RW Doctrine: Avoid The Sunday Swindle
RW Doctrine: Avoid The Sunday Swindle
Alex Dunlap, Rosterwatch.com
Your work on your lineup should be done by Sunday Morning. If you are making a last minute substitution, it should only be for an injury.
No Sunday Swindles.
The Sunday Swindle is a virus that infects the flex position most frequently. Starting positions are usually filled out with players the victim is comfortable with.
How do I know if I have been infected by a nasty strand of the Sunday Swindle?
*You will be at your computer on Sunday Morning prior to the games looking for a reason (any reason) to swap a waiver wire / deep bench player into your starting lineup at the last minute.
*You will tell yourself that your opponent has a better team, and you need to go with “upside” players to win.
*The urge to make this move will feel exactly like the urge to make bad moves when you are on tilt playing poker.
How Can I Avoid Getting Brown-Eyed by a Dirty Case of the Sunday Swindle?
*Go outdoors. The Sunday Swindle can be contracted via roster moves on your smartphone so this method is not fool-proof – but if you are outdoors and active, you are much less likely to engage in fantasy football paranoia.
*Give your lineup some thought Saturday if you haven’t had time during the week. Look at our Rankings and our Weekly Matchup Tool to make your own decisions.
*Give yourself a break! Drink lots of clear fluids and get some nice pre-noon napping in. The Sunday Swindle is physically incapable of infecting a napping fantasy owner. Just make sure and set your alarm so you don’t sleep through the games.
