This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is a flawed metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2017 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow, Vegas indicators, volume of total snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Jets RB Elijah McGuire, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Jets (McGuire’s team). You will see that the Jets’ opponent (OPP) is the Patriots in Week 6, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Patriots’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the Jets, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the Patriots). In the “OPP vs. RBs” cell for the Jets, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means McGuire faces the best possible matchup for opposing RBs in Week 6 in the Patriots. This is a great indicator for owners of McGuire or those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

    I’m think of trying to trade for Dez or Hogan. The guy’s team stinks. He’s running with Gillislee, D Murray, and AP. His other WR are Decker, Kupp, and Beasley. What’s the cheapest package I should send, and which player should I try to grab?

    Fine with staying put with what I have, but wondering if this might be a good time to make a move, or just avoid Cooper all together.

      If this is a PPR,I’d try to move Lynch first. Maybe offer Henry to the Murray owner to see what you can get. Or Henry plus one of your other RBs for an upgrade at QB and/or TE

      That deal seems okay although you are depleting your WR depth and adding even more to your RB depth. Maybe try to package McKinnon and Coleman for a higher end RB?

      Maybe try to trade Cohen and/or Foreman to the Howard or Miller owner first before considering dropping them.

    Hey guys, love the pro info. I have one team that’s in real trouble (lost DJ week 1, and played the weekly high scorer 4 weeks in a row) at 1-4. Trying to make some moves in trades. Would you trade DJ & Hill for K. Allen? Other RBs are Martin, Lynch, Buck Allen, Aaron Jones, and Coleman. Other WRs are Cooks, Hopkins, and both Bryants.

          You guys are seriously cracking me up. If this is full point PPR we can live with the deal. And, if you can start up to 4 WR in a given week. It’s somewhat of a marginal upgrade. We think maybe you can get a bit more. In your situation, use Johnson to make a move that you believe clearly improves your chances of winning this week- otherwise stay put. You have. a very good roster right now.

          I wil say, we do like Keenan this week quite a bit, esp in PPR. See if you can send Cooks and DJ. That’s a bit more fair.

    Loved the tradecast Byron! Kinda got a little proud when my Rodgers question to you yesterday somewhat made it into the pod. I have that stubborn Ajayi owner that you speak of. Sent in a trade for him 3 consecutive weeks and he has only sent back shit offers in return. Time to regroup and go after other guys. I took some notes during the pod cause I’m more perverted than the Robot Genius. I noted that AJ Green is the sell high on his bye week. Is that also a chance to send in a trade offer for him because of his bye and it looks like his owner is fighting for his life mode? Hearing Evans on that buy low list got me all kinds of sick. I’ve been thinking of circling him for a bit since his owner only has one win. WRs are Brown, Allen, Hill, Hilton, Watkins, and Fuller. Do we do a 2 WRs for Evans and get that Golden Son on my roster? Or do we piece 1 WR with a RB? He actually sent me an offer of Fitz for my Doug Martin. I certainly don’t need Fitz as much as I need the monster of Mike Evans. Thanks gentlemen for all that you do! Even the Trashman can kinda get some love tonight.

      Thx for the listen Tanner. I would need to see your RB depth chart to know for sure. Yes- that is astute- it does also represent an opportunity to buy on Green. Different scenario with Evans- neither is necessarily a true buy low- but usually both are completely off the table. Under certain conditions, we think they can be negotiated over, and possible had right now.

      Yeah, I think if I could send Tyreek Hill and Hilton, maybe Keenan for Evans or Green. Think we lean Green right now. Sounds like the guy wants an RB- so yeah- we’d much rather ship Tyreek Hill plus a comparable RB for those WR then having to give up Hilton or KA. Can you start 4 wr?

      Having Martin and Evans may not be smartest either. This really depends.

I have a proposed trade offer to give up CJ Anderson and Tevin Coleman and I would receive Tom Brady. My RB1’s are Kareem Hunt and Todd Gurley. I also have Wayne Gallman. WR I have Michael White, Michael Crabtree, and Sterling Shepard. My concern moving forward with the trade is lack of depth at RB.     I was offered a trade to give up Jordy Nelson in exchange for A. Peterson, L. Fitzgerald, and C. Hogan. League is 0.5 PPR. My RBs are L. McCoy, CJ Anderson, Buck Allen, Duke Johnson (and Dalvin…) My only other WRs are Dez, Tyreek, and Agholor. Initial thought is that it provides me with better depth at WR, but I’m losing a top 5 guy and I’m not sure if Hogan will keep it up. I play Jordy, Dez, and Tyreek every week, so unless there’s an injury or bye, I don’t need much depth. Thoughts?
