Trashman’s Fantasy Fallout Going Into Week 3
Trashman’s Fantasy Fallout going into Week 3
It’s only Week 2 and fantasy owners are losing their minds due to injuries and/or underwhelming play, and all I can say is…. relax. We’re going to get through this, and the Fantasy Fallout going into Week 3 is a big reason why. Here goes…
Buccaneers – 20 @ Panthers – 14
- I want someone to look at me the way Bruce Arians looks at Peyton Barber. Despite being, at the most, the second best back in Tampa, Barber got all the run in this one, and it paid off (24 tou, 89 yards, 1 TD). Pick him up if you want, just don’t expect him to be anything more than a flex against the Giants this week. Ronald Jones can be left on waivers, for now.
- O.J. Howard is in fantasy purgatory. He’s got too much potential to drop, but he’s not startable right now either. Bench him till he gets back on track, which he will.
- Cam Newton‘s head towels must be getting washed with a kryptonite based detergent. Newton needs to run to get going, and he’s not running, at all. Bench him if you have other reasonable options at QB, and if not, just hold on and hope that he can turn it on against an Arizona team that is giving it up to QBs.
- Greg Olsen(6 rec, 110 yards) is a TE1, and I’ll fight anyone who thinks otherwise to the death. Only owned in 61% of leagues, he’s going to produce as long as he’s healthy.
- If Thursday night did tell us something good about the Panthers offense, it’s that Curtis Samuel(5 rec, 91 yards) and D.J. Moore(9 rec, 89 yards) are both viable options on any given week.
Cardinals – 17 @ Ravens – 23
- Kyler Murray wasn’t able to pull this one out, but he is just the second QB to throw for over 300 yards his first two games – the first is Cam Newton! This wasn’t an easy feat against a Ravens defense that just made the Dolphins look like a Pop Warner team – though don’t think that will prove to be an exception this season. Murray still isn’t anything more than a streamer in fantasy, as the Cardinals will face Carolina this week, but at least we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
- For the second week in a row, Damiere Byrd(7 tar, 6 rec, 45 yards) worked as the no.3 WR for Arizona, being out-targeted only by Christian Kirk(8) and Larry Fitzgerald(11). It might be time to give him a look in PPR formats.
- David Johnson left the game in the 2nd quarter with a left wrist injury but was able to return. He’ll be fine for Week 3.
- Through two weeks, Lamar Jackson is your no.1 QB in fantasy, and he gets the Chiefs this week in an embarrassment of riches. I don’t have to tell you to keep him locked and loaded.
- Marquise Brown(8 rec, 86 yards) got a whopping 13 targets in Week 2, showing that his Week 1 boom wasn’t a fluke. He’s a WR2 with upside in a surging offense.
49ers – 41 @ Bengals – 17
- Are the 49ers a good team? We may never know. I do know that Raheem Mostert(151 yards, 1 TD) is a dual threat and he’s owned in only 15% of leagues, and Matt Breida(132 yards) is still available in 15%.
- Deebo Samuel is the no.1 in San Fran. Dante Pettis is droppable as Marquise Goodwin is also playing ahead of him, and Trent Taylor will soon return.
- Don’t get too worried about Joe Mixon(14 tou, 27 yards). The Bengals were playing from behind most of the game and thus abandoned the run. It’s worth putting offers out to worrisome owners for him.
- John Ross continues to roll as the big play receiver for the Bengals. He hit pay-dirt on a 66 yard TD in garbage time, but we’ll take it. Now is a perfect time to sell high on Ross, as A.J. Green is a couple weeks away from returning, and we don’t know that Ross will be as fortunate this week.
- Tyler Eifert is going to be TD dependent, but he’s a streamable TE in fantasy.
Chargers – 10 @ Lions – 13
- After being told Mike Williams would only be used in the red-zone due to a knee injury, Mike Williams went on to 5 tar, 3 rec for 89 yards on Sunday. His knee held up it seems, so Williams should see even more usage this week against the Texans in what should be a shootout.
- TE Virgil Green(2 tar, 1 rec, 9 yards) was an afterthought in the Chargers offense. It doesn’t look like he’ll be an effective replacement for Henry as far as fantasy is concerned.
- Well, we’ve now seen T.J. Hockenson‘s floor(3 tar, 1 rec, 7 yards). He’s still worth starting, but we need to pump the breaks a little on crowning him as the second coming of Rob Gronkowski.
- Danny Amendola(1 tar, 0 rec) was even worse one week after getting 13 targets and 104 yards, 1 TD. You can’t take a chance on that kind of swing in fantasy. Amendola is droppable in all but the deepest of leagues.
