RosterWatch Week 7 Matchup Tool Now Available

alex byline

Welcome back.

This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch for our PRO community.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested and most popular flagship in-season tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

DO NOT RELY ON “FANTASY POINTS AGAINST” as your primary indicator for player matchups ever again. It is not an all-encompassing metric, as you’ll see, which will cause you heartache and struggle.

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only traditional “fantasy points against” metrics (schedule-adjusted after 4 weeks of play), but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2025 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question, along with other analytic trends including projected game-script, game-flow/pace, sportsbook indicators, volume of total projected snaps and much, much, more.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you roster Commanders QB Jayden Daniels and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Commanders (Daniels’ team). You will see that the Commanders’ opponent (OPP) is the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7, and there are four color-coded cells in the horizontal columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the COWBOYS’) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS.

They are not the rankings for the COMMANDERS, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THIS GIVEN WEEK (the THE COWBOYS). In the “OPP vs. QBs” cell for the Commanders, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means that Daniels faces our best possible matchup for opposing QBs in Week 7 (the Cowboys). This is a great indicator for fantasy managers of Daniels. It is also a positive one for those thinking of rostering him in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to break ties with closely ranked players regarding who to start and who to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: Vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference. The Vegas lines are updated hourly for your reference and research. Please note that matchup ratings can change slightly through the week as lines and totals shift, or as injuries to key defensive personnel occur.

1 is the best (easiest) matchup, 32 is the worst (toughest).

  1. Streaming Defenses — would you stick with Green Bay (v.Ari) or try and pick up the Pats (v. Ten) or the Chiefs (v. LV)
    thanks

    1. I like all those option, I might just stick with GB because tho because you know they are a good team you can play most weeks.

  2. 10-team Dynasty, 1QB, PPR
    Start: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 2 FLEX, 1 TE
    FAAB Remaining: $160
Current Record: 3-3 (tied for 4th place)

QB: J. Love, D. Jones, A. Richardson (IR)

RB: Bijan Robinson, B. Hall, K. Miller, B. Smith, S.
    Tucker, E. Wilson, Z. Knight

WR: E. Egbuka (OUT?), N. Collins, AJ Brown, J. Waddle, DJ Moore, K. Shakir, T. Horton, R. Shaheed, D. Mooney (OUT?), M. Washington, T. Harris, R. Flournoy, J. Palmer (OUT), P. Washington

    TE: T. Hockenson, C. Otton, Z. Ertz, T. Johnson

    IR: O. Hampton, J. McMillan, T. Dell, B. Allen, C. Tillman

    Available Players:

    WR: Tez Johnson, K. Johnson, C. Austin, L. Humphrey, T. Thornton, N. Westbrook-Ikhine, D. Brown
RB: L. Allen, Z. Scott, Roschon Johnson
    QB: D. Gabriel, J. Flacco

    Questions:

    1. Who should I add, who should I drop, and how much FAAB should I spend?

    2. Is my team strong enough to make a playoff run?

    3. Should I upgrade TE or another position via trade? Who should I target and what should I offer?

    1. 1. I would not make it a priority to pick up any of those players. If you do, only spend one dollar or two. Maybe on Tez?
      2. With proper sit start decisions, some luck and getting Hampton back sooner than later, I think you can make the playoffs.
      3. It might be a stretch, but I’d at least check the price on Bowers and see if Waddle + Hock or something like that could get it done.

      1. Thanks Alex! Makes sense on the waivers. Who should I drop for Tez?

On the Bowers front, I just traded Etienne + 2026 3rd for Waddle + Braelon Allen two weeks ago (right before Tyreek got hurt), so hesitant to flip Waddle already. Plus the Bowers owner is back to competing at 3-3. Weeks ago I hit him up for Judkins but he said he wasn’t selling young assets and he has Fannin too, but I guess he could use WR?

        His team is:
        QB: K. Murray, J. Fields, S. Darnold
        RB: D. Achane, Q. Judkins, C. Skattebo, T. Benson, M. Carter, R. Stevenson, J. Blue, H. Haskins
        WR: D. Metcalf, J. Addison, C. Olave, J. Downs, I. TeSlaa, H. Brown, D. Slayton, S. Shepard, B. Cooks, T. Lockett
        TE: B. Bowers, H. Fannin, J. Tonges, C. Kmet

Any other TEs you’d target? Or roll with trying to make the right start amongst Hock, Theo, Otton and Ertz (which has been impossible)

        Appreciate the help!

  3. Rosterwatch Nation rocks!!!

.5ppr. Looking for an upside bench stash. Who is preferred out of the following:

Pacheco, Bam Knight, Aiyuk, Tuten or Allgeier?

    Thanks

    1. If you need a player with meager standalone value who you could use as a flex in a pinch, but also serves as a high-end handcuff, then I would choose Allgeier. If you want a pure handcuff who could gain a ton of value if ETN gets hurt, go with Tuten. Pacheco or Knight if you need immediate roster help at RB or flex but just realize that they are not great options and don’t have the same one-injury-away pathways to more playing time like the others. It depends on what you need and what you currently have on your roster to give the best advice, but hopefully that helps.

