Trashman’s Fantasy Fallout Going Into Week 4
Another week, another handful of injuries and unexpected outcomes. This is the fantasy fallout going into week 4:
Cardinals vs Bills
- Carson Palmer looked his age against a revitalized Bills squad Sunday throwing 4 INTs, and more importantly, no TDs. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that all 3 starting WRs had at least 60 yards in the air. Things won’t get any easier next week against the Rams.
- As bad as Tyrod Taylor can be through the air, his prowess on the ground will make him worth streaming on most days.
- As pitiful as Robert Woods has been, it’s him and not Marquise Goodwin who gets the bump should Sammy Watkins miss more time.
Raiders vs Titans
- As I suspected, the Raiders backfield is a full blown RBBC. Murray is extremely TD dependent and someone to sell “high”.
- Michael Crabtree is as solid a WR 2 as they come. With teams set to stifle Amari Cooper, Crabtree’s high floor is rock solid.
- Derrick Henry isn’t overtaking Murray anytime soon, but the Titans can’t seem to get much going in the passing game, so he’s still a flex play.
- In the absence of Delanie Walker, Rishard Matthews led the Titans in targets with 8. Should Walker miss more time, Matthews might actually be useful.
Browns vs Dolphins
- Cody Kessler was surprisingly competent against the Dolphins, despite the loss. It gives me hope for Josh Gordon, should he return while Kessler is still under center.
- Terrelle Pryor will remain the focal point of Cleveland’s offense until Gordon returns. He’ll make for a solid start against the Redskins next week.
- None of the Miami RBs were impressive in week 3, but Ajayi is the closest thing to a flex play they’ll have next week.
- Kenny Stills out targeted DeVante Parker in another solid start. He’s working his way to flex consideration and should be owned in deeper PPRs.
Jets vs Chiefs
- Fitzpatrick went of the cliff as far as horrendous performances go, throwing the most interceptions in a game since 2001. Unfortunately, I wasn’t playing against him in any leagues, which is likely to be the case again next week, as the Jets are playing the Seahawks.
- To avoid an embarrassment like week3, Chan Gailey will be sure to keep Forte involved in the redzone next week. He’s still a must start, even against Seattle.
- Enunwa led the Jets in target with 11. He’s not going away and should be owned across PPR leagues.
- With the Jets busy keeping themselves out of the game, the Chiefs offense was required to do little. Maclin is still a solid start next week against Pittsburgh
49ers vs Seahawks
- The 49ers are starting to realize what I’ve always known. Blaine Gabbert is not a starting QB. Expect Colin Kaepernick to be under center sooner than later, regardless of his off field controversy.
- Russell needs his legs to be the tour de force that dominates fantasy games. I’m not rolling with him until he gets his legs back.
- Michael may just run away with the starting job while Rawls heals up. Don’t expect the ‘Hawks to rush Rawls’ comeback either, as they don’t want to risk him getting injured further, and Michael is doing so well.
- Jimmy Graham resembled the player we’d come to know and love in New Orleans, on Sunday. Who knows if he’ll keep it up, but in a middling TE field he’s worth a speculative start in week 4.
Rams vs Buccaneers
- If nothing else, the Rams’ offensive performance gives me hope for Todd Gurley this season. It’s amazing what a functional passing game can do for a running game. If someone fields Gurley as a sell high, by all means take them up on it.
- The Rams were finally able to muster up some production for Tavon Austin, but things are going to be much harder for him against the Cardinals this week. I just don’t trust Keenum enough to do anything more than flex Austin in deep leagues.
- It’s been the season of the slot receiver thus far, and Adam Humphries of Tampa is no exception. His looks are going up exponentially, as he gains WInston’s trust. He should be owned in PPR leagues.
- Now that Cameron Brate doesn’t have Austin Seferian-Jenkins to compete with, he’s going to rack up red-zone looks. Expect his production to be very TD dependent though.
Redskins vs Giants
- Kirk Cousins wasn’t as bad as he’s been so far this season, but he’s still not throwing with great accuracy. His performance Sunday should at least help him keep the locker room.
- Jamison Crowder keeps putting up bigger and bigger numbers each week. It will plateau for sure, but he needs to be owned and started in most leagues.
- Shane Vereen is down for the count and Jennings is still an unknown. Orleans Darkwa should be high on your waiver priority this week, but Paul Perkins should be somewhere on that list. We think he’s a better all-around back.
Vikings vs Panthers
- Sam Bradford loves Kyle Rudolph and will pepper him with targets in tough matchups for his WRs.
- Minnesota’s hobbled O-line makes neither McKinnon nor Asiata attractive fantasy plays.
- Kelvin Benjamin went from hero to zero this week with only 1 target against the Vikes. Not surprisingly, the Panthers lost the game. It won’t happen again. Look for Carolina to make up for it big time against the Falcons.
- Cameron Artis-Payne has very limited upside as long as he’s a starter due to the fact that Cam Newton is the goal line back in Carolina.
