RosterWatch Week 9 Matchup Tool

alex bylineWelcome back. This is a proprietary weekly tool provided by RosterWatch. You can download it as always, or use the new, sortable and user-friendly online version.

It is designed to be a decision-making tool for gauging the defensive opponents your fantasy players face. If you are new to this, our time-tested, most popular tool, the instructions for use couldn’t be simpler, and can be found below.

RW PRO users can download the matchup tool (or access the online tool for use) in the downloads section of their profile by clicking HERE.

INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the tool, think about your fantasy player.

Let’s say you own Rams WR Kenny Britt, and would like to see how he matches up against the defense he faces this week.

First, look down the list and find the Los Angeles Rams. You will see that the Rams opponent (OPP) is the Carolina Panthers in Week 9 and there are four color-coded cells in the columns marked “OPP vs. QBs,” “OPP vs. RBs,” “OPP vs. WRs” and “OPP vs. TEs.”

These are the OPPONENT’S (in this case the Panthers) OFFICIAL ROSTERWATCH MATCHUP RANKINGS AGAINST THESE GIVEN POSITIONS. They are not the rankings for the Rams, but rather, for the OPPONENT THEY FACE IN THE GIVEN WEEK (the Panthers). In the “OPP vs. WRs” cell for the Rams, you’ll notice a big, blue ‘No. 1’. This means Rams WRs face the best possible matchup for opposing WRs in Week 9. This is a great indicator for owners of Kenny Britt or for those thinking of rostering Britt (or Rams WRs in general) in DFS contests.

Repeat the same process for other players on your roster as you are trying to decide which players to start and which to sit in season-long leagues. Also use it to identify which upside-plays to roster in DFS contests based on matchup.

With the launch of the online tool, you can now sort by any column: vegas line, over/under, and matchup ranks vs. each position for easy reference.

“1″ is the best (easiest) matchup, “32″ is the worst (toughest).

COLOR-CODES
(you like blue matchups best)

BLUE: Best Matchups
LIGHT BLUE: Borderline Top Matchups
WHITE: Neutral Matchups
LIGHT RED: Borderline Bottom Matchups
RED: Worst Matchups

The rankings represented here are derived via a proprietary algorithm which takes into account not only standard “fantasy points against” metrics, but also (and most importantly) weighted averages and medians of separate individual player and defensive-unit scouting grades for members of the 2016 unit that will be run-stopping, pass-rushing, or covering against the position in question.

  1. Hey boys,
    you guys are killin it!!
assuming McCoy plays, clearly not healthy, do you start gillislie or hightower for a descent floor?
Also, I’m contemplating playing both Michael Thomas and davante adams over Amari this week. what do you think?

  2. we have to wait a little while to hear what the beat writers in NO are saying about the Hightower stuff. Seems like it could be a swindle.

  3. Guys, I’m in 3rd in both my leagues! Thanks!
Question- salary cap 12 tm dynasty keeper league, standard score. My rbs- r Kelly Ingram Ajayi sproles bibs. Wrs- Marshall Julio Adams Diggs. Guy offered me Maclin and J hill for ajayi and Adams. I want to counter with Ajayi/Adams or Marshall for Doug Martin and J Howard. Would you take his offer or counter back with something else? Thanks a mil!!’

    1. In dynasty, I don’t want his offer. I’d counter with the Ajayi Adams offer you’ve mentioned for Martin or Adams/Sproles for Howard.

      1. In a dynasty league who do we will better- Jay Ajayi or Jordan Howard?

  4. Howard

    1. I’m leaning Howard as well. Feel like the coaching staff is the only thing holding him back. Meanwhile Miami is lining up with 6 offensive linemen…

      1. Post By Byron Lambert

Yes- we like Howard MUCH better than Ajayi. He is a much better running back.

  5. Need a solid qb performance to go to 5-4.

You playing Big Ben (if he plays), Eli, Flacco or something as trashy as Kaepernik??? My inner trashman is leaning Kaep but open to hear what RW has to say…. thanks

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

Big Ben. You can see what i thought about those other guys on the WWCS. Of course, let’s keep an eye on our QB positional rankings.

  6. Alright last one, what’s your top 3? Please
Dixon Bibbs Duke Johnson T. Ward Perkins for dynasty
    Thanks!

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

      Perkins, Dixon, Johnson

    2. dixon, johnson, perkins

hopefully that disgusting, steaming heap of bones, better know as the trash man, is present for the show this weekend!