Vikings – 16 @ Packers – 21
- True to form, Kirk Cousins(230 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT) is having another slow start to the NFL season. He doesn’t really get going until about 6 games into the season as a general rule, but he might have a chance at a decent line against the Raiders this week.
- Jamaal Williams had 32 snaps to Aaron Jones‘ 42. He came away with 41 yards and a TD, making him a borderline flex in deep leagues. This is probably the upper limit of his value in fantasy.
- Geronimo Allison managed to come away with a TD in this one on the way to a 4 rec, 25 yard line. It’s not much, but at least we know he’s not forgotten in the offense. I still wouldn’t bother with him in Week 3 against the Broncos.
- Jimmy Graham goose-egged in Week 2 after a decent Week 1 showing. He’s the definition of TD dependent.
Jaguars – 12 @ Texans – 13
- Gardner Minshew(213 yards passing, 1 TD) wasn’t nearly as bad as he could have been in his first start as an NFL QB, but he wasn’t good either. He padded his stats with 56 yards on the ground. He’s not usable against the Titans this week.
- It’s good to know that Chris Conley(4 rec, 73 yards) and D.J. Chark(7 rec, 55 yards, 1 TD) maintained a rapport with Minshew this week, after all he did practice with them all camp. The same can’t be said for Dede Westbrook – he’s a slot man and he was a first teamer all camp. Until Foles comes back, you’re going to see inconsistency out of Westbrook.
- It only took a week for Carlos Hyde(20 tou, 90 yards) to leapfrog Duke Johnson as lead back for the Texans. Maybe his usage was somewhat gameflow dependent, but Hyde needs to be owned in more than 43% of leagues. I’d hold onto Johnson though, as he could come in handy against the Chargers if the struggling Texans fall behind early.
- Keke Coutee(2 rec, 7 yards) didn’t have much to show for it, but he was third in targets behind Hopkins(8) and Fuller(7) with 4.
Patriots – 43 @ Dolphins – 0
- It might have been because he thought he might only get one week out of him – Antonio Browns’ rape accuser meets with the NFL Today – but Tom Brady searched for AB all day in Sunday’s rout of the Dolphins to the chagrin of Julian Edelman‘s owners(4 rec, 51 yards). If Brown comes away unscathed, it could be bad news for Edelman’s fantasy outlook, as both Brown and Josh Gordon are going to eat into his targets.
- There were generally a lot of mouths to feed in New England. It’s going to be hard to predict who will come away with a meal on Sunday’s, after Brown and Sony Michel, so I hope you’re not depending on Edelman, White, or Gordon to carry your squad.
- The Dolphins are shopping Kenyan Drake, and a trade might be the only way Kalen Ballage is going to see the time of day. Ballage was useless on day that the Dolphins had to drop the run like it was one of Donte Moncrief‘s passes.
- Preston Williams(4 rec, 63 yards) was the only consistent producer from Week 1 to Week 2 for the Dolphins. Make sure he’s owned in dynasty. DeVante Parker did have 7 targets but caught none of them.
Bills – 28 @ Giants – 14
- Devin Singletary was the more dynamic back(9.5 YPC to 3.6 YPC), but Frank Gore led the Bills in carries(12) and yards(68), in addition to 1 TD. Singletary is currently dealing with a hamstring issue as of Monday afternoon, so pick up Gore who is likely to be on your wires at 8% ownership.
- Josh Allen is making out to be a capable fantasy QB to start the season(253 yards passing, 21 yards rushing, 2 TD in this one). He’s an upside play against the Bengals this week, but all bets are off when he gets the Pats the following week.
- Benny Fowler(10 tar, 5 rec, 51 yards) looks like the no.1 WR in New York with Sterling Shepard and now Cody Latimer(concussion) sidelined. Expect him to lead Giants WRs in receiving against Tampa his week as a DFS and deep league flex special.
- Eli Manning is toast. You weren’t using him in fantasy anyways though, right?
Seahawks – 28 @ Steelers – 26
- Russell Wilson reminded us why we can’t forget about him in fantasy with a 300 yard, 3 TD day in addition to 21 yards rushing. I’d rather have Wilson than Newton right now.
- Rashaad Penny(10 car, 61 yards, 1 TD) saw increased action this week with Chris Carson losing two fumbles – he lost one last week. Carson is still probably the leader, but Penny needs to be owned in more than 60% of leagues.
