Trashman’s Fantasy Fallout Going Into Week 13
One more week before playoffs for most. Let’s get you over that last hump shall we? Here’s the fantasy fallout going into Week 13:
Vikings vs Lions
- I said it last week, and I’ll say it again, Asiata is the only Minnesota back worth playing. McKinnon is wholly ineffective.
- Diggs practiced Monday, so the Vikings have a shot at scoring more than 14 points against the Cowboys. After a hot start, these guys are trending downwards but slot guys can hurt the Cowboys.
- Jones led the Lions in targets (11), but still only managed 54 yards. The fact that he’s flashing double-digit targets again makes him worthy of a pickup if someone has given up on him.
- Ebron’s not hurt, well at least not physically. He just got a goose egg. It happens sometimes in NFC North matchups. He should bounce back against the Saints.
Titans vs Bears
- It’s hard to get excited about Henry’s big game, as there has been little-to-no consistency in his performances, which is worrying for the playoffs. That being said, he should see some significant carries against the Broncos, who are difficult to throw on.
- I’d rather have Rishard Matthews than DeAndre Hopkins going into the playoffs. That’s something I couldn’t imagine saying twelve weeks ago.
- So I guess it goes without saying that Marquess Wilson is the de facto no.1 WR in Chicago. I’m wary about taking a chance on anything tied to Matt Barkley, but the Bears play the 49ers this week, so it’s not crazy to try him if you’re desperate.

Redskins vs Cowboys
- Speed kills, and DeSean Jackson plays the Cardinals next week. He’s been boom or bust all year, but Cousins is hot and Arizona is susceptible to the big play. I’d take a chance on him this week.
- It doesn’t look like Reed is going to be ready for Week 13. Vernon Davis will be a high-priority streamer this week, but remember the matchup with Arizona is horrible.
- Jason Witten has had two straight games with less than 40 yards, and he’s going to face a Minnesota team that just shut down Eric Ebron on Thanksgiving.
Steelers vs Colts
- Ladarius Green and Sammie Coates tied for 3rd in targets behind Brown and Bell on Thursday night. Big Ben may have to air it out against a surging Giants team, so there’s yet hope for these two.
- Luck is very likely to face the Jets in Week 13. T.Y. Hilton may or may not be at his disposal, making Moncrief a must start. If Hilton does sit, Dwayne Allen may also have more value than usual, which isn’t much.
Chargers vs Texans
- Even upon returning to action, Benjamin took a backseat to Inman in the WR pecking order. Williams should be ok after a shoulder injury scare, but Inman could be in line for considerable targets.
- No, Gates wasn’t hurt. He just didn’t get any love against a team that defends TE well. He should bounce back this week.
- Osweiler is sapping everyone’s fantasy value, but the Texans don’t seem to have any intention on benching him. They should before their season, and that of a lot of fantasy players depending on their skill players, is over.
Jaguars vs Bills
- Ivory was on his way to great fantasy day before he injured his hammy. Should he not be able to go this week, Denard Robinson makes for an uninspiring fill-in.
- Per usual these days, Marqise Lee was Jacksonville’s best receiver, though Hurns got one more target(7). Robinson had only 4 targets on the day, and though he’s consistently gotten double-digit targets this season, he’s fading going into the fantasy playoffs.
- Sammy Watkins only got 3 targets on the day, he made excellent use of them, racking up 80 yards on the day. Kudos to you if you held onto/picked him up recently. He’s going to be a playoff boon.
- If McCoy plays like he did Sunday immediately after all of his surgeries, somebody slam his other hand in a door repeatedly. He is the Bills’ offense, and a returning Watkins can only help.
Bengals vs Ravens
- Eifert was Dalton’s no.1 target on the day(11). He should maintain that role throughout the playoffs. Boyd and LaFell were tied for 2nd with 9 targets a piece. Boyd is the more dynamic option of those two.
- Dixon and West were almost identical on the day with 13 carries each for 49 and 48 yards. They both got 4 targets as well, though Dixon did a little more with them. As long as they’re still in the hunt, the Ravens have no incentive to switch things up dramatically. Both are middling flex plays with Dixon trending upward.
- In a game where no Ravens receiver go more than 5 targets, the deep threat is king. Wallace is arguably B-more’s highest upside play in a ball control offense.
Cardinals vs Falcons
- With a player like David Johnson, who needs WRs? He led the Falcons with 11 targets on a day when Palmer saw something he didn’t like in outside coverage. I can count on one finger the times that TE Jermaine Gresham got double digit targets this season.
- Taylor Gabriel had (another) coming out party with 2 TDs on 75 yards, but his production came mainly on two identical plays. I’m not expecting this to become a regular occurrence in Atlanta, but Gabriel should see more action going forward. Sanu led the team in targets(8) and should remain the 2nd option behind Jones.
Giants vs Browns
- What a difference a week makes. Shepard notched 2 fantasy points, from a run no less, in Week 12 with expectations running high following an impressive Week 11. ODB and Jennings are they only reliable NYG plays going into the playoffs.
- McCown had a decent day against the Giants, but it looks like Kessler will be ok to start this week. The season is lost for the Browns, so it makes sense to put their young QB back in under center. This may be unfortunate for Coleman owners, as the two players have had little on field time together this season.
