RosterWatch Week 13 Matchup Tool Now Available
Welcome back.
This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.
It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.
DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.
The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2017 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.
…
INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.
Let’s say you own Chargers TE Hunter Henry, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.
First, look down the list and find the Chargers (Henry’s team). You will see that the Chargers opponent (OPP) is the Browns in Week 13, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”
These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Browns’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.
They are not the rankings for the Chargers, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the Browns). In the “OPP vs. TEs” cell for the Chargers, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Henry faces the best possible matchup for opposing TEs in Week 13 (the Browns). This is a great indicator for owners of Henry, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering either of him in DFS contests.
Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.
With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.
“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).
COLOR-CODES
(you like blue matchups best)
BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

Standard league, final week of regular season. Win and in, lose and out.
If Devonta Freeman is a go, how much better do you like Joe Mixon over Tevin Coleman?
If Devonta Feeman is a no go, is Coleman far and away the better option than Mixon?
if Freeman is a no-go, yes we like Tevin better but it looks like Tevin is going to go. If Freeman is in, I think I have to side with the volume Mixon will get against a front seven that is built to pass rush much moreso than fit up run-gaps. Tough call.
Non ppr-Trust Evan Engram with Geno starting at QB? Could also go with Clay or ASJ. Also, someone dropped Dez. Should I grab him & drop DJax?
Go with Engram, Belichick always tries to shut down Clay. I might pick up Dez for DJax, personally in standard.
Already locked in to the playoffs but can’t get a bye so this week doesn’t matter much. Looking ahead to next week at qb I have big Ben at Baltimore and Mariota at Az. I can pick up Winston who will play Det or Hundley against Cleveland for nothing now. Should I take one of them to possibly start next week?
don’t want Hundley at all, would prefer picking up Jamies or maybe even Jimmy G who has great matchups in Weeks 14/15.
Thank you guys for helping me get to the playoffs!
12team PPR:
Keenum or Winston?
Pick one- Derrick Henry, Randal Cobb or Zay Jones?
Think you have to roll Keenum. Keep an eye on our QB rankings.
Very close between Zay and DH.
Best wishes to continued success!
Funchess or Mckinnion PPR
Crazy close.. Could be a big week for McKinnon. Looks like Lattimore is likely back for the Saints. Although, DF has been a plenty solid play. Two very good options, great problem to have.
Flex questions tonight — 1) I can start 3 WR (1 in flex) — need to leave 3 on bench — M Gordon, K Hunt, D Freeman, A Collins, L Murray, and T Coleman — I am tempted to go with Gordon, Hunt and Collins. What do you think?
2) WR issue — I have two starters who can’t play this weeekend — R Woods and Crabtree. I am left with 3 to start – M Thomas, D Parker and Dede W, — Should I drop Parker for — Seth roberts? zay Jones? D Inman? T Lockett or perhaps someone else.
3) I really should try for a trade — Would you trade Wentz of Wilson ( I have both on the team) or would you trade an RB)
As usual thanks for your comments/suggestions
If I win this week – sweet play-off position and cash$$$! 8-4 1st place
Rivers and Goff
CMcCaffrey, Tev Coleman, DFreeman, SPerine, EElliott
THill, GTate, SDiggs, CoreyColeman, JuJuSmith-Schuster
Greg Olsen, A.Sefarian-Jenkins
PPR Play 1QB 3WR 2RB 1Flex Who should I play – need a little upside
Also available as FA are: KDrake, DBooker CDavis, Inman, SShepard, MBryant
Who to drop? Do I keep GOlsen?
Drake needs to be owned, period.
See our rankings, as they continue to be updated.
Prob – Rivers, Perine, CMC, Hill, Diggs, CColeman + Freeman, or maybe JuJu if you’re loving him.
If you acquire Drake- I’d likely flex him.
Good squad, BTW…..