- Tyler Lockett‘s scary Week 1 was just an apparition. Wilson peppered him to move the ball downfield all day(12 tar, 10 rec, 79 yards). I am less bullish on TE Will Dissly(5 rec, 50 yards, 2 TD) who comes and goes in fantasy with regularity. There is a glut of TE options this season, so I’m not relying on him outside of deeper leagues.
- JuJu Smith-Schuster owners are biting their nails to the quick in anticipation of news today on whether Big Ben will need season ending elbow surgery. Mason Rudolph did a decent job filling in on Sunday, but the outlooks of all Steelers offensive skill players would shrink with Rudolph under center.
- Donte Moncrief can be dropped… off a cliff into an active volcano. That is all.
- If Rudolph becomes the play caller in Pittsburgh, the biggest beneficiary is going to be Vance McDonald(7 rec, 38 yards, 2 TD). Everyone knows a young QB’s best friend is his safety blanket TE.
Colts – 19 @ Titans – 17
- Jacoby Brissett threw for only 146 yards on Sunday, but 3 of his passes went for TDs. I’m not exactly excited about his prospects, but with so many QBs going down to injury in Week 2, he’s on the streaming radar against Atlanta at home.
- Jordan Wilkins had 82 yards on 5 carries, looking powerful in the process. Brissett is going to need all the help on the ground he can get, so keep an eye on him.
- Chester Rogers tied Eric Ebron for 2nd in targets with 4 on Sunday. It’s going to be anyone’s guess as to who will get air action behind T.Y. Hilton this season though, so my needle isn’t moving.
- Dion Lewis is droppable in all but the deepest of leagues.
- Now THIS is what I expect out of the Titans offense. Slow and unsteady. Derrick Henry will maintain borderline RB1 value every week, but every other offensive skill player will be subject to mediocre days, like this.
- A.J. Brown is well on his way to becoming the Titans no.1, which is like becoming the Rams no.4
- Marcus Mariota didn’t practice Monday. If he can’t go this week, Nothing much changes actually. This offense runs through Henry.
Cowboys – 31 @ Redskins – 21
- Tony Pollard fell back to earth in this one(5 tou, 25 yards). He’s a high end handcuff.
- Michael Gallup continued his second year surge pacing the Cowboys in targets(8) and receptions(6). He’s the real deal and available in almost 20% of leagues. Unfortunately he’ll miss the next 2-4 weeks with a meniscus tear.
- WR Devin Smith was only active because Tavon Austin was out with a concussion, but he made the most of his appearance with a 3 rec, 74 yard, 1 TD line. The former Ohio State speedster reminded us why he was a hot commodity coming out of college with his field stretching ability. He’ll take Gallup’s place while he’s out. Go get him.
- Randall Cobb had a down game with only 25 yards, but he was second in targets with 6. Hold onto him.
- Adrian Peterson ran as the no.1 in Washington, and managed to salvage his day with a TD. In all truth, Chris Thompson is Washington’s most valuable back right now, until Derrius Guice returns.
- I said it last week, and nothing that happened Sunday makes me think otherwise: Terry McLaurin(5 rec, 62 yards, 1 TD) is the no.1 WR in Washington and needs to be owned in more than 50% of leagues.
Chiefs – 28 @ Raiders – 10
- Demarcus Robinson(6 rec, 172 yards, 2 TD) should be your first waiver wire priority this week. He’s owned in only 7% of leagues.
- Both LeSean McCoy(ankle) and Damien Williams(knee) left Sunday’s game with injury. Williams’ seems like the more serious issue of the two though. Darwin Thompson needs to be added as a precautionary measure.
- Hunter Renfrow(4 rec, 30 yards) had another paltry line this week, but he led the Raiders in targets(8). He’s a deep bench hold who could get a bump if Tyrell Williams can’t get through his hip pointer in time for Week 3.
- Josh Jacobs came out of Sunday’s tilt with the Chiefs with a groin injury. He should be good to go this week, but keep up with the story. Jalen Richard was 2nd in snaps for Oakland RBs.
Bears – 16 @ Broncos – 14
- If anything good came out of the Bears’ offensive endeavors, it’s that they’ve realized David Montgomery(19 tou, 68 yards, 1 TD) is their best bet at moving the ball on the ground. Hopefully the Mike Davis experiment is over.
- Tarik Cohen disappointed, but he was still second in targets behind Allen Robinson(7) with 5. He should have a better line against the ‘Skins this week.
- Royce Freeman was the better back this week, out-gaining Philip Lindsay 102 yards to 66 yards against a stout Bears front, even catching more passes(5). He’s still unowned in 25% of leagues.
