RosterWatch Week 3 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex byline

Welcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is not an all-encompassing metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only traditional “fantasy points against” metrics (schedule-adjusted after 4 weeks of play), but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2025 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow/pace, sportsbook indicators, volume of total projected snaps and much, much, more.

rosterwatch-pro-testimonials

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you roster Cowboys WR Ceedee Lamb and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Cowboys (Lamb’s team). You will see that the Cowboys’ opponent (OPP) is the Chicago Bears in Week 3, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the BEARS’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the COWBOYS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the THE BEARS). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Cowboys, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means that Lamb faces our best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 3 (the Bears). This is a great indicator for fantasy managers of Lamb and also George Pickens. It is also a positive one for those thinking of rostering them in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to break ties with closely ranked players regarding who to start and who to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: Vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift, or as injuries to key defensive personnel occur.

1 is the best (easiest) matchup, 32 is the worst (toughest).

Hey Alex, up above you mentioned I should look at packaging Etienne + Shakir for Harvey + 2026 3rd. I’ve got two offers on the table and wanted your thoughts:

Which deal makes more sense, or should I hold off? Or make a counter?

          2. man…that is a lot of writing you crank out…..

    2. You can feel fine to drop Wilson, KLS, Elijah Moore and Jaleel McClaughlin

I don’t see any aggressive bid target FAs

I might see if I can package up a sell-high Etienne with someone like Khalil Shakir to get to a buy-low-ish rookie like Harvey or Judkins plus a 2026 3rd or so.

      1. 12 team ppr deep benches 7 keeper keague. Should I drop Jerome Ford for J. McNichols? I also have C. Rodriguez.

        1. Post By Cody Carpentier

No – McNichols is an injury or two away from a real role and they will sign Fournette at that point

  2. Trade – London and Sutton for Javonte Williams and q Johnston — I have Gibbs Jacobs and cook and Montgomery and judkins on bench

    1. Unless you are getting London and Sutton, No.

If you are giving up Javonte and QJ to get those guys, yes.

  3. Got offered Chase for JTaylor … Other Rbs are Judkins, Monty and Treveyon

    Do I make this deal?

    WR- Jefferson, Olave, Hunter, Juju

    1. Post By Cody Carpentier

      I prefer Taylor

Should I trade Drake London for Javonte Williams and Stefon Diggs

    1. Other RBs are Bijan and Judkins
WR are Tyreek Hill, Golden , Rashee rice, Keon Coleman, Jameson Williams, Wendale Robinson

      1. Post By Cody Carpentier

No, unless your RB2 is JK Dobbins or worse

  7. Trade offer 12 team 0.5 ppr — do you give WR M Golden + RB T Benson to get WR Olave + RB D Sampson?

They are all WR and RB 4s on my squad.

    1. Post By Cody Carpentier

No – keep MG and Benson

  8. Got offered Brian Thomas Jr in exchange for Javonte Williams and Hollywood Brown. Light on WR. Seems like a total rosterwatch move to do but not sure if Brian Thomas hates his life or not. What do you guys think?

    1. @trashman I did it

    2. Post By Cody Carpentier

oh my gosh!!! Yes 1000x yes

  9. Is this trade offer worth it?

My R. Pearsall for his N. Chubb

I’m fairly tink/weak at RB and can use help there. But is N. Chubb worth it at this point?

  10. would you drop Pitts to pick up Corum? Have Kelce

RB’s are Saquaon, javonte, Monty, Sampson, Henderson

    1. Post By Cody Carpentier

Would rather trade Pitts – he is a TE12 with a juicy matchup – also not confident that is entirly Corums job if Kyren goes down

  11. Is it time to drop mark andrews?

    1. Post By Cody Carpentier

No sir – hold the line

      He started 2024…. 3.4, 9.1, 0.0, 0.0, 9.5…… 15.6, 20.1, 14.6

He will make you punch air if you cut him

  12. 12 team ppr deep benches 7 keeper keague. Should I drop Jerome Ford for J. McNichols? I also have C. Rodriguez.

  13. 12 Team Superflex league. I have Najee Harris, but can probably get Blake Corum for $0 FAB. I already have Josh Jacobs, Travis Etienne and Kenneth Walker. Would this be an upgrade for my bench?

    1. Wow. That would give me too many week 8 byes, and I have to start 2 RB’s. I also have Pacheco for the week 8 Bye. I guess that means either keep Harris just for the bye, or take a shot on Corum moving up, or Pacheco getting back to normal.

