RosterWatch Week 14 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2020 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Packers RB Aaron Jones, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Packers (Jones’ team). You will see that the Packers’ opponent (OPP) is the Lions in Week 14, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Lions’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the PACKERS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the LIONS). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Packers, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Jones faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 14 (the Lions). This is a great indicator for fantasy owners of Jones as well as Jamaal Williams, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering them in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

  1. Full PPR

    M. Thomas or AJ Brown in the flex

I have DK and Adams going already.

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

Probably AJ Brown, assuming we get the report that he’s healthy and ready to go!

  2. Cam Akers or Miles Gaskin? Half point PPR

  3. Post By Byron Lambert

If Salvon Ahmed and others are still out, I’d probably go with Gaskin. If the MIA backfield gets at all murky, then I’d roll w/ Akers.

  4. Standard league, pick 1 to sit. M. Sanders, JK Dobbins, Ronald Jones, and M. Gaskin.

    1. believe it or not I’m sitting Sanders.

  5. 10 team Half-PPR (9-4)
    1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 FLEX, 1 TE, 2 IR (6 Bench)

Missed 2nd seed BYE tiebreaker by 27 points so it’s win or go home time in Week 14 RW!

Currently Jacobs is in an IR spot from last week and until Gibson gets declared OUT on Yahoo, then I’ll be forced to drop someone like Booker tonight in order to activate Jacobs again BEFORE I’m even able to put in claims for McKissic or Coutee. I have last priority so is it safe to drop Booker now for the slight chance I claim either of those waiver pickups? Let me know if you see an alternative strategy but obviously I’m a Jacob and Gibson owner.

    QB: Big Ben
RB: Montgomery, Hunt (R. Jones, Gibson, Akers, Booker)
WR: Adams, Ridley (Diontae Johnson, D. Samuel)
    FLEX: Evans
    TE: Henry
    IR: Jacobs, Kittle

    Available:
RB: McKissic, Lindsay, Bell, Edmonds, Singletary, Moss
    WR: Coutee, Hilton, Patrick

    1. Damn too late now.

      1. sorry to miss it, we usually circle around to questions in time for kickoffs, but we didn’t get to it on a WED night.

  6. Pick 2 please: Zeke, Gordan, Gallman.

    1. I’d go Zeke and Gallman.

  7. Flex question —I can start 3 WRs and 3 RBs or 4 WRs and 2 RBs. – I plan to start Jones, Kamala and Alan robinson. Need three other starters. I have Akers and David johnson, – Parker, aiyuk, Deebo and Pittman. Which three would you start? I leaning towards Akers, Aiyuk and Parker. What do you think?

    1. I think that is fine, they all project within 1.3 points of one another. GL man.

  8. We get 6 pts for passing TD’s do I play Jackson or Brady at QB

Also PPR need 1 Crowder, Samuel or Akers. I have James Robinson and Gaskin for RB’s but both are questionable. With Akers playing Thursday I am wondering if he is the right play.

    1. Lamar. If you are worried about one of those guys not going, I think it is fine to play Akers tonight in your RB slot then you have the flexibility of the FLEX spot in case JROB and/or Gaskin don’t go.

  9. First place secured 10-3 (thanks RW), but have to play this weekend first round of playoffs. PPR – need (2) of McLaurin, Woods tomorrow night, and Kamara. Who should sit? Thanks.

    1. man, I think I need to sit Woods – very tough scene.

  10. It’s time to show some love to the Fantasy Guru’s at RW.. I have 4 teams, all 4 made the playoffs and 2 earned first round bye’s thanks to the folks here at RW..
Now a couple of questions for 2 of my teams.
This particular team I’ve had some horrible luck with injuries and suspensions. But made the playoffs so all is not lost.
    – I need 1 RB, 1 WR and a flex from the following.. Bernard, M Gordon, Z Moss, Agholor, Meyers, Coutee, T Higgins, P Barber and Golladay but he ain’t playing..
    – I need 2 WR’s and a flex from the following. AB, Parker, Godwin, A Rob, J Taylor, Juedy, Corey Davis, Pittman.
    And Gronk or Fant.
Thanks again for a great year.

    1. Congrats and thank you for the support.

If PPR or .5 I think it’s Bernard Gordon Coutee

ARob, Godwin, J Taylor (if AJB is out I might have to get in Corey Davis tho).

      Gronk.

      good luck sir.

      1. Thank you, and yes it’s standard PPR.

  11. Hey guys, made the playoffs once again thanks to you! Need some advice on waivers

    My team
    Herbert
    CEH Jacobs Dobbins J Williams
Evans Kupp Cooks TeeHiggins Pittman Deebo
    Hockenson Ertz
Would you drop anyone for Hilton Akers TyJohnson McKissic or Hurts?
    Thanks!

    1. yes, if PPR, drop Ertz for JDM, if standard drop him for Akers.

  12. Post By nicholsm430@comcast.net

Should I play C. Krupp tonight or wait and use either M. Gordon or TY Hilton this weekend?

    1. Id roll Kupp, YOLO. GL.

  13. Need 3 of 5 to fill 1RB, 1WR, 1Flex
David Johnson, Dobbins, Devante Parker, Marvin Jones, DJ Chark… Thoughts? Much appreciated

    1. Dobbins Parker Marvin for me, GL.

      1. Thanks!

    Full PPR

Kyler Murray or Herbert at QB?

    and

Mostert, Bernard, Akers or Mckissic at the flex? Thanks.

    1. I think Murray actually has the safer floor even tho I have Herbert ranked one spot ahead. We have them projected at 20.2 and 20.6 respectively. If you put a gun to my head it makes me change my ranking to go Murray in the playoffs. I’m gonna flip flop those two. In full PPR I’d lean McKissic. GL.