Saints – 9 @ Rams – 27
- Drew Brees tore a thumb ligament Sunday, and he’ll be out at least the next 6 weeks. Teddy Bridgewater now takes over, and though he’s a capable QB, I can’t start any Saints receivers that aren’t named Michael Thomas until Brees returns.
- Latavius Murray, on the other hand, could get a bump. The Saints are likely to grind it out with the Seahawks this week, and unless the ‘Hawks get out to an early lead, they’ll need to run the ball as much as possible.
- Robert Woods had the worst game he’s had since 2017 on Sunday with 2 receptions for 33 yards. Jared Goff was shaky for a lot of the game, so he relied on his safety blanket Cooper Kupp for most of the day. Woods will bounce back.
Eagles – 20 @ Falcons – 24
- Alshon Jeffery(calf) and DeSean Jackson(groin) both left the game with injuries on Sunday night. Nelson Agholor(8 rec, 107 yards, 1 TD) went off in their absences, and would stand to be a WR2 this week if neither Jeffery nor Jackson can go this week against the Lions. Zach Ertz, Mack Hollins and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside would get a boost as well.
- Miles Sanders started over Jordan Howard this week, but neither back got anything going. I’m not comfortable starting either player as more than a flex this week.
- Ito Smith(4 car, 32 yards) had more rushing yards than Devonta Freeman(11 car, 22 yards) for the second week in a row. Freeman salvaged his day in the passing game( 42 yards), but this isn’t great new for either back. Smith isn’t going to beat Freeman outright for the job, but he’ll stay involved enough to lessen Freeman’s impact. Now is a perfect time to buy low on Freeman if you’re hurting at RB though.

I have Goff and Ryan in a play 1 QB league and 4 point per TD
K Murray has been dropped
Thinking of picking him up for his running and upside down the stretch
Do I drop Goff or Ryan?
I’d stay put.
In PPR McCaffrey , DelvCook and Breida I have on my bench Royce Freeman, CHyde, RJones and AMattison on my bench for depth and a HC
Play 3 RB +2 Flex
On Waiver are:
Mostert, APeterson, RPenny, Gore, DThompson, JSamuels, DHenderson
Drop RJones and/or Mattison for any of these?
You could drop R Jones for Mostert or Penny.
Cheat sheet gave me OBJ, Boyd, Ant Brown, CGodwin, CSamuel, ARobinson and Captain Kirk in PPR! Play 4 WR and 2 Flex
But… sitting on waivers are
Demarcus Robinson, DKMetcalf, TMcLaurin, MHardman, Deebo S, Chark
Are any of these better for my team than what I have now? Drop who?
Could let AMattison go – my RB handcuff for one of these
You never know if/when Cook will get hurt and you are more than good at WR but either KC WR,McLaurin,or Deebo would be a good pickup. Not that interested in Chark.
All those guys were left on waivers after week one??? Man… must not be a lot of $ on the line in your league.
Ive got M Andrews Hockensen and Waller in a one TE league so im only playng one. Trying to trade one for KC T Hill any suggestions?
Trashman, This is classic:
A.J. Brown
is well on his way to becoming the Titans no.1, which is like becoming the Rams no.4
Ha ha, thanks, I thought it was pretty on point.
Why was there no garbage grab on Saturday’s show?
Where is the robot genius?
Trashman why are you the only person I know who’s breath smells better after eating pussy?
I believe the robot genius is in a Tijuana jail for trying to shoplift a bunch of banana hammocks.
Hopefully someday he will get out of jail and come back to the show. The robot segment was the most entertaining part along with garbage grab. The DFS and player props talk puts me to sleep.
Alex got carried away with calls. RG doesn’t rear his head until there’s a large enough sample size for him to make his calculations.
Looking for some advice on waivers
QB: Wentz, Murray
RB: CMC, Chubb, Jacobs, Malcolm Brown
WR: Keenan, Tyler Lockett, Tyler Boyd, DJ Moore, Hollywood Brown
TE: Ertz, Andrews
Would you drop anyone for Mostert or Demarcus Robinson?
Also have Chris Godwin at WR
Drop Malcolm with authority.
you can drop brown. you probably need mostert more, but robinson is a must have.
I’m in need of a QB, my 1 and only QB Big Ben is lost. Of the waiver wire choses I have who should I go with.
T Bridgewater
M Rudolph
Trubisky
Stafford
Dalton
Jimmy G
Brissett
Thanks
WWCS will be up in a few ours. Stay tuned.
I’ve been offered a trade of connor and hardman for Derrick henry
Keep Henry and Hardman. Also please upload an avatar!
