RosterWatch Week 15 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2019 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Seahawks RB Chris Carson, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Seahawks (Carson’s team). You will see that the Seahawks’ opponent (OPP) is the Panthers in Week 15, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Panthers’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS FOR THE WEEK.

They are not the rankings for the Seahawks, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the Panthers). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Seahawks, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Carson faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 15 (the PANTHERS). This is a great indicator for owners of Carson and it is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup rankings can shift through the week with line and O/U movements as well as injury news.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

  1. Need some advice to make it to the ship. I have to sit one. Who sits

    Robinson
    Cooper
    Diggs
    Montgomery

    Slayton

I’m leaning Slayton, but Miami secondary is making it a hard decision.

    1. i’d sit montgomery. it’s hard for me to buy into two bears at Lambeau.

  2. Led the league thanks to you guys with a 12-1 record. But now I am coming out of the Bye with a banged up team. Just lost Ridley and Marvin Jones, and have a banged up Henry at RB.

Fixed in my lineup are Michael Thomas, D Henry, and Fournette.

1/2 PPR- Can’t decide who to roll with for my open WR and Flex spot. My options are:
-Tate or Slayton (with Sterling Sheperd, Pascal, and James Washington available on wire)
    -David Johnson or Deandre Washington

I’m leaning on Slayton and David Johnson ( I feel like Cards finally go back to him). Jalen Richard worries me.

    Also Cousins over Minshew?

Thanks! And hoping I don’t get knocked out my first playoff week after crushing it all year.

    1. i’d go slayton, washington, and cousins. good luck

  3. PPR – start Sutton in a potential shoot out or AJ Brown with upside against the Texans?

    1. i’d go AJ. With Sutton you’re hoping for TDs.

  4. I traded late because I liked Emmanual Sanders’ late season prospects, but not enough to fire him up over OBJ last week.

Should I this week? Sanders or Beckham in a 3WR Standard.
My other starters are Michael Thomas and Courtland Sutton.

    1. i’d go sanders. beckham could have a setback and they have similar floors.

  5. RB Q — I need three and actually two since I plan to start Chubb. My other choices are Hunt, Bell, and D Washington and Freeman. Any word on status of Josh Jacobs? So what do you think my best two options are?

Also, Wentz or Mayfield- leaning towards Baker since I think game will be a shootout. Thanks

    1. bell, hunt and mayfield

      1. Is you conclusion to start Bell based on the fact that Josh Jacobs is likely to play this Sunday?

  6. Bhb Commissioner here…

Bigstick Nick te premium, superflex, dynasty, 17-9 (we get an extra win for pt total above median avg)

    1. Need deep W/T Flex
    Currently have eifert in.
Wrs I avbl to pick up- Isiah ford, david Moore, perriman, justin Watson, marcus Johnson, christian blake?

Keep in mind this is te premium. I have matt Ryan and russ Wilson as qbs so maybe that influences the decision.

    1. Forgot it is ppr

  7. For standard scoring, non PPR. Choose 2 of Montgomery, Laird, and AJ Brown. Leaning Laird and Brown, just not sure. I know you have Montgomery ranked higher, but I’ve had him all year and every time I’ve started him, he’s killed me. This wouldn’t even be a debate if Evans was hurt! Gotta love the playoffs!

    1. i can’t advocate for laird here, especially if parker and wilson get out of protocol.

  8. Post By John Hunsberger

Thoughts on starting Fitzpatrick over Allen at QB? Been streaming qb this season until I found josh Allen

    1. i don’t hate it. the matchup is a lot better. i’d wait and see who he has to throw to though.

  9. Thanks RW Nation for helping me get to the finals this year! One quick question for now but might have more if my starters are questionable come game time (D. Henry & Chark as my WR backup to Hopkins & DAdams).

I have both Lamar Jackson and Drew Brees (standard scoring, play 1QB). With Jackson playing tomorrow night and nursing his quad from Sunday’s game, I’m concerned the risk of aggravating it early on might cost me the championship and know Brees has a favorable match up at home, too. Thoughts on which to play? I’m projected to win by +10 points but Derrick’s injury status has me worried.

  10. if you’re worried, brees is a solid play. i’d go with jackson though.

