup, 32 is the worst (toughest).

Tyler Actually Made it. 0-0 0.5ppr 10 teamer
    2 parter:
    1. 2 RB from B Hall, R White, Javonte, J Cook?
    2. 2 flex spots from the remaining 2 from above, Devonta Smith and Tyler Lockett?

Other starters: Hurts, Jefferson, Amon Ra and Waller.

Thanks in advance, 7th or 8th season I believe with rooster watch Nation. I only play in one season long and I’ve gotten 1 1st, 2 runner ups and enough through DFS to keep a smile on my face.

    1. I’d say White + Javonte or Cook-

I’d play either WR over Hall. Then I would decide whoever your leftovers are from Devonta/Tyler vs Javonte / Cook

But, wait for our rankings and follow the matchups and game totals to make final decisions

    2. Thank you very much for your longtime loyal support! Best wishes this season!

Ready for a HUGE season guys, thanks for all you do……When will the value indicator picks be available??? thanks

  4. Would you rather own Higbee or Van Jefferson during Kupps absence?

    1. I’d rather Jefferson to start. I think we know what we have in Higbee, and I’d like to see what Jefferson’s ceiling is before settling on him.

  5. Also would you drop Marquise Brown for Achane? Have plenty of WR depth (Olave Devonta Higgins Sutton Mims) and need RB depth

    1. I’d rather drop Mims. I don’t think you need two Broncos WRs and Jeudy will be back sooner or later

    Team Name: #2 Receiver

Question – with Kupp on the shelf, how viable does Van Jefferson become? In a 1 pt. ppr, I could run out him, Mike Williams or Cortland Sutton as my WR3. Or, I could play him in my flex over Isaiah Pacheco or Dameon Pierce. We also have 0.25 pt per carry for RB.

    Thanks!

    1. It’s hard to say as is. I’d flex him if I didn’t have more known commodities, but I think you do. I’d give it a week if you have that luxury

      1. Post By christopherdavidhui@gmail.com

Thank you! So right now I’m running Mike Williams in the WR3 with Pierce at the flex. You think that’s the way to go or should I run Pacheco at the flex instead?

I just received the following trade offer..
My Scary Tary and Zay Flowers for Kupp and Atwell..
My other WR’s: Godwin, Hollywood, Waddle, E Moore.
    Smash or Pass?

      1. Thank you, i was on the fence about it but was leaning towards passing..

  11. Need to drop one:

    Allgier
    Breece Hall
    Antonio Gibson
    Khalil Herbert
    Skyy Moore
    Zay Flowers
    Burks

I have Bijan so I’d like to keep Allgier as a handcuff but finding it hard to justify.

    Starting Line Up:
    QB: Goff
    RB: Bijan Robinson
    RB: Aaron Jones
    WR: Olave
    WR: Davante Adams
    WR: DK Metcalf
    TE: Waller
    Flex: Montgomery

    1. I have to drop TA here.

      1. thanks!

  12. start sit Qs

Lamar or Tua – Houston tough D

james cook or zach charbonnet — Jets tough D

    thanks

    1. I don’t think the matchup tool is saying that HOU is a tough D, I think it is saying that it thinks that it will not be a good traditional game script for traditional QB scoring. Go Lamar and Cook. I typically look at matchups for closer calls than these.

With Kelce out is it worth putting Sky Moore in the flex over a Mike Evans/Brandon Aiyuk?