12 man ppr, in need of a #3 WR. I have to choose from the following…P. Richardson, C. Coleman, Inman and Westbrook. The rankings are much different from the match-up tool so looking for some help.
Thanks
I prob like Coleman the most. Am totally fine with PRich or Inman if you’re feeling it.
Huge week. Win I’m in winner bracket. Lose I’m in loser bracket (loser has to do a full QB, WR, kicker combine recreation including drills and have it filmed and posted…).
PPR. Need two RB from Freeman, McKinnon, Duke, and Rod Smith and WR and Flex from Dez, Corey Davis and any leftover RB.
I have the black anaconda as well but I assume you’d want to wait a week to see how it shakes out.
Thank you in advance RW!
KC
Love the Combine Challenge for the shit eater!
Duke + McKinnon + Devonta
I dunno man- I think I’m uncaging the Anaconda. Letting him slither out into the wild.
If that scares you too much- it’s between Davis and Smith for me.
F it. Might as well unleash the beast. Thanks.
Re: combine punishment. I left out we are all between 40 and 55…. we expect massive hammy/groin pulls and a broken finger or two during the gauntlet.
haha, that’s awesome. It’s not RosterWatch if somebody isn’t on tilt.
This is a great loser penalty. I would love to see this.
1/2 point ppr. Need one, unless I move Perine or Lewis out of flex…
Parker
Diggs
Dez
Agholor
Thanks….
Prob Diggs or Agholor.
Win or go home. Standard league. Evan Engram or Alfred Morris?
Morris is a safer play in standard. Besides the Raiders D, we dont know who Smith will like to target. Look what happened to Brate when Winston went down. Not saying that will happen but it could
Flex, full point PPR. Mixon, Morris, Doctson, Tevin Coleman, or King Drake?
I like Doctson, too. But don’t sleep on Mixon. He might have finally turned a corner.
I like Doctson a lot this week. Safe play might be Drake though. He is due a ton of touches this week if williams is out
Flex WR issue — I have two starters who can’t play this weekend — R Woods and Crabtree. I am left with 3 to start – M Thomas, D Parker and Dede W, — Should I drop Parker for — Seth Roberts? zay Jones? D Inman? T Lockett or perhaps someone else. thanks
I think you can swap Parker for Zay Jones. Jones could be in for a big game.
I would stick with what you have. If this is ppr you can consider Inman since he the number one he will have a solid floor.
12 team PPR flex position:
Alfred Morris
Marvin Jones
Ajayi
Doug Martin
D. Parker
Ekelar
Need win for first place and first round bye
Let’s work backwards. Not Ajayi or Martin or Parker.
I’m not as high on Marvin Jones because of the matchup, so it’s between Ekeler and Morris for me.
If Morris gets the 15+ carries, I think he has the higher upside, but it’s not by a lot since Ekeler can get so much work as a receiver from the backfield.
I would go with Jones. Stafford is looking his way all the time and he had a great game vs a good corner last week. He is also getting a lot of endzone looks. Im not a huge fan of Ajayi due to the fact they play so many backs but Philly should put up so points and he has a good chance of finding the endzone. Dallas’s offense just looks awful so im not sure how Morris’s carries will go. They could be down a lot quickly in their game vs washington. Im not sure why everyone loves Ekelar so much. Personally I dont want anything to do RB that gets less than 10 touches most games. That being said he could see a few more touches if LA gets up big. I would not even consider Martin or Parker at this point.
Full point ppr doctson or Emanuel sanders ? Thanks!
Doctson
I think Doctson is a clear choice but you might want to go back and see how Sanders did with Siemian under center. I believe Sanders was putting up really good numbers then. If this is true Sanders could have a really good game and have pretty solid floor.
Sisters of the Poor, 9-3 (fighting for #1 and bye). On a 7-0 run because of you guys.
1pt PPR, Murray or Jamall Williams?
Replace Marvin Jones in flex with either one?