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

your guess is as good as ours

  8. Guys you rock! C West over T West if I’m already starting Demarco and C Mike? or? [we can play 3 rbs)

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

      prob

  9. got a trade offer….i get Alshon and OAK DST, give up Rudolph and MINN DST….i would be able to start Alshon every week with Julio, B Marshall, and Devante Adams (we can start up to 4 WRs). i feel like im giving this other team who i am fighting with for a playoff spot two starters for one…..should i do it? i have ebron to plug in for Alshon and would have to go back to streaming DSTs

    1. correction….have ebron to plug in for losing rudolph

    2. Post By Byron Lambert

      yeah- we’d take Alshon.

  10. I just want to say THANK YOU! With the combination of your draft kit at the beginning of the season plus the weekly waiver wire cheatsheet and matchup tool updates I’m currently sitting at 7-1. Keep up the great work!

No prob Halo – all the work is for RWNation. You are a valued member of RWN, and we greatly appreciate your support!

  12. STD league. Playing firmupside this week for first place. Need help at Flex. I’m starting Evans and Cooper at WR and both NO RBs Ingram and Hightower. Choose 1 for Flex between Gore v GB (high floor, bad matchup), Sanu v TB (good but hat TNF) or Dev. Parker v NYJ (good but Tanny terrible). Pick one PLEASE BEFORE TNF TONIGHT. Thanks guys!

  13. Agree with you on all – if were me I’d prob roll Sanu

  14. Jameis tonight? Or wait and play Cam?

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

Love Jameis right now – but prob gotta roll Cam. Don’t get cute.

  15. Do I roll Antoine Smith tonight or wait for McCoy or Crowell on Sunday.

Is Hooper or Brate tonight? Thanks guys.

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

      would wait

  16. 1/2 pt ppr looking for a flex play do i start barber tonight or mckinnon, rishard matthews, hightower … am already starting ingram also

    1. Post By Byron Lambert

Hightower- heck I’d start him over Ingram

  17. Hey guys. Who would you flex this week out of D Adams, Diggs, Hurns or Britt? 1/2 pt PPR.
Would you drop any of them to pick up C Coleman? I already stashed Coleman in my 12 team league thanks to you guys!

    1. I’d go with diggs. Adams if cobb can’t go. I’d drop brit for Coleman

  18. First year subscriber and loving the info! I need one of the following for RB:
    Enunwa
    K. Benjamin
    A. Robinson
    Cobb

    Flex:
    Any above
    C. West
    T. West

    1. WR not RB above

    2. benjamin and charcandrick

  19. Have a couple of trade offers from the same owner to run by you, half point PPR. I have Cam, Mariota, Crowell, C Mike, Sproles, T Coleman, Howard, Evans, A Rob, Mike Thomas, Tate, C Coleman, Rudolph, and Walker.

I can either trade Cam, Evans, C Mike for R Wilson, D Thomas, and Bell. Or Evans, C Mike, and Mariota for D Thomas, Bell, and a choice of Dixon, Gillislee, Hightower, Jennings, or Baldwin.

Or obviously, I can hold what I’ve got, lol. What do you think?

    1. i think you should hold unless you’ve been losing with your squad. if you need to shake things up, i’d consider the first option, but you need to get deangelo williams as insurance for bell.

      1. I’m 6-2 with losses in week 1 and last week (thanks Vikes D!). I just thought having a stud running back would bolster my team, of course Evans had a day after I asked this, lol. I’m worried about C Mike losing snaps to Prosise and thought I may be good enough at WR to do this. Guess I should hold off?

  20. Can’t thank you guys enough!

  21. Standard scoring – need either McCoy or Crowell. If McCoy is healthy, you guys have him ranked slightly higher. Roll with McCoy then?

    1. yes, if he’s a full go

  22. Would you start C. Coleman coming back off the hand injury over Kenny Britt or Allen Hurns this week?

  23. Bad RB situation with Howard on bye and McCoy questionable for MNF. Should I start D. Henry or drop him for B. Sankey or C.J. Prosise?

  24. Start mccoy or asiata in ppr?

    1. mccoy if he’s a go

  25. Would you start ryan mathews or pickup one of: gillislee, mike davis, draughn, perkins for this wk? Ppr league

  26. Ty williams, doug baldwin, or marvin jones. Need one for ppr
