RosterWatch Week 6 Matchup Tool
Welcome back.
This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.
It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.
DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.
The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2018 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.
…
INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.
Let’s say you own Falcons WR Calvin Ridley, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.
First, look down the list and find the Falcons (Ridley’s team). You will see that the Falcons’ opponent (OPP) is the Bucs in Week 6, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”
These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Bucs’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.
AGAIN – They are not the rankings for the Falcons, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the Bucs). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Falcons, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Ridley faces our best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 6 (the Bucs). This is a great indicator for owners of Ridley, Julio Jones, Mohammed Sanu and other WRs for the Falcons — and is a positive one for those thinking of rostering any of them in DFS contests.
Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.
With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.
“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).
COLOR-CODES
(you like blue matchups best)
BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

Got a number of challenging matchups this week… but powering through. I have two possible plays Thursday night so can’t rely solely on the Vegas tool this week. Help choosing 2 RBs out of these (standard): Barkley vs PHI, Conner vs CIN, Mix on vs PIT, Michel vs KC? Also, need 1 WR out of these (PPR): Shepard vs PHI or Lockett vs OAK or Sanu vs TB? Ready to pop and sizzzzle!
i’d go barkley and conner, then shepard
Conner for sure and then I’d say Michel/Barkley are a 2a/2b situation. There’s a very real possibility that any of those four could pop. Agree that Shepard is the WR to go with.
Would you do Dalvin Cook and a 19 1st for CMC?
if you can make do without cook for the time being, yes
Requesting some lineup advice – need to pick 2 out of these 3 options:
– Sammy Watkins
– Nyheim Hines
– Antonio Callaway (R. Higgins out)
Keep in mind I’m also starting T. Kelce & K. Hunt. Thanks!
Hines and Watkins in most formats, I’d think.
Thanks! It’s a 0.5 PPR format for context
Hines in any PPR format is a juicy value. Watkins just looks the more consistent player right now, and he’s on a big big offense.
Been offered Le’veon Bell and Julian Edelman for Mixon and Emmanuel Sanders.
I have Saquon, Sony Michel, and Hines as my RBs. Should I do it?
PPR format? Feels like you can float the Mixon loss until Bell returns/finds a new team.
If Bell returns normal value, I think it’s a no-brainer. Anything less and I don’t think it’s a positive return for you.
Yeah 1 ppr
Trade offer in 8 team PPR:
I get Hunt, C. Davis and Edelman. Give up AJ, P. Lindsay and McCoy
My other WR (start 3) and RB (start 2) plus RB/WR flex spot:
Mixon, Michel, Lemar Miller, Dion Lewis
Allen Robinson, E. Sanders, JuJu, Keenan Allen
It depends on how much you believe in Corey Davis and if you are worried about Hunt’s receiving usage. I would lean toward maybe taking the deal as Lindsay could be phased a little more out through the season and I have no use for Shady.
Want to give a shout out to RW! Yesterday I traded Connor & Kupp for K. Hunt & Julio. My lineup is loaded thanks to the tools, podcasts, and advice I’ve gotten here – appreciate the service provided!
you’re the man, without our PRO members we wouldn’t exist so thank you as well!
Play 3WR 2RB and Flex
PPR
My Team
RB: MGordon, Kamara, Mixon, JConnor, CThompson
WR: THill, JSMith-Schuster, C Ridley, Enunwa, MJones,Jr., NAgholor
Drop Agholor and pick up off waivers a RB of WR?
A RB – to make up for the upcoming “loss” of James Conner – available are MDavis, Smallwood, Foreman, Clement
or
A WR – available are Kirk, Godwin and Coutee
I’d drop Agholor grab one of the Eagles RBs or Foreman as a stash
I’d also drop Enunwa for Kirk. You should have been trying to sell high on Ridley. Maybe trade Ridley + Conner
I’d drop Agholor for one of those WRs or Foreman. He could bounce back but people are forgetting that Wentz didn’t target him the same way Foles did. All three WRs you mention need to be owned and Foreman is a huge upside gamble.
Flex Question, 1pt ppr, .25 pt per carry:
Wendell Smallwood
Alfred Morris
Royce Freeman
Antonio Callaway
Wait for Trashman’s flex ranks, and our updated positional ranks. Probably Morris or Smallwood.
