Trashman’s Fantasy Fallout Going into Week 10

trashman-editMake America great again? Let’s start with a more manageable endeavor (our fantasy teams) first. Here’s the rub from the weekend’s matchups going into Week 10 of the NFL season…

Cowboys @ Browns

  • A week after trying to force the ball to Dez, Dak barely went to 88 this week. Prescott wisely takes the path of least resistance to get a win. Bryant won’t get Joe Haden-caliber coverage every week, though, so I’m not too worried about him.
  • Beasley has been Dallas’, and one of the league’s, most consistent WRs this season, gaining 50+ yards in every game. Now he’s adding TDs to the mix.
  • Kessler hasn’t looked terrible, despite losing every game he’s started thus far. He’s only thrown 1 interception all season. There could be a future for him in Cleveland.
  • Coleman came back into action with a whimper, but he was no worse for the wear. Kessler was comfortable going to him (7 targets), and their on field relationship should only strengthen as the season goes on.

Steelers @ Ravens

  • Big Ben looked pitiful most of the game Sunday, before finally getting things going after it was too late to matter much. He didn’t like himself, and that’s actually par the course for return-games after injury throughout his career. He’ll have an easier go of it against Dallas absent of Mo Claiborne in Week 10.
  • Coates looked just as bad or worse Sunday, but he’ll stay involved with Heyward-Bey and Wheaton removed from the equation. He’s a good buy low.
  • The Ravens got Dixon involved early, and he got only 10 fewer snaps than West, but he wasn’t able to separate himself, averaging 1.4 yards – the same as West. Both are reasonable flex plays against the Browns in Week 10.
  • Averaging 100+ yards over his last 3 games, Wallace is no longer a weekly dart throw, even with Steven Smith Sr. around. With a pretty soft ROS schedule, he’s someone to target before the deadline.

Jaguars @ Chiefs

  • The OC change in Jacksonville did wonders for Chris Ivory and the Jags running game. Hopefully they stick with it. (It kind of reminds us of a Dan Campbell dead-cat bounce in 2015 with the Dolphins).
  • With Hurns in concussion protocol, Lee becomes a hot pickup this week. Yeldon could be useful in his absence too.
  • West wasn’t the boon we’d all hoped for on Sunday. With the Chiefs facing the Panthers next week, he makes for a shaky RB3 play, even if Ware is still out.
  • I said Tyreek Hill was a risky play going in due to his TD-dependent profile, and it proved true. (Editor’s Note: Hill was targeted on a high-percentage pass in the end zone and Nick Foles threw a bad ball to screw him). Hill could somehow maintain relevancy if West continues to struggle, as the Chiefs used him in the run game.

Don’t mess this week up on waivers … WEEK 10 WAIVER WIRE CHEAT SHEET NOW AVAILABLE TO PRO SUBSCRIBERS!

Jets @ Dolphins

  • The Jets are playing musical chairs with their WRs behind Marshall, making it difficult to say who will retain value from week to week. The fact that Bryce Petty may have to start next week makes things all the more confusing. I’m staying away.
  • With the running game working so well, the Dolphins didn’t really need to pass the ball on the Jets. This game said less about the Dolphins offense than it did about the perceived impenetrability of the Jets run defense.

Eagles @ Giants

    Paul Perkins 750

  • Sproles is the starter in Philly. Mathews is going to have to rely on goal-line carries for production.
  • Ertz finally showed up on a Sunday, likely long after he’s been dropped in your league. I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays in the mix with the way the rest of the passing game is floundering.
  • Perkins split carries evenly with Jennings. They performed almost identically as well. The difference here is that Perkins is just getting going, while Jennings is on the downturn of his career. Perkins needs to be owned where you can get him, just don’t say we never told ya …
  • Keep an eye on Cruz’s ankle. Shepard could be a strong play again this week if Cruz can’t go.

Lions @ Vikings

  • Now that he’s drawing tighter and better coverage, Jones is being largely ignored by Stafford. His chances don’t get better for at least two weeks, but he finishes out the season with a cupcake schedule. He’s worth targeting if you foresee yourself needing WR help for the playoff-push.
  • Dwayne Washington got almost as many carries as Riddick in this one. It may be time to scoop him back up. (Editor’s Note: he runs to contact and looks like a slug).
  • Ebron shouldn’t be on your waiver wire come Wednesday morning. He could put up TE1 numbers consistently now that he’s healthy.
  • Hillman may be the Vikings’ best back. Or, he might just be another cog in the Vikings’ RBBC. I guess he’s worth picking up if you need RB help, though it’s going to be tough deciding week to week who will be the guy in Minnesota.

Panthers @ Rams

  • Not much to say about this one, except you gotta hand Gurley the ball more than 12 times. Also Lance Kendricks killed it in the Garbage Grab. He’s worth picking up y’all.
  • Ginn Jr. got as many targets as Benjamin in this one. I think he’s gonna pop off soon.

