RosterWatch Week 5 Matchup Tool Now Available
Welcome back.
This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.
It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.
DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.
The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only traditional “fantasy points against” metrics (schedule-adjusted after 3 weeks of play), but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2022 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow/pace, sportsbook indicators, volume of total projected snaps and much, much, more.
…
INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.
Let’s say you roster Jaguars RB James Robinson, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.
First, look down the list and find the Jaguars (Robinson’s team). You will see that the Jaguars’ opponent (OPP) is the Houston Texans in Week 5, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”
These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the TEXANS’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.
They are not the rankings for the JAGUARS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the TEXANS). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Jaguars, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means that Robinson faces our best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 5 (the Texans). This is a great indicator for fantasy managers of Robinson as well as his backfield-mate Travis Etienne, and is a positive sign for those thinking of rostering them in DFS contests.
Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.
With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: Vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift, or as injuries to key defensive personnel occur.
1 is the best (easiest) matchup, 32 is the worst (toughest).
COLOR-CODES

LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups

It feels really close, but would you rather start Melvin Gordon or JK dobbins in PPR?
Think you go dobbins until you see how Denver situation develops.
Dobbins is the play here. He is the unquestioned workhorse right now.
Good afternoon. Trade offer. PPR. Get Kamara for Dobbins and Pacheco. Other RBs are Swift, Herbert, and Hunt. Thanks.
Take Kamara!
Dobbins side is the play. Kamara not in the circle of fantasy trust right now
Full PPR
Who wins this trade Najee and Rashad White for Swift.
Other RB’s M Sanders, Barkley, Hines, Wilson, Mitchel
Thanks.
IF swifts returns after the buy I’d rather have him over Najee but it’s up to your tolerance trading for a hurt player is not ideal.
I made the trade cross your fingers for me 🙂
I like the 2 RBs over Swift, but it is a fair trade
.5 PPR
Pick 2
Sutton vs Indy
Hollywood vs PHI
Lenny vs ATL
Hollywood and Lenny
Alex, Byron or Trashman –
12 team PPR; (2-2)
[1] QB: Murray
[2] RB: D. Cook, Mixon (Akers, Dam. Williams)
[2] WR: Higgins, Hollywood Brown (C. Samuel, London, C. Davis, R. Moore, Gage)
[1] TE: Kittle (Everett)
[2] W/R/T: J. Robinson, Olave
Bench total: (7)
Been in talks with this 0-4 team below since last week. Asked on Twitter and you guys advised offering JRob and Hollywood for Swift but he didn’t bite. He said he’ll do Swift for my JRob and Olave? What do the experts say I do here?
Accept or counter with what? I feel like I have a lot of great depth above that can be consolidated here… dying for the tradecast but more importantly I hope Byron is okay!
Other team:
[1] QB: Brady (Tua)
[2] RB: Kamara, Swift (Carter, Walker)
[2] WR: Metcalf, Jeudy (Palmer, Bateman, S. Moore, Reynolds)
[1] TE: Tonyan
[2] W/R/T: Godwin, D. Smith
Bench total: (7)
I’m sure the boys will weigh in but in the meantime, I would not trade those assets for Swift. You have 2 heathy every week starter. I’m sure Swift will be fine, but you already have great assets. Not sure how much of an upgrade you are getting for the price you have to pay. Good luck
12 Team Keeper (1qb, 2rb, 2wr, 2w/r/T)
QB: Carr
RB: Mixon, Henry, Dobbins, Boone, R White, Huntley
WR: Hill, London, Lamb, Olave, Cooks, Toney
TE: Conklin
Would you trade for Barkley? He offered Barkley and R.Anderson for Lamb and Dobbins (he lost Javonte)
His team
Qb: Herbert, Goff
Rb: Barkley, Dillon, Pollard, Stevenson
Wr: diontae Johnson, aiyuk, Hopkins, charm, Anderson, agholor
Te: freiermuth
Dobbins usage (even in the passing game was very interesting last week. You are paying full price to get Barkley. We wont tell you no, but its a heavy price.
Wilson or Carr..
Thanks RW..
Wilson showed enough last week to believe they will get it going. Carr has the pinball matchup. We love Wilson, but this week Carr might be the play vs KC
In a .5 Ppr we can only roster 10 total RB’s and WR’s no IR. I have Kamara, James Robinson, Josh Jacobs, R White, E Mitchell. Would you drop Mitchell for Mostert.?
Wr’s are Chase,Adam’s, Cooper, Lazard, G Wilson. If you think I should drop one of them
In this format no reason to hold Mitchel you can pick him up later if you need to. Rubber stamp on dropping him, even if Mostert doesn’t work out.
Matt Ryan or I can drop him for Bridgewater, Z Wilson, Dalton, Brissett, Mayfield, or Pickett. I have Tua as starter but not sure when he’ll play again.
I’d go Teddy this week
Also 6pts per TD
Good morning. PPR. Kamara or Swift ROS?
Thanks
I want to say Swift, just because he’s younger and the offense seems better. Kamara seems a bit injury riddled
Good morning
Have a flex Q today — Plan to start – Chase, Lambe and Sutton along with Cook and J WIlliams
choices for Flex – D Harris, M Gordon, D SIngletary, DK metcalf and Ayiuk
Leaning towards Damien – What do you think? thanks
I might lean Gordon this week, before Murray is activated
Would you pick up Hines or Mostert .5 ppr
Hines, if you’re going to play him this week. Otherwise, Mostert
Ok to unload Zeke for the top waiver cheat sheet rb’s?