Leave Jones and play Williams. Assuming TY does not play.
If Ty plays, then Murray?
It becomes closer. I would need some more info on the amount of carries Williams would get before I could make that call.
Standard league, trying to hold onto first place. Starting Fournette, Gordon, Brown, and Allen. Who should I use as flex Lynch or Doctson?
I kind of like Lynch here, especially if the Raiders feel the need to play conservative if Cooper doesn’t go in addition to no Crabtree. Lynch could get some strong volume.
Lynch should be inline for a lot of carries but he is very TD dependant. His floor is way too low for me. I roll Doctson.
In a half point PPR. Would you drop K. Benjamin or Corey Davis for Rishard Matthews? I also have the Titans D/ST going this week with Seattle on my bench thinking I might keep them for playoff matchups.
Thanks!
Doctson or Lynch in ppr?
Doctson
On second thought…. I would almost always go with the rb over a wr but I just got a feelin… now that is either from the Mexican food I just ate or…. I will let you decide.
I’ve seen a couple of people facing this decision. In PPR, I think I would definitely lean more towards Doctson. He’s going up against a pretty lean Dallas secondary.
In standard, I think it’s a little more nebulous. Personal preference probably clears some of that up, but if you expect Lynch to get volume, and he might with an offense that likely won’t have Cooper and Crabtree, the number of playmakers is limited so I would expect Lynch to get a lot of work if the game script plays in Oakland’s favor.
PPR am i crazy to even thing about starting in my flex, crowder over kareem hunt?
The Walrus once again has screwed up a good thing. Usually he waits til the playoffs. If he does it again this week then I would say No yo are not crazy but it is your call.
Agreed. There’s no denying that Hunt is a stud, and you generally always start your studs. But given recent trends here, there’s no shame in going against conventional wisdom.
1pt ppr plus extra points for over 40yds passes & TDs. should I drop Corey Davis for Josh Gordon? And if so should I start him over Kupp. Need a win to get into playoffs.
Yes and yes.
Sex Panther 7-5
I’m starting Perine & Gordon as RB’s and M. Thomas and Allen as my WR’s. I have Crowder in as flex now. Would you leave him or start Bro Mixon or Marv Jones over him. It’s a full point PPR
Crowder has looked great lately. I’d keep him in.
Need one RB, one WR and one flex.
Fournette
Drake
Crowder
Hill
Anderson
Fournette, Crowder, Hill.
8-4 1st place I want to pick up KDrake (free agent) and play in flex
Who do I drop? Greg Olsen?
Here’s my team: PPR Play 1QB 3WR 2RB 1Flex
Rivers and Goff
CMcCaffrey, SPerine, Tev Coleman, DFreeman,, EElliott
THill, SDiggs, CoreyColeman, GTate, JuJuSmith-Schuster
TE: Greg Olsen, A.Sefarian-Jenkins
(1) Squad: WRs – Hopkins, Evans, AJGreen, JDocston, CDavis, CColeman ||| RBs – TColeman, Mixon, AP, ACollins
On twitter, you let me know that my squad was solid, but that you might think about trading AJ Green for an elite RB. Who’s a realistic RB trade target?
(2) Not sure when the Trashman flex rankings come out, but if you had to start 1 WR & 1 Flex, what would you choose – TyFreak, Doctson, Lynch, Henry
I can’t decide on 2 between TyFreak, Doctson, and Lynch.
Need 2 out these guys Diggs, Josh Gordon, Kupp, Dez. 1pt ppr extra points for 40yd catches & TDs.
PPR: RB 2 & Flex: T.Coleman, D Murray, Inman, KUPP
Love the Gold & Sizzle
1st in a 14 Team, 2nd in a 12, ALL About the Sizzle!
Thank You Roster Watch Nation!
With Eli Manning out Would you still start Evan Engram? Or would you start Hunter Henry?
Need a win. Big Ben, McCown, Keenum, T. Taylor?
