RosterWatch Week 5 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex bylineWelcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2021 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Jaguars WR Marvin Jones, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Jaguars (Jones’ team). You will see that the Jags’ opponent (OPP) is the Titans in Week 5, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Titans’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the JAGS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the TITANS). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Jaguars, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Jones (and teammate Laviska Shenault) face our best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week t (the Titans). This is a great indicator for owners of Jones and Shenault, and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering them in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

  1. Need Input,

    Full point ppr.

    1) Higbee or Knox this week? And then which one rest of season (as of now). Will trade the other one.

    2) Need 1 for flex: The other te above, Higgins if active, Perine, Crowder, or Latavius Murray.

    Thanks

Trashman said Knox in the other thread. Probably Perine or Latavius

      1. Thank you Byron

  2. Evening gentlemen, need one RB from D Harris, D Williams (Chi), D Henderson, A Gibson, J Williams (Den), and E Mitchell (caught my league napping ands was able to pick up Henderson and D Williams on waivers today). Am leaning towards either Harris or Henderson based on match up. Thanks in advance.

Man I would probably lean Williams vs LV or Harris vs HOU. Very difficult to ever sit Gibson but this is one of the nastier matchups. You have an embarrassment of riches . I think this is my ranking- 1. Williams 2. Gibson 3. Harris

  3. Can you upload lineups to draftkings from your dfs lineup generator?

      Not currently

Trey Lance or Darnold? Sam has the better matchup but you have Tey ranked higher

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

I think Darnold is the safe play. Arizona defense has been kind of difficult.

asked late on another thread, so if you answer there feel free to ignore this one

Have a ROS question at QB (16 teamer)
Who would you rather have ROS: Mayfield, Goff, Heinicke, Wentz.

I currently have Mayfield but thinking of dropping him and going Heinicke

    Thank You

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

I would look at the schedules- but I def lean either Mayfield or Heinicke

  6. Thanks Byron, appreciate the help/

1 pt ppr J Crowder or T Patrick. I know Patrick ranked higher but looking at the match up tool Crowder has the better match up

If my flex options are Pittman, Mooney, Julio Jones would you play Collins over one of them with Carson out?

  9. Lost R. Wilson this week to injury. Rest of team is: D Henry, D Harris(NE), J Chase, D. Metcalf, A Cooper, K Hunt, M Saders, R Woods, D Waller. Streaming Kickers and Defense. 1/2 pt PPR 10 team. Trade offer is Waller for A. Robinson and J. Hurts or D. Henry for Robinson, Hurts and Pitts, and CEH. I picked up K Cousins (should have waited till later in the week) of waivers. Lance, Fields, Burrow, D Jones, all usually available on waivers. Make the trade or stream QBs till Wilson heals?
