RWi RosterWatch Week 16 Matchup Tool

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch.alex byline It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested, most popular tool, the instructions couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

matchup 16
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First look at the Eagles’ matchup for the week, and see what the number is inside the “vs. WRs” cell for THE EAGLES’ OPPONENT.

(Maclin is a WR, and you would like to know his opponent’s rank vs. that position.)

As you will see, the Eagles are playing the Redskins, who have a big, blue ‘No. 1’ in their “vs. WRs” cell. This is a great indicator for owners of Jeremy Maclin or anyone thinking about utilizing him in their daily-league lineups.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start, sit or pick up off the waiver wire for matchup or daily-league spot-plays.

“1″ is the best matchup, “32″ is the worst.

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also weighted averages of separate individual player scouting grades for members of the 2014 unit that will be defending, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question in Week 16.

Please ask any questions in the comments section below, and good luck in the fantasy playoffs. This will be the final Matchup Tool of the 2014 season, thanks for your support this year, and keep up with us through the draft process for all of your dynasty action and your NFL draft fixes.

  1. Looking at an rb2. Blount, Andre Williams, Garhart. I like the matchup against the titans but dont trust Garhart very much. Semi finals this week and need some points.

    1. This is a one point ppr.

    2. Williams is the play here. Nice matchup, and Jennings hasn’t been a factor.

  2. Alex smith, tannehill, or Teddy? RB #2 PPR Herron, Stewart, or Pierre Thomas?

    1. Tannehill, Thomas if it’s a full 1 pt ppr. Otherwise, if Cam goes I’d use Stewart, if not, then Herron.

  3. Hey guys. I can’t give enough credit to you guys for getting me to week 16. Thanks so much. Need some help with questionable designations. Need a WR, TE and Flex. Watkins, Landry, Edelman, donnell, ertz. Thanks guys

    1. Well now I need 2 WRs since Julio looks in trouble

    2. the odd man out here is Donnell.

      1. Thanks. If Julio plays, who do you sit? Edelman, Landry or Watkins?

        1. It sounds crazy, but I still might sit Julio. I fear he may be used primarily in a decoy role if he plays, like Megatron earlier in the year.

  4. Pick 2: Full Point PPR
    Fred Jackson
    Alshon Jeffrey
    E.Sanders

    1. I like F Jax in what is the second best matchup for rbs. He’ll also catch passes.

  5. Hey guys. Looked over the chart with my question I’m about to ask. Just need to know if I’m getting to cute or not with this pick. I HAD Cutler, but with him being benched I could either start Tannehill vs. Vikings, or Orton vs. Raiders. Chart leans Orton w/ how the Raiders Def is. And it seems the Viking Def is starting to gain some momentum even tho they lost to the Lions.

So, who would you start in this game. Orton or Tannehill.

Thanks guys for a wonderful year. And have a great holiday.

    1. Tannehill has been too consistent, even in tough matchups. I like him.

  6. Reed or cook? .5 PPR

    1. Or Eric Ebron against the bears soft d?

  7. I have Jones, Sanders, and Douglas. If Jones is active, should I start him over Sanders and Douglas? Or is he going to be used as a decoy?

If Jones is inactive, should I start Sanders or Douglas. I know its a juicy match up for Atlanta receivers. Thanks in advance! You guys have helped me get here!

    1. If Jones is active you have to start him. If not, I go with Douglas.

  8. Well he’s active so I’m rolling with him! Thanks.

  9. With Julio and TY Hilton giving it a go today, would you go with Harry Douglas over Donte Moncrief in a .5PPR Flex spot?