Saints @ 49ers

  • Thomas is the guy in NO. He’s Marques Colston 2.0. His red-zone presence saps Fleener’s value.
  • Smith’s back injury makes Patton an intriguing pickup. I don’t think Kaepernick knows Kerley is on his team.
  • Draughn was nowhere to be found (we’re not even sure he was active) against the Saints. It’s Harris’ backfield until Hyde returns.

Titans @ Chargers

  • Rishard Matthews needs to be owned in all formats. He’s the best WR in Tennessee, and he’s even getting more targets than Walker.
  • Henry could be out for multiple weeks. This is Murray’s backfield these days anyway. Antonio Andrews is the backup for the time being.
  • Inman seems to be gaining favor over Benjamin. He tied for the team lead in targets with Gates this Sunday(9).
  • In a complete 180 from last season, Gordon leads all RBs in fantasy points. Fortunately, if you’re a member of RW nation, you probably own him.

Colts @ Packers

  • Gore is quietly the no.7 RB in fantasy on the season in standard scoring.
  • Doyle is Luck’s favorite TE even with Allen in the game. Own him.

Broncos @ Raiders

  • You need to pick up Bibbs if you are in need of RB help. He’s only going to get more involved.
  • With his surprising performance against Denver, Murray has reclaimed the lead dog status in Oakland. Jalen Richard seems to be supplanting Washington as the no.2.

Bills vs Seahawks

  • Taylor looks better every game. He’s fairly conservative as a passer though. His feet keep him fantasy relevant. Once he starts to open up the offense, the sky’s the limit.
  • Shady had no setbacks in this one. He’ll be good to after the bye.
  • Gillislee could hold onto standalone value going forward on the run-first Bills.
  • Not sure what’s up with the Seattle running game. No ballcarrier got more than 5 carries on Monday night. If they can’t get anything going next week, it may be time to pick Rawls up if he’s been dropped in your league.
  • Wilson looked healthy and should be all-systems-go against the Patriots in Week 10.

  1. Rishard Matthews, JJ Nelson, Corey Coleman, Paul Perkins, Will Fuller ROS in PPR. Which of these 4 would you consider a must have. (I do have Coleman and would have to drop him for any of the others) This would be for a flex spot. Thanks!

    1. Personally, I like a lot of those guys, but would like to have Will Fuller most as my flex I think due to upside. Think the bye week might lead HOU a little out of their funk and despite being so bad they are still in playoff contention. Gonna have to sling it down the stretch.

      1. Thank you Alex. You guys have helped me move from 2-2 to 7-2. Picking off the waiver wire and on xm is helping me to crush it. If only Josh Gordon…..

  2. Trashman….I’m in a 10 team, standard league. Only able to roster 2 QB, and they’re both on their bye this week. The qb I drop, will more than likely get picked up…..so I need to know based on matchups and your gut instinct which qb to roll with the rest of the way. Luck or Carr? Thanks

  3. For any of you fine gentlemen…would you even consider dropping Jeremy Maclin for Rishard Matthews? Maclin has the talent, but Alex Smith and that passing offense suck and run first anyway. Matthews is also in a run first offense but at least he’s producing. Plus he’s healthy unlike Maclin. Thoughts?

  4. Ingram, hightower, or Ivory? Pick one.

  5. Would you drop C Meredith for J Brown, R Matthews, JJ Nelson or T Benjamin? 1/2PPR
Same question for Kyle Rudolph in another league where I own Reed.

  6. Would you rather have Sterling Shepard or Cole Beasley going forward in a PPR keeper league?

Have you guys ever considered doing rest of way rankings? That is one thing that I think is missing on your site with all it’s wonderful knowledge.

    1. Rushers Mathews and Will Fuller are also available. It’s two WR, two RB and a flex.

    2. we’ll take it into consideration for sure. i’d rather beasley. shepard benefited from a cruz injury.

  7. Second question: 12 team 1/2 point PPR in a league where you have to play 3 WRs, deep benches. Should I hold onto Kendall Wright or Sammy Watkins for the playoff run? Assume I don’t need either one right now. Could also drop CJ Prosise if necessary, but I think he is a hold for one more week.

    1. i’d hold watkins over wright.

  8. Season long standard I’m 9-0. My RB’s are DJ, Murray, Ajayi and Blount. Do you recommend any handcuffs I should pickup?

    1. nice work, i’d pick up dion lewis if he’s still floating around.

      1. Lewis and Henry are both on rosters. What about handcuffs for DJ and Ajayi? Or is it not worth handcuffing them?

        1. i’d cuff ajayi for sure. i’d cuff johnson if you have the room. ajayi is injury prone, but it would be a committee behind him.

  9. Thanks Trashman, this article is solid gold as always.

Best FLEX option: Brandon Marshall vs. LA, Michael Thomas vs. DEN, or JJ Nelson vs. SF?

    1. it’s trashy, but i like Nelson’s upside here. Marshall is the safe play. i love thomas, but i think the Saints will go run heavy in addition to the tough matchup.

  10. Can you put up a list of top trade targets you like Trashman. I’m looking to shop Julio to get an RB & WR. Thanks brother!
