Sunday Notes

Sunday Notes
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com

– Matt Ryan and Roddy White delivered and Burner Turner came up short. Percy Harvin was very good. Twice he was within inches of a fantasy monster. Toby Gerhart scored a TD.  The Vikings made this a tougher game than it should have been. Gerhart is worth a hold or a pick up. If Peterson is still out, he has a solid matchup at home vs. Denver

– Colt McCoy tried to hang in there while Andy Dalton did what he does. Bengals win. A.J.Green goes for 100+ and Cedric Benson looks very solid. Jermaine Gresham had a big TD and may be worth a look down the stretch. Buying stock in Dalton seems like a pretty good idea at this point. Peyton Hillis was back, looked decent, and is now marginally start-able.

– Just as the matchup suggested, CJ2K and Blount Force Trauma had big days. In this wet game, Blount’s 159 all-purpose yards were tempered by two fumbles while Johnson posted a monster 190 rushing yards.

– As expected the Panthers beat the Colts. The Prototype, Cam Newton, was very solid yet unspectacular. DeAngelo Williams was the star with 2 TDs. Joe Addai was the nominal starter while Donald Brown proved once again he is the RB to own in Indy (97 yr + 1 TD).

– Beanie Wells was a beast in a great match-up and went huge with 228 yards and a TD. Brandon Lloyd looks exactly like Spiderman.

– Dueling QB’s, Mark Sanchez and Ryan Fitzpatrick went off as the Jets held off the Bills in a what was basically a division elimination game. After you drop Dustin Keller because you held him way too long and he sucks all year and Mark Sanchez can’t hit the broad side of a barn, he posts multi TD games.

– Arian Foster and MJD, not much else to say. Sorry Texans fans, sorry Andre Johnson owners. Matt Leinart will be looking for a lot of hot tub therapy after he suffered what looks like a season ending broken collarbone. He’s hoping the doctor prescribes several nurses and a bottle of champagne.

– The Bears hung in there but OAK won a big game to maintain their division lead. Caleb Hanie was decent but it is going to be very tough for the Bears to hang on. It is worth noting Hanie really likes Johnny Knox. Michael Bush continues to be very solid and Carson Palmer had another 300 yd game. He has added a whole new dimension to a steadily evolving Raider team.

– Marshawn Lynch continues to be so good.  He is a workhorse. If you need a QB and the pickins are slim, Grossman and Jackson are worth a long look. Fred Davis got back on track with some big plays and Jabar Gaffney is really worth a start.

-Vince Young threw for 400 yd. but Tom Brady put up a fantasy monster as the Patriots dismantled the Eagles in Philadelphia. There was plenty to go around: Welker, Branch, Gronkowski, and The Law Firm all got heavily involved.

– Tim Tebow keeps being Tim Tebow. Big win in San Diego. Decker and McGahee have nice games. Philip Rivers is just not right and Vincent Jackson continues to disappear as the Charger’s losses continue to mount. Ryan Mathews and Antonio Gates did have very solid games.

  1. You were wrong about Tashard Choice guys! So I am dropping him and picking up Spiller. Hope he’s still there (I dropped him for Choice! Ouch)

  2. Bill HA! the man who introduced me to fantasy sports as a 9-year old Roger Clemens owner.

What do you mean wrong about Choice? He’s going to get looked at for sure, but I never suggested anything about dropping Spiller for him. I just said, pick him up- even if you have Spiller- but don’t drop Spiller! Is your bench so deep you couldn’t have dropped anyone else?

To be honest, Spiller looked absolutely horrible anyway- johnny white may be the better pick up, or it could be a complete RB committee mess up there. At this point, I do think Spiller is the one to own most safely, and hopefully be able to handcuff the situation with your choice of either of those two guys in case one emerges. Seriously. Spiller looked terrible.
