RosterWatch Week 4 Matchup Tool
Welcome back.
This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.
It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.
DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.
The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2018 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.
…
INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.
Let’s say you own Giants WR Odell Beckham, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.
First, look down the list and find the Giants (Beckham’s team). You will see that the Giants’ opponent (OPP) is the Saints in Week 4, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”
These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Saints’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.
AGAIN – They are not the rankings for the Giants, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the Saints). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Giants, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means OBJ faces our best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 4 (the Saints). This is a great indicator for owners of Beckham — and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.
Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.
With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.
“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).
COLOR-CODES
(you like blue matchups best)
BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

Need some TE help in a half point ppr league. Gonna be without Engram for a bit and the best available are Burton, Howard, and Ebron. Normally any of those guys would be fine, but I will be using ARob, Evans, and Kerryon this week. Would you refrain from double dipping on a team, or roll with one of those 3? If push comes to shove, I could use Lindsay in place of Kerryon.
No, just play the best guys don’t get too caught up in that, it’s mostly a misnomer. I’d consider locking up that TB offense while FitMagic is hot!
Hm, ok, so you would go Howard over Burton? I was leaning Burton, lol.
Trade question: A league mate wants to trade me Gronk, Robby Anderson and Packers D/St for my David Njoku, Emmanuel Sanders and Cooper Kupp (I’m stacked at wr and these are bench wrs). What do you think of this deal?
0.5 ppr by the way
Obv the deal is mainly for Gronk, and GB def for this wk. It’s a little rich. In theory I’d like to see Njoku w/ Mayfield for another week or so. That said, if your roster is stacked and you like Gronk- it’s a reasonable move and the premium you have to pay sometimes to net the big fish.
If I didn’t absolutely need GB defense this wk, I’d attempt to re-work the deal a bit
I picked up Vance McDonald on waiver wire last night. I like him. I look forward to him being my TE1. Based on your podcast I am considering dropping Kelvin Benjamin and picking up Dallas Goddard to have on my bench in the event that he does break out. Annually, I stream my tight ends position. So carring two tight ends is scary to me or uncharted territory. What do you think about this idea?
Half point PPR my receivers are Sanders juju , cooper, Calloway, John Brown and Benjamin.
We think that’s just fine!
I’m in a 10 tm PPR league and the waiver wire is VERY deep. I currently own the following WRs: R Cobb & M Goodwin. Would you drop either of these two for any of the following: C Davis, K Stills or S Shepard? Also own Crowell and Jamaal Williams, Corey Clement and Ekeler are all available. Thanks for the help!
Maybe Davis for Goodwin, but it is far from clear. I’d be tempted to see a few weeks of Goodwin and Beathard first
sorry, posted in the other thread but……
im a Conner owner
is bell still worth going after?
the guy who owns him needs RB help. I have L miller, K Johnson, and ekeler to trade to him for bell. should i offer any of these guys?
B powell is out on Waivers too.
also, trade josh gordon for mark ingram?
Close call on Gordon vs Ingram- probably so unless you are thin at WR.
I’d use Ekeler and Miller to pursue Bell, and I’d pick up Powell.
thank you!
In a 0.5ppr are you dropping MillerTime for Kirk?
Was afraid my membership could be canceled for even suggesting dropping Miller…haha
Close call, maybe. Kirk is higher on the sheet. Would have loved to have seen Miller play it out last wk, as he was heating up. That said, it was a setback. I’d prob grab Kirk. Love them both.
Prob worth the gamble on Rosen over Trubisky
12 team PPR I have fitz magic at qb. I was offer Watson and Cohen for Lamar Miller. My Rbs are Fournett, Miller, Mixon, Crowell, and Chub. should I do the trade?
I’d probably do it
Looking to upgrade my WR position, .5 ppr
What kind of WR should I be targeting with a AP/Agholor, or AP/Watkins package?
The top of the top. I’d go after Odell, Keenan, and Julio
Team name Goat, 2-1.
12 team ppr league
Trade Mixon and either MWilliams or Kupp for Beckham?
Rbs would be Zeke, Kerryon, DLewis & Breida.
Wrs would be Beckham, Evans, Juju, Algholor, & whoever I keep M.Williams or Kupp.
Do the deal? Who would you keep Williams or Kupp? Also have Goff.
i would probably stay put, unless you can only play 2 rbs a week.
He’ll throw in amari cooper, change anything for you?
Hey guys-
gotta put s. michel or c. carson in my rb2 slot. have michel in now but the matchup tool gives seattle a 1 this week in rb and carson did get a ton of carries last week.
Would you deal Keenan and Carl Hyde for Hopkins? Thanks!
I have diggs and hill as well as dj and Mel Gordon.
Was just offered k. Allen for A. Collins. 12 team Standard league, my other backs are Gurley, Howard, Ingram, and J. Williams. Hurting for receiver, what do you think?? Thanks
Morning guys.
Byron, trade proposal: 1pt ppr
I give Chris Thompson and E Sanders and get R Woods and Royce Freeman? Here is my roster.
Fitzpatrick
Fournette
Hyde
Mixon
D Lewis
Chris Thompson
Julio Jones
TY Hilton
E Sanders
K Cole
A Calloway
OJ Howard
Thoughts??
Goff or Russell Wilson this week ( 6pts per td)
Thoughts on my Conner for his Keenan Allen or Mike Evans? My RBs: Barkley, Gordon, Conner, Mixon, Lindsay, and Michel. My WRs JuJu, Cooks, Sanders, Jones Jr. His RBs Dion Lewis (thats it… he is the Bell and Burkhead owner). If he pushes back, would me adding my Jones Jr. make the trade still good? If not, if me requiring he include Cam (my QB is Dalton) make it worth pursuing?
Who wins this trade? Nelson algholar and Jordan Wilkins for Zach Ertz?