      1. Thanks for your insight. Greatly appreciated!!

  4. would you pick up Tez Johnson and start him over Sutton or McLauren? Tez is sitting there on waivers. thanks

  5. Trade question in a 10 team full ppr league with 3 keepers you can keep 3 times but cant be in the first 3 rounds. Sitting at a 2-4 record with the 3rd most points scored but most points against.

    Offer i received.
I trade Rashee Rice (9th round 3 years left) and David Montgomery.

    I receive

Nico Collins (16th Round and only 1 year of keeper eligibility) with Mike Evans and Dalton Kincaid (12th)

The rest of my roster is

RB: Bijan, J. Taylor, Gibbs (4th/1 year) Montgomery, Judkins (11th/3 years), Bill Croskey Merrit (16th/3 years)

WR: Rice (9th/3 years), AJ Brown, Stefon Diggs, Chris Olave and Calvin Ridley.

    TE is Njoku.

I’m leaning like I cant move Rice in the 9th round for the next 3 years for one year of nico in the 16th (and wouldn’t be able to entertain keeping Bill)

    1. how are you 2-4? jeez

I would not do this deal, stay the course and make a big run through the middle of the season. I would look to trade away Monty somehow, but this is not the deal to do it.

      1. I feel ya there.. everyone has their best week on me it seems. Scored 145 this week and lost by 70 lol just one of those years

  6. RW, Fuil PPR 6 pt, TD and 1 compl.
I received the following trade offer My Bill for his Maye.. I want to counter with my Bill and Fields for his Maye and Diggs. What do you guys think. Here is the rest of my team.
Nix, who I’m not sure about. And I’m planning to drop fields. Fields, ETN, Bucky, Pacheco, R White, Lamb, McConkey, T Warrern, Broncos, Dicker, Charbs, Egbuka, R Harvey and B Knigjt..
What do you guys think. Should I hold or go for it?
    Thanks RW

    1. Ohh by the way Im 4 and 2

      1. answered in PRO thread

  7. 10-team, .5ppr

    Send my Judkins and Tetairoa
    Get Cook

Could that offer even work, you think?

    1. It could work, but I would not do it this week when QJ has MIA on tap. If you want to, let him have a big game this weekend and then get Cook after his bye is behind him.

  8. Should I drop Murray or Fields for Purdy? Thanks!

    1. I think it’s most likely that Mac Jones plays this week, so I would not pick up Purdy just yet.

  9. In a PPR, I’m 4-2 and thinking about making a move to get Puka. I was considering offering up Tet Mac and an RB. I have CMC (whom I will not offer), Jeanty, Judkins, Skattebo, Woody and RJ. I realize Woody and RJ aren’t of consequence at the moment. Appreciate the RW Nation immensely!

    1. You could try Tet and Skatt, that would be a hell of a deal for you I think.

  10. Standard scoring: Record is 3-3. My RB’s are Judkins, Dowdle, Walker, C Brown, Croskey-Merrit, Warren, Vidal and Harvey. WR’s are Jefferson, BTJ, Pittman and Pearsall. TE is Otton. Looking to make a trade for McBride or Ferguson. Thinking of offering Vidal and Otton for Mcbride, thoughts?

    1. Yes of course if you can get McBride for those two do it. I would not do that for Ferg tho.

  11. I am 0-6 and am being offered a handful of trades. In a real bad spot. Last week I traded away ceedee for swift and davante and my opponent ended up scoring 160 lol so it didn’t even come close to mattering.

I’m being floated a few offers and would like some feedback, but first my team is as follows.

    QB: Daniel jones
WR: davante, golden, mclaurin, Ridley, Tez
RB: Warren, breece, swift, chase brown, treveyon, woody
    TE: pitts

Being offered Addison for either woody or treveyon. Also being offered tee Higgins for chase brown. Would you consider any of those?

I’m averaging like 80 points a week and this week I’m up against someone who’s been super hot with Daniels, CMC, Pickens, dowdle, McBride

    1. Sorry about your team, sucks you couldn’t take advantage of the big Swift week. I’d be fine with you taking either of those deals.

  12. 12 team ppr 7 keepers in 4th place
Trade away Nabers and C. Okonkwo
I get Keenan Allen, Jalen Warren, Jake Ferguson
    Team:
    J. Allen
    J. Jacobs
    D. Montgomery
    J. Smith – Nijgba
    Q. Johnston
    K. Shakira
    C. Okonkwo
    Boutte
    C. Austin
    R. White
    K. Vidal

    1. answerd in pPRO thread

  13. 12-TEAM 0.5 PPR 2-4 record.

I’ve been surrounded by injuries and bad luck all season. Starting to get a bit worried.

    QB: Mahomes
    RBs: Hall, Judkins, Henderson
WRs: Lamb, Egbuka (rip), BTJr, Worthy, Godwin
    TE: Fannin

Here’s the thing, I’ve got a free spot and some available players are: Shaheed, Ayomanor, Jameson W, Jeudy, Goedert.

Should I pick anyone up or maybe trade 1 of my players for 2? I’ve just bern offered Dowdle and Marv Harrison for Judkins. What should I do?? Thanks!

    1. don’t take that deal, but you should pick up JMO.
