Test 1
Slash OU off the “Old School” List
You think to yourself “how many schools in the Big 12 are left that don’t have alternate jerseys besides of Texas?”
Because of course, now OU has been eliminated from the discussion via its “Bring the Wood”-themed alternate – along with other uniform revisions and changes.
And you talk with Howell about how much older you are than the young men you’re covering in recruiting, and how vastly different perspectives are. Reporters covering players in the NFL, heck – even college – are dealing with men who are finally starting to think like men.
But ask anyone you know who’s ever been a young man and they’ll tell you that at age 16, they were (at best) just beginning the process of maturity.
Fly shoes, helmets, slick Nike gloves their parents always had a hard time affording so they bought knock-offs – all this newfound flash can be glittery and spellbinding to some student-athletes.
You’d generally have doubts about this, but then you see how the Oklahoma players reacted to their new uniforms:
As you talk with Howell about whether Texas will ever “give in” to the alternate uni-craze, your mind starts thinking of flash and sizzle and shiny things like stars.
You…
Ask Howell just how hard it is to attain 5-star status
OR
Try and noodle around who Howell thinks Texas’ 2016 5-stars might be