Wasted Talent reg season 9-3 PPR

    I am going to start Kamara ( :-/ )
I have Montgomery or D. Freeman for my RB2

I need a flex A. Robinson or DJ Moore

    1. Post By smithsonje@gmail.com

Just pulled Laird off the scrap heap as well for a possible RB2 option

      1. as for Laird I have him initially ranked actually very close to Freeman, but 3 spots lower as a back end RB2, if you hate Devonta, it’s not egregious to play Laird this week esp in PPR. I’d play DJM over ARob but like both. Good luck.

        1. Post By smithsonje@gmail.com

          Thank you Professor

  12. I see you are working late for us tonight Trashman! I am sticking to the rankings on the Roster Watch website above all others . . . I need 2 of the 4 following players to start this week in a 1-point PPR: A.J. Brown, Michael Gallup, Tyler Lockett, and Kareem Hunt. Thoughts on that?

    1. see Trashman’s flex rankings on how Hunt mixes in cross-positionally, but as for the WRs I have them like this initially: Brown, Gallup, Lockett (just think SEA runs all day in great matchup with CAR and Lockett has been so up and down.) good luck.

      1. Thank you Alex!

  13. I’m having a tough choice with my TE’s.
I have penciled in Andrews, bench Howard, Engram with Olsen available on waivers.

    1. leave it like that unless Engram is ruled in, then I’d roll w/ him.

  14. First game of Championship round. I am playing a powerhouse and need highest ceilings to win. Projected score by ESPN is 142-129 right now.

My starting QB is Murray. (I could pick up Mayfield or Trubinsky off waivers)

I need two WR from the following.

    Boyd
    Kirk
    McLaurin
    D Samuel
    Slayton

I am considering Kirk for the stack but lean Samuel and Slayton for the matchups. What do you guys think?

    1. I would go Kirk and Samuel. You need the upside and the connection w/ Kyler/Kirk gives the double dip opportunity. It’s the battle of the OU QBs, I think Baker and Kyler will get up for it.

  15. Post By mchrist661@aol.com

In the semis again!! Standard .5 ppr. Flex position L Bell, D Washington or Fant. Thanks for the season hopefully one more week.

    1. If Jacobs is out, believe it or not I think I go Washington. Otherwise Bell. Good luck

  16. Chicks Dig Scars
Thanks guys for all your help this season. I have been an injury magnet.
    8 team .5 ppr
As an Evans, Penney, Parker, and Chark owner I had a bad week but still pulled out the win.
I also have L Jackson, Mahomes and Edelman 7 injured out of 9.
Only survivors were H Henry and Sutton. Go figure.
I picked up D. Washington and Higbee
If J Jacobs does not play I need one of D Washington. Lindsay or Mostert (on waivers)?
I also need 2 of Sutton, Lockett or Woods (on waivers).
Who would you drop if i pick up Woods or Mostert from waivers? Chark Parker Sutton Lockett Lindsay or Higbee?
Woods and Mostert will probably be gone from waivers later today,

    1. would go with Lindsay and I would want to pick up Woods.

  17. I have hoarded 3 Defenses through my 1st Rnd Bye. I have Baltimore vs NY Jets , New England @ Cinci, and Kansas City vs Denver. Who do I start of those 3?

Also I have Mark Ingram in right now as a start ahead of tonight’s TNF, but I could hold off and start Kenyan Drake or Miles Sanders. Any reason to feel safer about either of these 2 over Ingram?

    1. keep ingram in. flip a coin between BAL and NE. Good luck,

  18. Kyler Murray or Ryan Tannehill

    Need one of these 4:
    Tyler Lockett
    Christian Kirk
    James Washington
    Sterling Shepard

I get a 25 point bonus for 100 yds. receiving.

    Thanks!

    1. I have the same decision in my most important league and I’m currently leaning Tanny. If he busts we can mourn together. Wait for our consensus rankings to make the other choice, but if it were me, I’d go Kirk. I do have Kirk and Lockett back to back , tho.

  19. Post By scott4157575@yahoo.com

Would you suggest sitting Dak for Tannehill.

I also have OBJ and Ju Ju but i can pick up AJ Brown or Slayton. I need one of these four.

    Thanks for any guidance.

