Tavarres King

Height: 6’0″

Weight: 189 pounds

40-time: 4.47

Drafted: 5th Round

The Trashman’s Scouting Notes:

Brimming with potential, King has all the makings of a starting NFL receiver. With 4.47 40 wheels and 33″ arms, the former Georgia Bulldog averaged 22.6 yds per catch as a senior. King has tremendous speed off of the line and likes to go get the ball instead of waiting for it to come to him. He also has great body control and is elusive after the catch. On the down side, dropped passes have plagued King throughout his career, which could definitely be an issue at the next level. He’ll also need to put on some more bulk to keep up with the physical defenders of the NFL. He was a non-factor at the Senior Bowl, barely ever registering a blip on the radar, which is somewhat troublesome given the general lack of much competition at WR in Mobile for the 2013 week of practices.

The Trashman’s Fantasy Outlook :

On almost any other team, King would have a shot at starting from the get go, but he’s a Denver Bronco, and they have one of the stronger receiving corps in the league. He has Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, and Eric Decker to contend with for looks. Fortunately, Denver runs a lot of three wide sets, so King is just one spot away from relevancy. An injury to any of the previously mentioned players would thrust him into the spotlight. Thomas has missed 11 games in the past three seasons, so that definitely is a possibility. Not yet worth a flier in redraft leagues, King is an intriguing selection in dynasty and keeper leagues. The only issue for dynasty taxi squads is that we don’t know how many more years it will be before Peyton Manning has to hang up the cleats. The Broncos are a team built to “win now,” and by the time King gets a real shot outside of one of these guys getting injured, Manning may be gone.