Broncos vs Bengals
- Trevor Siemian may have turned a corner into QB2 territory after his impressive win against a formidable Bengals defense. The good news here is for Thomas and Sanders owner going forward.
- The Bengals sold out to stop the run, and it worked. Now that Siemian has shown he can win through the air though, teams may be less likely to put all their eggs in that basket. CJ Anderson will be a fine play next week.
- Of all the Bengals players, it was not Jeremy Hill who anyone thought would have a big day against Denver. He’ll be up and down this season in a RBBC, but he’ll be a solid start versus Miami in week 4.
Lions vs Packers
- Golden Tate is droppable with so many WRs putting up serviceable numbers.
- Dwayne Washington is a better starting back than Theo Riddick. Expect him to handle more of the load in the future. Riddick is best used as a third down back and hurry-up specialist.
- Of course I went against Aaron Rodgers in 3 leagues this week. He won’t always be that good, but his upside is what wins championships.
- Randall Cobb is an interesting buy low right now. He’s done very little in fantasy thus far, but he’s bound to pick things up in the Green Bay offense.
Ravens vs Jaguars
- The Ravens running game is anemic. I’m not fooling around with it until Kenneth Dixon gets going.
- Steve Smith JR. finally looks healthy. He should be owned in most leagues.
- Even with Ivory back in the mix, the Jags’ O-line is going to hold back the running game. That being said, Ivory looks like the lead dog and should be treated as so.
Steelers vs Eagles
- In what was likely his seasonal swan song, DeAngelo Williams underwhelmed against a swarming Philly defense. He’s really only valuable to Bell owners now.
- Even when Ryan Mathews gets back, the Eagles backfield will be a RBBC, with Wendell Smallwood likely to get heavy doses on the goal line. Darren Sproles is a handy flex as long as Mathews is out.
- The Eagles are intent on getting Dorial Green-Beckham more involved in the offense, especially in the red-zone.
Chargers vs Colts
- Tyrell Williams led the Chargers in targets this week with 9 targets, but Travis Benjamin isn’t shrinking away. Both should be started on the regular.
- Hunter Henry didn’t disappoint in Gates’ stead this week, and despite his untimely fumble, he should retain TE1 status as long as Gates is out.
- In a game in which Phillip Dorsett and Dwayne Allen were expected to get more looks due to Donte Moncrief’s absence, Andrew Luck resorted to his oldest acquaintance, TY Hilton to take the extra targets. Dorsett and Allen will be hit or miss next week in London.
Bears vs Cowboys
- He didn’t do a lot with them, but Kevin White drew 14 targets from Brian Hoyer on Sunday night. Pick him up if he’s been dropped. The points will come.
- I’ll say it again, pick up Jordan Howard where you can. He was already starting to take carries from Langford before he injured his ankle. He’s highest on my lit of RBs for waivers this week.
- It should be noted that Hoyer likes Zach Miller much more than Jay Cutler. Miller is a strong play, should Cutler sit in week 4.
- Dak Prescott is the future in Dallas. He’s a QB 2 in fantasy with an upward arrow.
- Cole Beasley is the most consistent WR in Dallas. He’s a weekly flex in PPR leagues.

Question = Do / will you release a new SOS tool with the defensive stats from the season thus far ?
Also
in one league I sat blount, and started BOTH ATL backs …. Hoo Haaaa !
that same league – I lost AP – Keenan AND Ameer :o(
Thanks TM – I have a trade and wavier wire question. Would you trade Sterling Shepherd for Christine Michael? My other receivers are AJ Green, B. Marshall, Jeremy Maclin, Quincy Onuwa, Tyler Lockett .. My RBs are Matt Forte, Ryan Mathews, Forsett (Dixon in IR slot), Dwayne Washington, and Powell.
Also would you drop Mathews for Jordan Howard?
Appreciate any input, thanks!
I picked up Howard before Sunday’s action. Should have played him instead of Lamar Miller or CJ Anderson. And K Benjamin! Got killed last weekend. Team name Suspended Domination got Brady and Gorden ready to go. Thanks for all the tools and info.
Hi, TM. Hope you’re doing well.
10 team 1 pt PPR
QB: M. Ryan and B. Bortles
RB: D. Freeman, C. Michael, T. Riddick, T. Rawls, T. Coleman
WR: K. Benjamin, J. Landry, J. Edelman, W. Fuller, J. Gordon
TE: Pitta
Drop Pitta for Rudolph?
Drop Riddick or Rawls for Jordan Howard?
I appreciate your help. Thanks for all you do.
How do you guys feel about Ryan Matthews and Will Fuller for Sammy Watkins and D. Williams? (I have Bell so I want him as a handcuff)
I have Jesse James at TE in 12 team standard league.
Miller, Barnidge, Brate, Doyle and Wolford are all available. How would rank them?
I need a stinky piece of QB garbage to stream this Sunday. My options are Hoyer/Cutler (depending who goes), Osweiler, Siemian and Alex Smith. Gracias Trashman!
