RosterWatch Week 3 Matchup Tool Now Available
Welcome back.
This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.
It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.
DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.
The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2021 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.
…
INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.
Let’s say you own Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.
First, look down the list and find the Ravens (Jackson’s team). You will see that the Ravens’ opponent (OPP) is the Lions in Week 3, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”
These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Lions’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.
They are not the rankings for the RAVENS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the LIONS). In the “OPP vs. QB” cell for the Ravens, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Jackson faces our best possible matchup for opposing QBs in Week 3 (the Lions). This is a great indicator for owners of Jackson, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.
Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.
With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift.
“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

TE question here, PPR format
Currently have Gerald Everett, is he droppable for either of the Top 2 on the WWCS ROS? Matchup tool tells me who I should grab for the week, but I am considering dropping Everett for the top TE on this weeks cheat sheet. Would you all agree with this move? Appreciate it
Yes we would- especially for Jared Cook if possible
Hello RosterWatch Nation.
12 team, .5 ppr, 6 player bench league.
I have Jalen Hurts at QB with Trey Lance on my bench as a stash.
Justin Fields was dropped and is on the WW..
Should I drop Lance and pick up Fields? Do you have a preference on QB?
Thanks
That’s probably the right move-
Preference is Lance, but he’s not starting yet. Fields is, and could have a similar effect
Drop Washington D to p/u either Steelers, Cardinals or Panthers. in need of a win this week, 0 – 2.
I’d pick up CAR vs. Davis Mills
Season long standard league, was just offered elijah mitchell for diontae johnson. Guy offering Mitchell also has Zeke, Carson, Gibson, Gaskin and Mike Davis. Counter?
10 team PPR
Should I drop AJ Dillon or Jakobi Myers for Tim Patrick?
Still have Tyreek, AJ Brown, Lockett, Robby Anderson.
0.5 PPR – 12 team – 0-2:
QBs: Mahomes, Fields
RBs: Kamara, Sanders
WRs: Jefferson, Sutton, Marquise, OBJ, Pittman, Rondale
TE: Andrews
What’s up RW Nation! So I’m “stacked” at WR and clearly thin at RB. Which RBs should I be targeting with my plethora of receivers? Any trade examples?
Thanks again!
My team in 12 team standard League: QB’s Murray, Fields RB’s Zeke, Jacobs, Carson, Javonte Williams. WR’s McLauren, ARob, J Chase, Diontae Johnson, Aiyuk TE Tonyan. Would you drop anyone to pickup Michel?
New to the nation (though I’ve been listening in Sirius for a few years) and just had a basic question- am I following the matchup tool or the rankings? For instance in 1 league im streaming QB and I see Darnold has the #1 matchup, but DJones Kirk and teddy are ranked higher and are available. Who am I rolling with?
Wait- might have misread it. Looks like Djones has the best matchup
Hey Guys,
Question: I am holding E Moore at the end of my bench as WR6 – is he droppable for B Aiyuk, who is on the WW this Saturday?
Thank you!
Hey Gents,
Trade offer: my Pollard, J’Chase, Mooney for his CEH, Golladay, Corey Davis??
I have Kamara, Gibson, D Harris already. Golladay and Davis would add to McLaurin, Cooper, Boyd and Pittman.
Thanks Guys!!
I’m in a peculiar spot. I have Josh Allen and Kirk Cousins. QBs score 1 point per completion, but also lose 1/2 point for incompletions. I also kept Allen in the 10th round, so it’s not like I used a lot of draft capital on him.
Am I bananas for thinking I should start Cousins against the Seahawks this week?
Thanks!
PPR I need a RB2 decision Mike Davis or James Robinson. I’m leaning towards Davis.
Thanks
