Dynasty Rankings Update: 5/8/24

DJ Chark, Chargers

Age: 28

Movement: Rising

Previous Rank: 220

Updated Rank: 215

Chark signed a 1-year deal with the Chargers to help them on the outside. Normally, I wouldn’t flinch when a journeyman like Chark is added to a roster, but the Chargers are definitely in need of receiver depth. He figures to bite more into Josh Palmer‘s targets, as Ladd McConkey is a different animal altogether. It also slows down Brenden Rice‘s train just a tick. As things stand, Chark could actually move the needle in fantasy this season, after a slow 2023 in Carolina.

Ezekiel Elliott, Cowboys

Age: 28

Movement: Rising

Previous Rank: unranked

Updated Rank: 185

Elliott has been reunited with a Cowboys team that did nothing to bolster their RB depth in the draft. He’ll be up against Rico Dowdle, Royce Freeman and Deuce Vaughn for touches, so right now he’s at the top of the totem. Elliott had a nice last month of the 2023 season, taking over the backfield in New England, and he stands to get heavily involved from the outset of Dallas’ 2024 campaign, especially in the passing game. On one of the league’s most productive offenses, in fantasy and otherwise, Elliott has some real juice going into his ninth season in the NFL.

Jerome Ford, Browns

Age: 25

Movement: Falling

Previous Rank: 126

Updated Rank: 132

Ford was already up against some new competition with D’Onta Foreman and Nyheim Hines being added to the Cleveland backfield this off season, but with the news that Nick Chubb is progressing nicely after his ACL tear in 2023, Ford’s chances of a 2024 breakout are getting slimmer and slimmer. No clue yet whether Chubb regains his pre-injury form, but even if he’s half of what he was before, he’ll give Ford and his owners headaches on a weekly basis. I just have to get a little more realistic with Ford’s outlook, and that’s why he’s dropping in the rankings.
