Top 10 Thoughts: Senior Bowl Practice Day 2
Top 10 Thoughts: Senior Bowl Practice Day 2
Byron Lambert, Rosterwatch.com
Two days of practices are in the books, as we begin to formulate our thoughts from Day 3 in Mobile. Here are our Top 10 thoughts from the second day of North and South Squad practices:
10. We value what prospects say about others. Every North Squad DB we’ve talked to says Jamison Crowder is the toughest WR to cover.
9. The scouting world was abuzz on Wednesday about RB David Cobb, especially the San Diego Chargers.
8. Every time we’ve snooped into the coaches film room at the player’s hotel, the scouts are always watching film on Iowa DT, Carl Davis. He’s having a big week, and showing tons of versatility.
7. Vince Mayle, Ty Montgomery, and Justin Hardy all finally started to flash real skills at the WR position on Wednesday.
6. A late-arrival from an FCS, QB Bryan Bennett has already shown the strongest arm, and quickest feet in Mobile. It’s a bad QB class…..
5. Anybody with two eyes can see that RB David Johnson will be a fierce and willing pass protector at the next level.
5A. Phil Savage calls Bryan Benett (Mariota Jr.).
4. Arie Kouandjio will have a better rookie season than his older brother Cyrus did this season, mark it down.
3. We’re not sure that NT Danny Shelton is going to be better than Senior Bowl Alum Brandon Williams of the Ravens.
2. We told you on Tuesday, that Phillip Dorsett = Brandin Cooks 2.0. The hype exploded amongst scouts on Wednesday after another explosive display during the South team practice.
1. Based on practices, we have no idea how people consider TJ Clemmings a lock first round pick. He’s starting to remind us of Menelik Watson.

Thanks for the Senior Bowl coverage RW! Do you have anything to share on my fellow Clemson alum’s – Grady Jarrett (DT) and Stephone Anthony (LB)? Those two wreaked havoc on the #1 defense in the nation (in CFB) and just curious how they are looking at the Senior Bowl. I’ve been listening on SXM and haven’t heard much about them. Certainly appreciate your efforts!