Looking ahead to week 9 when I have Luck on a bye. Who’s my best option to stash for that week: Carr (@SF), Trubisky (@Buf), Keenum (Hou), or Beathard (Oak)?
Carr
I’ve been stuck with Derrick Henry. After waivers, I’m staring at Bilal Powell, Corey Clement, Kenyan Drake, Lamar Miller and Chris Ivory (thinking about McCoy trade rumors).
With Gurley, Conner, and Ingram to hold the fort over the next couple weeks; does a move to replace Henry make sense? And which one (have positional limits)?
I’d pro drop Henry for Drake or Clement
Giving up Alex Collins for Lamar Miller. Is there anymore upside for Collins or should I hold on to him?
Would hang onto Collins
Play 3WR 2RB and Flex
PPR
My Team
RB: MGordon, Kamara, Mixon, JConnor, CThompson. Foreman
WR: THill, JSMith-Schuster, C Ridley, MJones,Jr., Kirk
Should I package CRidley and JConnor to an 0-5 team needing help this week for 1 of their WR: Julio. ESanders. AJeffrey. THilton or TBoyd?
If you can get julio
Two questions:
(1)Keep Hines, or drop for Morris or Mike Davis?
(2) Is Cobb worth dropping for Kirk?
THanks in advance!!
Format?
I really like Hines moving forward, especially in PPR. Couldn’t say no to swapping for Morris, but I would imagine someone else would scoop up Hines.
What do the rest of your WRs look like? I dropped Cobb a few weeks ago, but I decent alternatives.
PPR. WRs in this league are a bit weaker than i’d like – Amari, Juju, Cobb, Watkins.
Offer Kittle, Robby Anderson and Dion Lewis for Njoku and Brandon Cooks? (.5 PPR)
Is Anthony Miller still worth stashing on the bench in pppr league?
Probably not going to be consistent enough
14 Team PPR
Team 1:
QB: Cam Newton
RB: Fournette, Yeldon, Mixon, Barber, Mack
WR: Hilton, JuJu, Kupp, Cole, Agholor, J. Brown
TE: Burton, Uzomah
Team 2:
QB: Dalton, Smith
RB: Miller, Drake, Coleman, Ekeler
WR: A. Brown, Tate, Parker, Gabriel, David Moore
TE: Rudolph, McDonald
Team 2 trades Drake for J. Brown? Thoughts, fair trade, is it even needed?
Main thing I see is Team 1 has major problems for week 9 bye
Love the tool thanks guys this helps with lineup decisions.
Rankings and matchup tool both point Jameis over Philip Rivers. Are we brave enough to pull that trigger are start Mr Crab Legs this week over Rivers?
Jameis @ ATL
Rivers @ CLE
I’m in the same exact situation. I pulled the trigger and am starting Mr. Crab Legs with confidence.
I am
Flex play, standard league, Alex Collins or Allen Robinson? Thanks
Robinson
Looking to fill my RB2 slot for this week. Do I go with Smallwood or Aekler?
Ekeler in a ppr, smallwood standard
Start em/sit em question:
12 team ppr
Need 1 RB and 1 flex
Lindsay, l Miller, ekeler, Fuller, Baldwin
Thanks guys!
lindsay, fuller
12 team, 1/2 PPR.
My RBs are Miller, Fournette, K. Johnson, K. Juczsychek, J. Williams
I was just offered Yeldon and Ebron (he also has Ertz) for Miller and Macdonald (my only TE). I’ve been trying to get Yeldon from him for two weeks now because I’m tired of getting zero points from my #1 pick. I tried doing Miller and Macdonald for Ertz and Yeldon or Miller and Cobb for Yeldon and J. Brown, but he wouldn’t budge, so this is the only deal he is willing to do. Would you make the move? I know Miller isn’t excited at all, but he still averages 10 ppg….
Need three
Yeldon, Powell, dion Lewis, and Adrian Peterson
12 team ppr
12 team PPR, need 2
A. Robinson, Baldwin, Gordon
Thanks
Need to start 3 in 12 team standard:
Sanders
K Allen
Boys
Lindsay
First league, Standard league, debating on Emanual Sanders or DeShawn Jackson…
Second league, Standard as well, debating between David Johnson or Phillip Lindsay…
Tks for your help.
1 point PPR, Funchess or Fitzgerald?