    2. Post By Cody Carpentier

Are you thinking about cutting Naj? I would not

      1. Perfect. Thats what I needed to know. Thanks

  14. What’s up RW, who would you guys drop to pick up a kicker? Full PPR

      1. Hate to be greedy, I forgot to mention I have Sam Laporta as well. Both he and Brock have favorable matchups.

Which deal makes more sense, or should I hold off? Or make a counter?

    1. Oh actually he just offered me this as well:

      Give: Etienne, Shakir, Kendre Miller
Get: RJ Harvey, Brandon Aiyuk, 2027 3rd

    2. Is there any way you could float similar deals to the Quinshon Judkins owner?

      1. I already tried getting Judkins but the guy isn’t selling him. he said he’s not going to sell his young pieces

        1. I have run the trade through 2 trade analyzers and it has you winning in that one pretty clearly, but it is a big trade, so it is up to you. 2027 looks to be an elite year for dynasty rookie drafts where your 3 could be packaged with your 1 to move up in the first for a Jeremiah Smith or Ryan Williams type of asset. How much faith do you have in JK Dobbins to continue to be the RB1 for DEN over a guy Sean Payton took in RD2? You are betting on the come with Harvey here and ETN has been a really valuable piece this year and JAX traded away Bigsby. I’ll say this: I’m not going out of my way to get this trade done in one of my leagues, but if it was offered to me and you put a gun to my head and asked me which side I wanted, I would take Harvey, Aiyuk, 2027 3rd. It is not a win-now move, though.

          1. appreciate you Alex! thanks so much for the advice and thoughtful response… I’m def in win now and this week I need Etienne (especially with Egbuka limited) so I’m thinking I’ll hold off for now?!

  18. I’m down Purdy and JJ. For this week only – Penix over Stafford? Already rolling w/ London as my WR2 but also need some upside. Feel like Rams/Eagles could be a 20-13 situation…

    1. Post By Cody Carpentier

We have them back to back this week – Stafford by a touch!

  19. Looking for some advice in a half point PPR need two WRs out of these 5…
    Tyreek
    Hollywood
    DJ Moore
    Keon Coleman
    Ayomanor

    1. Post By Cody Carpentier

      Hill than Brown than DJ

      Best of Luck

  20. Can you pick three for me ? London, Sutton McLaren McMillan j williams Jennings
    Thanks

    1. Post By Cody Carpentier

      London, McMillan and McLaurin

      Best of Luck!

  21. One last question Cody, how do you feel about the following trade. Full PPR My Egbuka and Charb for A Jeanty.
    Thanks

    1. Not Cody. and I would have to see the rest of your roster, but I’m a giant fan of buying low on Jeanty right now. Just think if you would have asked this question two weeks ago, we’d all say it is a slam dunk. It is not without risk, but Godwin will be back at some point, and who knows how that will shake out. I would personally do that deal, but, again, it is up to your risk tolerance.

  22. I understand and here is the rest of my lineup. I just don’t think I will ever play him, and if I did. I would be benching Ladd..
Caleb, Fields, Lamb, Nabers, Ladd, Bucky, ETN, T Warren, Algier, Boutte, Harvey, Pacheco and Aaron Jones.
    Thanks RW..

  23. Ohhh and my risk tolerance is through the roof. If you’re scared go home 🙂

  24. Not having much faith in either Sutton, or D Smith.
I have Bowers starting, also scary.

Bowers is must start. I have J Johnson as well. Maybe start both?

So Sutton, D Smith, and J Johnson,
Jennings , Downs, Henderson and Pacheco on the bench.

    10 team, ppr
    Need two
    Thank you
    Ed

Multiple leagues with matchups against fam and friends who are bragging ( .5 ppr no flex QB 2RB 3WR 1TE)

QB – Dak (better rank and he is the top on the ultimate matchup) or Daniel Jones – leaning Dak but would love to beat my cousin in our matchup this week by using Daniel Jones to win when she is a Colts fan

RB – I am starting J Taylor so 2nd RB T Henderson, Charbonnet, or Pachecho.
    – Playing Bijan – Burrow injury concern playing C Brown or replace with Pollard, Etienne, or T Henderson
    – Playing Bijan – Burrow injury concern playing C Brown or replace with Etienne or Judkins

WR – Playing AR St Brown & G Wilson. SO 3rd Wr – Egbuka (if he plays), McConkey, or DeVonta Smith.
    – If Egbuka plays do I replace any of these starters – McMillan, McConkey, C Sutton
    – McMillan, Kupp, Egbuka (if he plays) who do I replace Egbuka with Ayomanor or Boutte

TE – normally wouldn’t ask but anything to worry about playing Bowers with a backup like Fannin

    Thanks, Deadly Barrister.
