RosterWatch Week 15 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2021 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Bears WR Darnell Mooney, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Bears (Mooney’s team). You will see that the Bears’ opponent (OPP) is the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the VIKINGS’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the BEARS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the VIKINGS). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Bears, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means that Mooney faces our best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 15 (the Vikings). This is a great indicator for fantasy owners of Mooney, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

  1. Did not see Jakeem Grant on Week 15 Waiver wire sheet
    Where would you place him?

    1. Maybe around the middle or lower 40% of the 2nd tier

  2. I have JCrowder in PPR on bench
Should I pick up one of the the top 5 WR on Week 15 Waiver sheet to replace him?

    1. I think so- I wold prob also drop him for DPJ

  3. 10 team full PPR Playoff time.
    – Tua or Carr
    – Need a flex Henderson, Sony, Aiyuk, Dillon, Hunt or Thielen if they play
    – Second team Need a Flex: Higgins, Barkley, Metcalf, Julio.
    Thanks RW..

    1. YO B, need help with this one as well 🙂

    2. Think I would go Tua

I think it’s b/t Aiyuk and the Rams RBs

Think it’s prob gotta be Metcalf w/ Lockett out- I can also get behind Barkley and Higgins

  4. I got the first round bye , what’s a good defense to target for second round ?

    1. I’d check the waiver wire cheat sheet 🙂

  5. One more question TE
    Muth or Shultz..
    Thanks again RW..

    1. I think I’d go w/ Schultz. Two decent options, though

      1. Everett is now an option now that Lockett is out. Would you still go with Shultz.

        1. Yes I’d prob stick w/ Schultz

  6. Need 3/4. Standard league. Barkley, Michael Carter, rhamondre Stevenson, and d’onta foreman

    1. Barkley, Foreman, Rhamondre

  7. Team Name: La Flama Blanca, record 6-8. Wk15,1/2 ppr: Mike Williams, Dawson Knox or Rhamondre Stevenson?

    1. I think it’s Mike Williams

  8. Now that DHop is out. pickup AJ, Kirk or Rondale. I figure the de facto #1/2 combo is AJ and Ertz . Thanks.

    1. AJ

  9. Is DHOP an easy drop? Should we hold off on results of the 2nd opinion? My playoffs end in Week 17, and I am eyeballing picking up either Elijah Moore or Seattle Defense (for WK 16 and 17)

    1. I think so, although I’m personally a little maniacal about it and like to wait just to make sure there isn’t a swindle. Neither of those pickups sounds like emergencies if you have any reservations.

  10. In a full ppr, how do you rank Chuba, KHunt, Penny and Rhamondre going forward. I have a bye this week. Looking to drop for EMoore and maybe a Def for wk 16. Thanks

    1. Probably Penny, Chuba, Rhamondre. I wouldn’t plan on trusting Hunt the rest of season.

  11. Need some help..I have one rb spot and two flex spots I need to fill– .5ppr

    Leonard Fournette
James Robinson ( I was going to sit him but with Urban out is he an option?)
    Damien Harris
    Rashaad Penny
    Tyler Lockett
    Michael Pittman

    1. I think you have to play Fournette and Penny. Looks like Lockett has COVID. Don’t really like Pittman’s matchup. I’d probably plug Robinson in there too!!

  12. Mahomes or Herbert tonight?

    1. Flip a coin. I think the safe play is always Mahomes

  13. In PPR
    Renfro or JChase?

    1. Chase

  14. PPR
CEHelaire tonight or JRobinson on Sunday?

    1. I think it’s Clyde- but man that is a horrible decision to have to make. I can’t believe you have to bench one of those dudes! Double check to make sure there is nobody else you prefer to bench!

    2. Do I go with CEH tonight to avert COVID risk – in case JRobinson and team has to go on the COVID Protocol
(I also have JWilliams, S Michel and A Dillon on the bench)

      1. That actually sounds like a smart tie breaker. Take the sure thing. COVID is raging like wildfire, who know what will happen by Sunday

  15. Response to above question
    In PPR
My RB are: A Kamara E Mitchel l CEHelaire JRobinson JavWilliams SMichel ADillon
Pick 3 for me in PPR
    – pay any attention to NFL COVID problem and play CEH because he is going tonight?

    1. damn man that’s a stacked group. I don’t ever bench Kamara. I also think you might wanna play Dillon if no AJones, we also don’t know if Mitchell is going to play or if Henderson is going to play for Sony’s sake or Melvin for Javonte’s sake for that matter. Ask this question closer to game time but I think you’ll have be left with slightly better options than CEH.

  16. Looking for 2 of 3 of these players in a (2) Flex team. I have D. Mooney, AJ Dillion and M. Pittman Need 2. and at TE, i lost Hockenson so I need help on waivers. Do i pick up D. Njokou, G. Everett, Kmet or J. Deguara.

Also in another league in my Flex. I have H. Renfrow in but should i take him for D. Parker based on his good matchup and no Waddle or am i just overthinking this. Thanks

    1. For your 2nd question keep Renfrow in. He is a PPR monster with Derek Carr under center. For the first question it’s Darnell Mooney & Pittman for me. With a healthy Aaron Jones, can’t bank on the production for Dillon. Belichik will try to take Taylor out of the game tonight and could open things up for Pittman. If you’re already playing Mooney I would differentiate with Njoku.

  17. 2x back to back champion and last wildcard into this years playoffs:
    QB: Mahomes
    RB: A. Gibson
    RB: D. Freeman
    WR: Godwin, Lamb, Aiyuk
    TE: Kittle
    K: J. Tucker
    D/ST: Green Bay

    Bench: D. Foreman vs Pittsburg
    R Penny vs the Rams

Match up tool rates a Foreman vs Pittsburg a nice 6 match up but I’m conflicted. Need to beat the #3 seed to make it to the money round in my league….what would you do? Leave my starters or chance it with Foreman?

    Thanks for your feedback
