RosterWatch Week 16 Waiver Wire: WRs
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com

Quite an interesting cast of characters we’ve ended up with, here in the final week of the fantasy season. We’d feel confident rolling any of these guys out to the championship party, though. Cheers to one final week of scouring the wide receiver waiver wire!

Andre Holmes, WR Oakland Raiders
We’ve been telling you for weeks, if you couldn’t grab Rod Streater, then go grab his even less heralded teammate Andre Holmes. As it is, he is performing at an identical, arguably better rate over the last month. Holmes passes the eyeball test as a big athletic playmaker. He’s an alum from Hillsdale College, where Raiders stud LT Jared Veldheer is also from. The Raiders seem to have an “in” on some good talent out of that program. Opposing college coaches, have told us directly that Holmes is the “real deal”. We’d roll him out this week in one of the few warm weather games at San Diego, in a heartbeat. It’s a dream matchup- expect 7-14 points.

Andre Caldwell, WR Denver Broncos
When all else fails, we always say one of the safest things you can do is “buy stock in Peyton Manning”. It looks like another lost week for Wes Welker owners. Meaning, coming off of an 18 point performance last week, Andre Caldwell is set for another full slate of work. The Texans aren’t the easiest pass defense, but that’s difficult to extrapolate out the the Broncos WR3- when you have to expect most of Houston’s attention will be on Demaryius, Decker, and JT. We also like the game in the dome for Peyton’s squirt gun, and this is still a meaningful game for the Broncos. Caldwell is a relatively safe move with some upside.

Nate Washington, WR Tennessee Titans
Also, from the “safe with upside” department- we love ending the year with Nasty Nate on our list. Think of him as a nasty blue Santa Claus who promises to deliver at least four fantasy points- but might bring double digits down the chimney- if you’ve been a good owner.

Marvin Jones, WR Cincinnati Bengals
As we prepare for our scouting trip to the 2014 Senior Bowl- it reminds us that two years ago in Mobile, AL- we guaranteed you that Marvin Jones would be a good WR3 in the NFL. He’s arrived, and honestly opposite a stud like AJ Green, Jones has shown he may be capable of being a good WR2 in the NFL. Of course, much of that will depend on Andy Dalton’s development- which we are skeptical about at times. For now, we love Starvin’ Marvin this week at home against a very leaky Vikings pass defense- which has been a little trickier than you might thing against WR1s, but is a sieve against WR2s and WR3s. Get Jones in your lineup, and feel good about it.

Doug Baldwin, WR Seattle Seahawks
A waiver wire staple here at RosterWatch in 2013. It’s been a solid year for Baldwin. He’s basically scored 13 fantasy points, four out of the last six weeks. We don’t love the matchup against a very tough Cardinals defense, but Russel Wilson is throwing to somebody- and at least the game is at home. We’d rather roll the dice on the guy that won’t be covered by Patrick Peterson- and that’s Doug Baldwin.

Jerricho Cotchery, WR Pittsburgh Steeler
It’s fitting he makes the final report of the year. He’s been a waiver wire super star this season. Yes, he is touchdown dependent- but Big Ben loves him as his only big target in the redzone. We like him in an important Week 16 matchup against the Packers tundra of a pass defense.

Jacoby Jones, WR Baltimore Ravens

He’s averaging 7 PPG over his last five games. It seems like there could be something sneaky about playing Jacoby at home against New England’s middle of the road pass defense, in a critical AFC tilt. You know he won’t draw the Pats top corner, Aqib Talib- and Jones always has that big play potential. If you’re in a league that scores special teams production- Jones also gets a boost there. His rookie teammate, Marlon Brown, may also still be worth a look if you are in ultra-desperation mode. Brown always has a decent chance at some redzone targets and a touchdown.

DeAndre Hopkins, WR Houston Texans
He’s been basically a 5-7 point guy for sometime now. Hopkins should do at least that, this week in a nice matchup at home against the Broncos. You know the Texans are going to have to score. It could lead to some increased opportunities for the rookie. He’s always a redzone threat.