I have henry, but I was offered hardman and connor for him…so just keep henry is what your saying
10 team, 0.5 PPR:
Kyler, Goff
Fournette, Josh Jacobs, D Williams, Mack, Latavius
Julio, Adams, Kirk, Samuels
OJ
Have first wavier claim. Should I go with Mark Andrews or Hollywood?
Also trade options. Jacobs for JuJu. Or two RBs for Hopkins.
Love all the content and I’ll get an avatar up ASAP!
Andrews.
No juju.
Which two for nuk?
Thoughts on Daniel Jones as a back up? Lost Ben so I think I’ll need a backup if I pick up someone like Stafford.
Thanks.
Depends on what is out there on the wire, but you could get by with some kind of streaming combo like Dalton/Stafford.
Trade away AB, receive Diggs. I was fine riding out the drama, but the piling on by additional accusers has me a bit gun-shy. Sit tight with AB based on Brady’s interest in him?
No.
No, don’t make the trade or No, don’t sit tight?
Out of curiosity, would you try to trade either Ertz or Andrews? And if so what would you aim for in return?
What do you need?
I’d trade one of them for help at a position of weakness
Andrews should get you top return though so don’t sell low.
Trade help.
I get Robert Woods and Miles Sanders
I give Chris Godwin and Devonta Freeman
This is a PPR, other backs are Fournette James White, Singletary/Gore, Peterson
WRs Allen Robinson, Josh Gordon, Kirk, Hardman, Marvin Jones, Sutton
Nope
12 team standard league
Frustrated with Cam and looking for a QB. Goff and Allen are backups for other owners.
Looking to trade either Breida or Singletary. which of the QB’s would you prefer and Breida or Singletary.
My other RB’s are Cook, Ingram, D. Williams and Mattison.
I’d prefer goff for the season. I’d prefer to move singletary right now, as he’s injured, and he’s not getting the touches he needs.
Just realized that Ryan might be available for trade also. Would you prefer him over Goff?
Trade help.
I get Robert Woods, Golden Tate and Miles Sanders
I give Chris Godwin and James White
This is a PPR, other backs are Fournette Freeman, Singletary/Gore, Peterson
WRs Allen Robinson, Josh Gordon, Kirk, Hardman, Marvin Jones, Sutton
Or instead of Godwin I give Robinson
I’d rather give robinson than godwin
He countered and I need to throw in Kirk
So I get Miles Sanders Robert Woods Golden Tate
I give James White, Allen Robinson, Christian Kirk. I think I like it but gotta check with RW Nation !
I think I holf godwin and white but that’s a fair trade if I have ever seen one !
In 4 point per pass TD which 2 of these 3 QBs are best for me to own
Goff. JAllan. KMurray
Kyler and Goff for me
TRASHMAN
Love this article
good work – take the afternoon off buddy 🙂
Thanks bvic, now i actually have to put it to use on waivers
Looking for some waiver wire guidance
In light of the news about Cam’s bad foot I am considering picking up Josh Allen as opposed to Demarcus Robinson. I am 0-2 and have the #1 waiver wire spot. I feel like I am solid at wide out with Hopkins and Allen Robinson starting and Kirk, Crowder, and McLaurin on the bench. My 2nd qb is Kyler Murray.. Would you suggest this approach or keep loading up on depth at wideout and rolling with Murray. Also picking up Allen will block another player who lost Brees and Big Ben last week.
In addition should I remain patient with Fournette and Freeman or start to look to move one of them.
Thank you
Allen has a nice matchup this week but then faces the Pats the following week. If you lose with him this week, Week 4 doesn’t look good. I would add robinson and then try to trade for a qb. i’d remain patient with fournette. i’m not so sure about freeman right now.
1) Drop Cam for Josh Allen?
2) Drop Lat Murray for Mostert PPR?
1. you can, but he gets the pats in week 4. 2. yes
Rest of season?
Deebo Samuel
Courtland Sutton
DeMarcus Robinson
I have Mahomes and Lamar Jackson
My RBs are freeman, sanders and Coleman.
I’ve been offered Saquon for Lamar and Hopkins.
My WRs would be Thielen Christian Kirk and marquise brown?
Pull trigger?
Scratch that…didnt get D.Robinson
But Deebo is still on the wire, would you drop Sutton for him?
2QB/FLEX, .5 PPR, Gon Jruden
Do you like this trade?
Recieve – Lamar Jackson
Trade Away – Brandon Cooks and Justice Hill
In a .5 PPR, 1 QB league. Have the opportunity to get Lamar Jackson but the person only wants DeAndre Hopkins.. Is it worth it?? My other WR are Thielen, C. Ridley, have Lockett & Corey Davis.