    1. I would start Tannehill this week. I have AJB and OBJ ranked back to back but I have OBJ just ahead. He has such an enticing matchup and it’s Odell Beckham regardless of other circumstances. At least that’s how I broke that tie, it’s up to you- a virtual coin flip. Maybe check out Trashman’s flex rankings too to see what he says.

  20. Need two in 1 ppr.

    R. Anderson
    H. Henry
    A. Hooper
    A. Miller
    N. Hines
    D. Washington

    1. Definitely DWash if no Jacobs and I think I’d lean Henry but that’s tough. Check TM’s flex rankings on that one as well and I’d also want to see the Vegas Props that come in on the Vegas Tool Saturday. tough one.

  21. PPR flex question. Freeman, woods, Hunt, metcalf, d Samuels?

    1. I’m assuming you need one and are talking Devonta Freeman? check Trashman’s flex rankings, it’s too trashy a Q for me and I’m not sure what you’re asking.

      1. Yeah just one out of those guys. Have Ekeler at RB and Hopkins/Edelman at WR.

  22. Post By jhaschke50@hotmail.com

    2QB 0.5 PPR, FLEX question:

Who would you start? Tyler Boyd or Jack Doyle?

I feel like I scraping the bottom of the barrel putting a lineup together. Luckily, I have Watson and Jackson at QB.

    Starting RB: D Washington
    WR/TE: Diggs, Waller, Kirk

Bench: Hyde, Scarbrough, Mattison, E Engram

    1. If Engram is active, I’d start him over both.

  23. Pick 3, 1 pt ppr
    Kirk, Gallup, Golladay, Slayton
    Thank you

    1. Golladay, Gallup, Kirk for me. Very close between Slayton and Kirk, I have them ranked only two spots apart — feel free to do what you want.

  24. Post By Polk High Panthers

Thanks for helping me get to the semifinals and 1 seed in my league.
    .5 ppr Mostert or Bell

    1. I don’t know why but I can’t trust Mostert to continue getting all the work. I have Bell ranked ahead even though I hate him. We could get word through the week about either’s usage that could change that tho.

  25. PPR – Nick Chubb or Mark Ingram?? I know the matchup tool likes chubb but hes splitting carries and has been big play reliant – what do yall think? I also have Lamar Jackson at QB if that makes a difference..

  26. PPR – can I trust Lockett in a good matchup or should i roll with Christian Kirk?

    1. My rankings go Kirk, Lockett, Slayton. I’m getting asked a lot of questions about these guys and I truly have them projected as virtually even. I have massive trouble trusting Lockett in a matchup where SEA can presumably run all over the Panthers given that SEA has totally ghosted with its Lockett usage at times this season. It’s tough but I hope that helps.

      1. Very helpful, thanks Alex. It’s a tough one – i think I’ll go Kirk b/c as long as he’s healthy I expect him to be involved in the short game at least. I’m not sure anyone can say the same for Lockett right now. I have Beasely as an option too, but I hate the matchup. Not sure how effective Josh Allen will be @ Pit

  27. If Winston is a no go, who do I play?

    Matt Ryan
    Lock
    Trubisky

    1. Is Tannehill available? Hell what about Minshew or Eli? I’d prefer all over those guys. You can do better.

      1. Minshew and Eli are available. Who you like better?

  28. Post By grant.m.coffey@gmail.com

Is Lamar Jackson reliable tonight? I have Brees on my bench.

    1. I’ll always rely on Lamar until he shows me I shouldn’t. Did make a lot of hay this year fading him, that’s for sure.

      1. Post By grant.m.coffey@gmail.com

With Evans hurt I’m choosing between Deebo and Slayton. Projected to win by 20 and I feel like Deebo is a safer play. What do you think?

  29. 12 team standard, Its looking like I’ll be steam rolling over my opponent, I have a 45 point lead going into round 2.
I own Godwin and Perriman is on waivers. Would he be a good pick up for the next round? If so who would you drop … Deebo Samuel or Diggs who I have riding the bench.

  30. Post By Colonel Jessup

Half point per completion, Dak or J. Winston? Thanks

  31. Need 3 of these 1 point ppr

    Gurley
    Gordon
    Eckler
    Elliott
