The Garbage Grab: Week 14
The Garbage Grab: Week 14
Dorian “The Trashman” Colbert, Rosterwatch.com
You know there are a lot of injured players when the Grab actually actually doesn’t carry that much of a stench. I would feel comfortable starting any one of these players this week.
Mike Thomas WR, Lions: This isn’t reaching too deep, as Thomas is now a starting receiver in the pass happy Lions offense. Yeah, he didn’t do much in that role last week, but Detroit will have to get him involved if they’re going to compete with a Packers team that scores points in heaps.
Louis Murphy WR, Panthers: Murphy stepped right up in Brandon LaFell’s absence and scored a touchdown last week against the Chiefs. This week, Atlanta will be all over Steve Smith, leaving Murphy some room to work…at least that’s my theory.
Alex Green RB, Packers: Yeah, I don’t like him either, but someone has to run the ball for Green Bay, and Ryan Grant may not see much action in his first game back.
Russell Wilson QB, Seahawks: Wilson’s matchup versus the Cardinals doesn’t bode particularly well for the rookie, but he just keeps getting better every week. He’s averaging over twenty points a game over his last five, so his floor is exceptionally high right now.
Alshon Jeffery WR, Bears: He’ll most likely be on a limited snap count, but he only needs a few to make it count as he is best utilized in the end zone.
Montell Owens RB, Jaguars: This is another situation where the player will get work out of sheer necessity. Mularkey has full confidence in the young man, so he will get plenty of touches against a Jets team that is weak against the run.
LaMichael James RB, 49ers: The 49ers coaching staff has stated that James will get carries now that Kendall Hunter is out and Brandon Jacobs is not impressing anyone. The question is how many.
Tony Scheffler TE, Lions: The stalwart veteran has sneaky fantasy upside in an offense lacking in manpower. Don’t be surprised if he outperforms Brandon Pettigrew.
Donald Jones WR, Bills: Stevie Johnson and his balky hamstring could clench up at any time in this rain forecasted game. Jones would be the immediate beneficiary.