Rams vs Saints
- Jared Goff took a big step in just his 2nd start of the season, if only for just one half, throwing TDs to 3 different receivers. He focused in on Britt and Kendricks, who I imagine will continue to be his safety blankets. Goff’s increasing ability to open up the passing game will do wonders for Gurley’s fantasy production if it keeps up.
- Hightower actually had one more carry than Ingram, but Ingram was much more impactful on the ground with an insane 10.4 yard average. The game was well out of hand pretty early, so there was no need to run Ingram into the ground.
- It’s too soon to say, but Josh Hill may be eclipsing Coby Fleener as the go-to TE in New Orleans. What an utter disappointment Fleener has been for those who bought into the preseason hype.
49ers vs Dolphins
- Kaepernick may not be winning any games, but he’s buoying fantasy teams for their playoff runs. His upside is sky high in Kelly’s cockamamie offense.
- Vance McDonald led the 49ers in yards(60) and targets(8) on Sunday. He’s Kaepo’s favorite pass catcher and needs to be owned in most formats.
- Stills and Parker ended up 2nd in targets(6) to Landry on Sunday, with Stills getting the TD, but Parker has the more sustainable role in Miami. The run was largely ineffective for the Dolphins, so they aired it more than usual.
Seahawks vs Buccaneers
- Seattle got hit in the mouth on Sunday. They couldn’t seem to get anything going offensively, as Wilson got pressured and sacked constantly. It’s hard to tell if the ‘Hawks were just not expecting the Bucs to come out swinging or if Tampa is just a team with an improving defense. It may be the latter, as the Bucs are now over .500 and looking to playoff run.
- Seattle is looking to get Lockett more involved, there just wasn’t any room/time versus Tampa. He could very well make an appearance in the Garbage Grab this week; his snaps are on a huge uptick.
- Winston is growing up before our very eyes. Aside from an ill-timed interception – aren’t they all, Winston threw darts in places Seattle’s secondary just couldn’t get to.
- Evans made Sherman look very average on Sunday, out positioning him with regularity. He’s matchup proof.
Panthers vs Raiders
- For the second straight week, Ginn Jr. found the end-zone. This time he had 10 targets to go with it though. Newton trusts him, and you could do much worse in your flex this week.
- Carr dislocated his right pinky finger in two places, but continued to make Carolina look foolish in spite of it. He should be able to play through the pain this week.
- The presence of Crabtree makes Cooper a luxury for Carr at times. It’s the only scary aspect of Cooper’s production going into the playoffs.
Patriots vs Jets
- White and Lewis cancel each other out in the passing game. Lewis retains more value due to his usage on the ground.
- Malcolm Mitchell. We’ve sung his praises all year. Now you’re seeing why. He needs to be picked up with Gronk hurting himself on every other play.
- Enunwa’s up and down fantasy days are frustrating to say the least. At least it appears he’s regained control of the no.2 spot for the Jets.
Chiefs vs Broncos
- Tyreek Hill is dangerous in so many facets of the game. I’d drop Maclin for him in a heartbeat. (Maclin should have been dropped weeks ago).
- Booker’s average yards per carry is pedestrian, but Bibbs isn’t doing any better. This is Booker’s job to lose.
Packers vs Eagles
- Montgomery has lost almost all of his fantasy value. He’s expendable in all but the deepest formats.
- Starks isn’t making any headlines, but his job doesn’t look to be in danger. Christine Michael got 1 carry on the night.
- Adams is rounding into the player the Pack always hoped he would be. Some of the catches he made on Monday were elite level. He needs to be in lineups every week.
- Smallwood wasn’t worth the start in fantasy, but Sproles couldn’t do anything on the ground either. Both should fare better this week.
- I put DGB in the Garbage Grab for a reason in Week 12, and he didn’t disappoint. He’s only going to get more involved during the fantasy playoffs

You should of told your cohort that Smallwood wasn’t worth a start instead of allowing him to pump this chump over high end wr2’s (adams). Gonna be hard to forget that one for a LONG time…
Once it was clear that Sproles was going to play that should have been your red flag. I played him in a league only because I had nothing better to choose from. I didn’t expect much and that’s exactly what I got. :/
And to be fair most fantasy experts were pumping him up,but not to the point of starting him over clearly better options.
Season long standard, lost Miller and need to p/u TE for playoffs.
TE’s available: Fiedorowicz, Henry, Pitta, Cook, Hooper, Kendricks, Davis, McDonald, Tye
Keep T. Benjamin as Tyrell insurance or drop him for Tyreek the freak?
My WR depth took a hit when AJ Green went down.
I’m trying to pick up a RB or WR for post-season play (weeks 14-16) with the most upside. After reviewing their match-ups, quality of QB, health of team and other factors, I’m considering the following. What should the order be in your opinion? Thanks in advance.
Tyreek Hill, Malcolm Mitchell, Taylor Gabriel, and Dion Lewis
Cleveland is on a bye this week (13), so please don’t use Kessler!
T.taylor or Alex smith or Prescott..?
Standard scoring – need 2 WR’s from Beasley, M. Wilson or T. Boyd.
Looking to set myself up for playoff victory-Currently have Vikings Defense. They have Indy at home week 15 and at GB week 16. Should I roll with that or pick up Arizona, Houston or some other scrub D with better match ups for 1 or both of those weeks? Standard scoring.
